We stayed at the Dolphin for 8 nights. We were lucky enough to get one of the rooms that have two balconies. It was excellent because we had a crib in the room so it gave us some extra space.
One thing about the cribs- they are not truly full size. They are a real crib in that they have bars and are elevated off the floor but the mattress is probably the same size as a pack and play mattress. Also the bed can not be lowered so if you have a bigger toddler who still sleeps in a crib the bar may not be high enough. My DS is 17 months old but is the size of a 2-2 1/2 year old (over 28lbs and about 35 inches tall). The crib was not big enough for him we ended up renting one from a local crib rental company (All about kids- about $65 for a week) after the first night. When he stood up the crib rail only came up to his lower rib cage and there were only a couple inches of head and foot room when he was laying down. He kept smacking into the rails and waking up (we took the bumpers off to give him more room).
The rental crib was the length of his crib at home but the mattress could not be lowered (luckily the rails were a little bit higher than the Dolphin's crib so it gave us some piece of mind).
We've stayed at the Swan in the past and though we love both for different reasons. I think that I would stay at the Dolphin with kids. We were in the West wing so it was super convienient to take the elevator down to Tubbies every morning. The staff there was phenomenal, especially Angeles. DS has severe dairy allergies, they took care of his food everyday. They would take the time out from working to interact with him in the dining area.
We also ate at the Dolphin Soda Fountain a lot. I am addicted to their vanilla milk shakes. We ate dinner there one night also. The BLT and burgers were great. The hot dog was disappointing. I was small and they used cheez whiz.
We went to the pool almost everyday. It was a blast. I can not wait until DS can use the waterslide. I did not go in the baby pool area; I would just walk around pool with DS. He was just getting over a sinus infection and bronchitus and I didn't want to expose him to too many kid germs.
The laundry room was a god send (another reason I prefer the Dolphin). I was there two nights. I did not pack enough clothes for DS.
As for transportation, we would normally walk to Epcot and MGM (unless the boat was waiting for MGM because there were no other stops). If you get on the boat for Epcot you stop at Boardwalk and BC/YC before going to Epcot; it takes double the time. The buses were fine. The only thing that was tough was the bus to DD stopped at Boardwalk, Villas, BC/YC and Typhoon Lagoon before going to DD. It was a long ride for a toddler.
During our stay we ate at Rose and Crown, 50s Prime Time, WolfGang Puck's, Whispering Canyon Cafe, Cantina de Angel, Pecos Bill, Tusker House (where did the peanut encrushed chicken skewer go?), and Chef Mickey's.
Any questions?
