We'll be staying at BWV and are wondering how long the walk to Epcot and MGM is. We usually drive to the parks but it sounds like it might be quicker to walk. We'll also have two kids (double stroller) with us so if it's too far, it might be easier to drive. Also, what are the must see attractions, restaurants etc. for a 3 and 5 year old at these parks? Thanks!

It's definitely quicker to walk to either park from BWV.

Here is a link to a detailed report- photos included- from CaskBill.

Enjoy!

It takes 8-10 minutes to walk to Epcot, and 15 minutes to walk to MGM, and could vary by a few minutes depending on your room location. If you are near the lobby/elevators, I would suggest taking the boat(you can roll your double stroller right on...we had a double up to a year ago, and did this often.) If you are located near the back of the resort, near the walkway to MGM, I would suggest walking. Even with a stroller, it will be faster than driving, parking, getting to the entrance of the park, etc. Also, let us not forget where the parking lot at BW is located...that's a hike in itself(thank goodness DVC members get valet for free!) We always drive to MK and AK so we don't have to wait for a bus, but we never use it on Epcot or MGM days.

Don't drive! By the time you walk to your car and then walk from your car to the tram, you'll have walked just as far as if you had just walked to the park from the hotel to begin with!

Most children enjoy the boat transportation and as Mic said, you can roll a stroller on - no emptying out the basket and folding it up!

EPCOT - If you children enjoy the characters, give the Garden Grill in the Land Pavillion a try. They serve lunch, dinner and in the afternoons they offer an "Ice Cream Social". Don't miss the Tapestry of Dreams Parade. Believe the kids can stop at one of the country pavillions inWorld Showcase to make "dreams" that are collected during this parade.

MGM - Be sure to check out the "Muppets 3D" attraction and the "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Playground" and the new parade. "The Little Mermaid" attraction as well as the Beauty and the Beast show are popular with young children, as is the new "Playhouse" attraction (with Bear in the Big BLue House and Rollie Polie Olie).

Enjoy your trip!

Walking to and from Epcot is a great short walk. MGM is a little further, but twice 2 saw the boat at the MGM dock when we left the main gate. We decided to walk anyway. We were halfway around the bend when the boat finally left. the boat passed us, but it stops at the swan/dolphin for the first stop. By the time it got there, we were at the BWV. It is a nice walk and faster than the boats.
