If you get the dining plan, get the quick meals. Dont worry about the dining, because it is not worth it at all. The quick meals are quicker and you get a ton more food. For example, with quick meal service with a family of four, 2 adults 2 children, you get 2 quick service meals, 2 snacks per person per day. the meal consist of an appetiser, the meal combo, and desert and the snack consist of anything big or little.
Now heres the tip. When you get your resort keys, the meals are credited to the key card all at once. So if you have a family of 4 and are going for 7 days, you will be immediately credited with 56 meals and 56 snacks. Now, if you order food with the kids present, they will only give you kids meals and that is skimpy. So have the kids sit with one of the parents at the table, and have the other parent order 3 quick service meals. 1 for each of the parents and have the kids split the other one. For two kids splitting an adult meal is definetly plenty. Then with the meal you have left over, it could be used anytime, incase someone gets hungry. Again dont do sit down dining, if you go during peak times, you will be paying a lot more and you will also be waiting forever for meals to get cooked and thats not what you want to do while at diney.
Tip 2.) This one will make you money and a lot of the lazy people here wont do it. If you are going for 10-days, get the 14-day pass. All over Orlando you will see signs saying that they buy and sell tickets. I wouldnt buy from them, but they do pay good money to buy from you. With our family five years ago, we had 2 days left over, so I went in. They bought my left over days, which were 2adult 2-days left and 2 child 2days left. they gave me $180.00. I was shocked, being i was just gonna toss them in the trash. The guy then told me that if i go to downtown disney and add days to my tickets, he would pay a lot more, but i didnt have the time for that. The next year i bought 14 days, used 10, then i went to downtown disney to added 3 days per ticket to the card. the price was 135.00 I went back to the booths and the guy gave me $600.00 for what now was a 7 day 2adult 2child tickets. Now every year i go, In total the disney tickets cost me 1100.00 bucks, but at the end of the trip, i get between 575-625.00 back at the end of the trip. So after all is said and done, i get my family of 4, a 10-day park hopper for only 500 bucks.
Tip 3.) Buy Resturant.com gift certificates when you go to Disney. On Ebay, you can buy a $100.00 certificate for 8 bucks and you can use them at a lot of places in Disney, including the House of Blues, and a bunch of restuarants in the Swan and Dolphin and other resorts. There are restrictions, for example. At the House of Blues, you can only use a 25 dollar certificate, if the purchase is 35 dollars or more. With a family of four, the purchase is always 35, meening you get a good meal in a good place and the cost after the certificate is 10 bucks. If you dont have the
Disney dining plan, this is your best option to save a lot of money. You can make it through a 7 day trip with spending under $200 in meals.
