Hi everyone-
We will be staying in a FW cabin 8/18-25 (me,DH,DS19y,DS8y)and I have a question re: golf cart rental.I reserved one a while ago and am now wondering if we really need it?We are taking a TC to and from the airport so no rental car while we're here.Of course DH and DSs really want to keep it but I'm needing some justifications. Is it really a long walk to the activities and how is the internal bus service?

Thanks,

Trish

The bus service is fine, it is a long walk to the activities, and you'll probably be really glad you have the golfcart. You can keep it for a few days, and if you decide you don't want it anymore, you should be able to turn it in for a refund. I say should because we always get a refund for any unused days if we leave early.

Having the golf cart allows you to be much more involved in the activities and your kids will really love it!! It is always our families favorite ride:teeth:

You really don't NEED it, because the bus service is so good. But, you will be really GLAD you have it! They're fun to scoot around in, exploring the campground. And, they're nice when you have to make a quick run to the store for some last-minute item, without having to wait for a bus. :)

If it is not really hurting your budget, keep it. They are a real convenience and as others have said they give you the freedom to fully enjoy FW. I love being able to carry a small cooler for drinks. The cabins are pretty far away from everything except the small pool. Being you have no car and will be using Disney transportation for everything else the golf cart will be nice to not have to wait for another bus after you get back to FW, especially at night when the parks close. All the boats and busses coming into FW are packed and so there are very big crowds waiting for internal busses. We have often had to wait for the next and sometimes even a third buss to get back to camp. At the marina people coming off the boats with golf carts just walk off the dock and get in their cart and go. Most are at their cabin or campsite before everybody else even gets to the bus stop.

Every trip to FW DH and I go round and round if we need a cart.We go over the expense etc.But we always end up renting one.I agree you can get by without one but it adds to the FW experience. And it is great to get back to the marina and zip off in your golf cart. Our kids 10 & 7 would protest if we didn't get a cart. They said why stay at FW if you can't enjoy it with a cart.To them that is part of the magic. You will explore and enjoy more of FW with a cart.Remember to tie something on it...they all look the same.Of course there are numbers on them.

Have a great trip
Heidi

Last trip to FW we rented the carts. There are 6 of us, youngest now 2 1/2. We got the three seater and loved having it available to us. After coming back to the marina, we'd zip back, DH and 2 youngest would disembark and I'd zip back somewhere else with the two eldest. Also comes in handy if you have guests coming to visit you at the site. You can pick them up at the parking lot.

A side bar... at the end of the day and everyone is dragging, we look for people who look like they can really use a lift. We invite them on the cart and escort them back to their site. Seems we helped some sleep just a bit easier on those nights! :p

We have given people rides in our golf carts lots of times!! Once my DS and I were just driving along and we saw a dad with a 3 yo asleep in his arms and holding the hand of a 6 yo. I t actually took some convincing to give him a ride. When we finally took him back to his tent he was so greatful. To be honest I don't know how he thought he could ever have walked that far with his kids. It's always nice to spread some Magic
