How late is too late?

Just curious if fellow DVC members felt there was a cut off time to either run the dishwasher or operate the washer/dryer. We were at the world a few weeks ago and I hated to do laundry late at night because of the noise and not wanting to bother other guests. Do you agree or am I crazy? Is it a big deal?

I do my laundry there at night all the time, I'm not usually in room during the daytime. It is not unusual for me to run the washing machine way after midnight. I run the dishwasher whenever it is full. I do have to admit that the dishwasher, and laundry appliances are the loudest darn machines I have ever heard.

First of all, I wanted to thank you for your consideration of your neighbors while on vacation. Very kind of you! :thumbsup2

I agree that I've never heard anyone's washer/dryer or dishwasher, but we may not be a good example because we usually book 2BRs. I've never asked my daughters who stay in the studio portion of the villa if the washers are noisy, but I'm pretty comfortable that they are not all that bad through the walls.

Now if you're drying sneakers or something else that really clangs, that's a little different. But in general I think you are fine to do your chores whenever your vacation time allows. :)

I've never noticed any dishwasher/washing machine noise either. I think it's more likely to affect people in your own unit rather than in an adjoining one, especially if anyone is sleeping in the living room.

I was just about to make that comment!

The only time we've ever heard any noise from nearby villas was when the people above us had sneakers in the dryer. It wasn't terribly late at night (around 8pm), but boy was that a long couple of hours while they tried to dry those suckers. :headache:

Yes, they are LOUD! We usually eat b'fast in our room - bacon, eggs, etc, so we load it and run it as we are getting ready for the day after we eat. That way we have clean dishes when we get home, even if it's just to unload them for the next day's b'fast.

I always run the washing machine/dryer at night when we get back. With DVC and knowing we have one, we pack less. So we call come in and take everything off and into the washer. That way stinky or stained clothes immediately get washed and don't linger for a day or so.

Di:thumbsup2
