In the produce section they sell for .59 a package (here in town.) smoothie mixes My kids love the strawberry one and i use yogurt (plain) and bananas and oj. I don't add the ice in the am. I make these in the am at school time so they will be full until lunch time. along with there regular breakfast. They say it helps my oldest says it gives him little more energy. There are really great energy smoothie recipes out there for kids I don't believe in protien shakes for kids that's just me. you can but i won't.
oops--I meant to add a smilie after the protein shake comment! I would not actually do that esp 'cause this kid has kidney issues and protein shakes are very hard on your kidneys.
For the spaghetti pie
16 oz of spaghetti noodles cooked
3 eggs
1/2 stick of butter or marg (optional but it does make it a lot richer. I left it out this time because I had run out and we missed it.)
16-24 oz of spaghetti sauce
8oz of shredded cheese
1 lb of hamburger, browned
1/2 large container of cottage cheese
Italian seasonings to taste
I leave the pasta not quite as cooked as I would for regular spaghetti. Let it cool some but doesn't have to be all the way. Mix in the eggs, butter and seasonings and stir it all around. Pour into a 9x13 baking pan and pour the sauce over it, then the hamburger and then the cottage cheese. I kind of fork it around a bit almost stirring but not quite. That makes the sauce go through the pasta better as well as gets some of the hamburger and cottage cheese mixed in. You could certainly mix it all together in a bowl and then pour the whole deal into the baking pan but we like a bit more sauce at the top. Then sprinkle the cheese on the top. Bake at 375 or up to 425 if you are in a hurry for about half an hour to 45 min. Check to make sure it looks rather solid to be sure the eggs are cooked. Let sit for at least 10 min after you remove it from the oven.
This makes a LOT of food. We always get at least two meals out of it and a couple of lunches for me or DH.
