Are you still going to use your Spacesaver bags?

Since the airlines might seach your luggage by hand, is anyone going to continue to use the space saver bags. We leave Sunday and my dh is deathly afraid they are going to hand seach our bags and open those space saver bags. If they do, they will NEVER get all of our stuff back into our luggage! I don't see why they would need to search our bags. I specifically put ONLY clothes in one bag (using the space saver bags) and all the other stuff (toiletries, etc) in another piece of luggage in zip locs. What do you think?

I'm planning on using my spacesaver bags when I go. I actually think it helps to have the clothes in them in case they do check your luggage. That way if they have to go thru your bag, the spacesavers are see thru and it's easier to put everything back into the luggage. JMHO. :smooth:

We've been using ziplocks and spacesaver bags and find that it's much easier & faster when your luggage is searched. Haven't had any bags dismantled - yet - and hope that having clear bags helps prevent that from happening. Maybe we were just lucky - anyone have a spacesaver bag unzipped during a search?

O.K., I have not bought any of the spacesavers, but I thought you needed a vacuum cleaner to suck the air out. If this is so, how do you get them"shrunk back up" when you get ready to come home? Curious, because I had looked at these for travel, too, and wasn't sure how that would work.

The ones I got from Samsonite have a one-way air valve and you just roll them up and it squeezes the air out, leaving them fairly flat. You do the same thing packing for home.

The thing I love about them is I use one (or two) for my dirty laundry, filling them up over a few days, then seal them, squeeze them and they take up very little room!!!

It's not a question of 'needing' to search a particular bag, but rather that they do random searches. So pack your bags, knowing that they may be searched. Plastic bags are actually good, as long as it's pretty obvious that you can see everything in them.

I'm going to use mine, especially in our carry-on. I've had plenty of trips where my luggage goes off on its own trip, so I like to take 2 changes of clothing in the carry-on.

I don't have them but was wondering. Once you open the back are teh clothes wrinkled because you had to roll them up to get the air out?

...My experience has been that the clothes get much less wrinkled than when packed without the bags... can't explain why or how.
