Artist Event- Disney Springs

Artist Showcase with Rob Kaz

Join us at one of the special appearances and signings of renowned artist Rob Kaz and see some of his extraordinary oil paintings up close!
Event Details
The Artist Showcase with Rob Kaz will take place at The Art of Disney in Disney Springs from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM on the following dates:
  • August 31 to September 5, 2023
About the Artist
Oil painter Rob Kaz draws on his background in animation and video games to tell stories on canvas using expressive light and color. With each painting, Rob’s goal is to evoke emotion, inspire smiles and leave the viewer longing to relive that moment again and again.
Whether it’s a fond memory of time spent at Magic Kingdom park in the rain, a childhood recollection of Tinker Bell that longs for revival, or the sheer and simple happiness we have all come to know by being Disney fans, Rob captures the essence of those experiences, inspired by the passion he feels from being a Disney fan himself.

Geeze, of course it is! I would be interested to know how many of these buyers are actually playing the game versus just trying to resell on eBay.
The gift sets were gone within seconds, Target had a drop that went the same way, Best Buy switched from coming soon to sold out at midnight, then Best Buy had a drop of gift sets at 9am.

Getting a PS5 at launch was easier. Lol

How can they not have anticipated this demand? Card games launch all the time, hot ones, and they aren't usually that hard to find. My local comic book store always has packs for the latest MTG sets on hand. They might pre-sell all of their boxes for the first shipment, but they get more too.

No clue why Ravensburger didn’t print enough, at least more is coming in October and then a reprint in Jan-Mar

Yeah, but will it even matter? They can't create a healthy community of players at this rate. If nobody is playing, what's the point of having the cards? If anyone actually is playing, they will get frustrated quickly at not being able to get more cards to enhance their decks. Come January, or maybe even October, there will be no interest in the game itself. People may be collecting the cards just to collect them (they are sharp looking that's for sure!), but there will be no player base at all.

The starter decks were at least easier to acquire, but yeah lack of product to expand at launch is tough.

Yeah, starter decks don't have enough to build a really good deck. You have to supplement with booster packs. That's the whole point. I go up to my comic book store, play a few rounds, maybe decide that I need to up my game, go grab a few packs and tear them open, tweak the deck, trade unneeded cards, play some more. That's the experience! I haven't played a CCG in a while, but I was definitely interested in this one.

The question is how many LGS bought and opened the booster boxes so they could have a stock of singles to sell, instead of selling the booster packs. With the high prices posted on some of the super rare cards, it wouldn't surprise me if that happened, which would cut down on the availability of buying booster packs. The print to demand should help with this over time but can still lower the amount of product in the wild.

It is also almost always better to buy singles when you want to add to a deck over buying packs. You will get what you want at a lower price point most of the time. Though it is sweet when you buy a pack, crack it open and pull out an expensive card, it just happens rarely in my experience. I'm the one who will get nothing but bulk rares out of packs that I open.

Yeah, but buying packs is part of the fun - at least to me. I know it's a gamble. A friend of mine has a quote when it comes to buying boosters for CCGs - "It takes money to make money." 🤣

I like the thrill of the chase also when it comes to cracking packs. I've just learned to not try and upgrade a deck by doing so, since I never pull what I want/need.

Yeah, it can be tough. I've always had decent luck with card packs personally. Way back in the day, I pulled this pretty rare hologram card from a pack of Marvel cards (not a game). I still have it in a plastic case on my wall. It's only worth about a hundred bucks today, but it was the hot card at the time.
