Dear Disney,

I always loved the DDP. But if the rumored changes are true, I won't be getting it again. Bummer. But I understand you gotta fleece the sheep and make some money, so we move on.

Tell you what, open up DVC to the Premium and Platinum Plans and all will be forgiven. What do you say?

Your pal,
Sal

I say :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: . 67.00 per person per day plus 20% tips for three table service meals amd time (each one taking about 2 hours between transportation/being seated/all courses/check/return transportation) - that's 280 per day for the plan for our family of four (3A, 1C) , plus about 60$ in tips = 340 per day plus 6 hours daily just for dining. :scared1: :scared1:

No way. Disney dining is just not that big of an attraction for us - and there's no way I'd spend 340 a day even if I ate 3 TS and paid OOP. We live in a large city with world class opportunities to dine at our disposal - eating all day is not what we visit Disney for.

salmoneous is talking about the premium and platinum plans not the new deluxe plan. Both offer many recreation opportunities, tours, etc.. We used to do the equivalent of the premium when we only visited once/year. It was great if you have some high energy family members. My DH and sons played golf most days plus we rented boats, did dinner shows, etc.. Great family memories.

salmoneous, have you asked MS if it is an option?

I'm still eager to learn if the deluxe will be an option for DVC.

You might want to put a price in. I can see it now Platinum Plan add on $500 a day..... *(your wish would have been granted....:rotfl: )

Yes, to us the equivalent to the platinum plan was always outrageously priced. When it was first introduced it was the Grand Plan and may have only been offered at the GF the very first year. It quickly became an option at any deluxe resort but it was tons more expensive than the Deluxe or Gold Key or whatever the equivalent to the Premium was called then. The only difference the first year was room service, in room babysitting and robes in the room.:rotfl: Oh, and IPO. I think there must be some people who just want the "best" without figuring out the most cost effective way to obtain it.

The Premium and Platinum plans are the current "deluxe" add-ons to Magic Your Way Packages. Cost is $149/199 per night for Premium/Platinum adults, $99/129 for kids.

The dining portion of the plan gives you 3 meals a day. They can be TS, CS, Signature Restaurants, dinner shows (including category 1), whatever. Signature and Dinner shows only count as one meal.

The real value in the plan comes from the recreation. Unlimited Golf if you want (that alone pays for the package). Parasailing? Sure. And all the boats, bikes, mini-golf, horseback rides, etc. you could want.

The kids get unlimited club time, so mom and dad have a chance to use their options.

Also, most of the tours are included. Premium gets KTTK, Behind the Seeds etc. Platinum also gets some of the really expensive stuff like the diving tours at EPCOT.

A couple other Platinum extras are firework cruises and a spa-treatment per person (not per day).

Open it up to DVC, and I'd take my brother for a golfing weekend in a heartbeat.

PS - If Disney won't open up these packages for me, can we at least bring back the unlimted marina/bike rental option?

I agree here.

ITA with Salmoneous. Once they remove the appetizer from the dining plan and you have to pay gratuity on top of the price of the plan, the dining plan becomes not worth it to me. With these rumored changes, I think I'd do better with something like the DDE. If these changes do occur, we won't be buying the dining plan again. It's too bad, really.

Truly, We always bring or buy our own food... We are at DVC because of the location...

I completely agree... We have never gotten DDP only because we spend wayyy to much time at the pools and Community Halls and not enough time in the parks...

One of the selling points for us on getting into DVC was the fact that we can cut down on our food bill by stopping at Walmart before we check-in and cut our overall dining expenses by over half...
