Lots and lots of people were shocked when they learned I was going to WDW alone. Solo, it is the perfect place. You are never alone.
Being savy about keeping yourself safe is what it is all about. Would you intentionally walk down dark alley ways??? Or park in an unlit, isolated parking garage level at home???
Of course not. At Disney, it is much the same. When I was assigned a room at WL, it was definitely an isolated location so I promptly called the front desk and before my luggage arrived, I was already assigned another one, as requested, closer to an elevator. (Now I know not to request a king bed at WL!)
I checked in with my family every day. It was a way to let them know, particularly my kids, that Mom was safe. Some days I would leave a message since they were in school and at after school sports. My husband, (he may not be crazy about Disney, but he's crazy about me! ) asked if my solo trips were going to be an annual thing! Why yes, honey, what a good idea!
All in all, it was just fine. I was totally comfortable with my stay. I particularly liked WL since everything is under one roof. It is our usual family resort at WL and so of course, it is very familiar to me. As your location will be to you!
Being a mom, I get it. I know why she is worried about you BUT you sound like a very responsible young adult who can handle the logistics of traveling alone.
Good luck and enjoy your stay! I'm betting on you!!!
Regards,
penny
P.S. I head back for another solo round for the end of Thanksgiving weekend. I can't wait!
