Anyone nervous about how they will feel once they get to WDW in COVID-era

I’m curious , did they provide any explanation for the 4/30 date. Seems kind of odd since the vaccine won’t be available to everyone still at that point. Seems like it could force sick people to follow through on travel plans.

To extend it continuously would almost certainly certainly violate timeshare laws, but would also be overburdening the system with several years worth of points, which would then, at a minimum, necessitate suspension of all banking and borrowing for everyone. They can not, under FL timeshare laws, have more points in the system than they have available rooms to use those points.

We are going in mid may. Me my husband and my disabled daughter all have our vaccines so I’m not worried. I worry more about wearing a mask all day because I get very claustrophobic when wearing one too long. I have to pull it down every few min to get some air. But we are looking forward to it. We bought the dvc ticket promotion where you get six days for cost of 4. We usually don’t go to parks that much. But that deal was hard to pass. We are at DW 10 days.
Masks, I have the same problem but have found one that after 5 min. or so, I forget I even have it on. Plus it's a great mask and you can wash by hand, hang it to dry and it will be dry the next AM. ( I'm in no way selling these things, but I understand your discomfort), I get them on BCslots.com. This guy has a fan group, he plays slots of all things and has been in casino's for months , everywhere plus flying and neither he or his assistant have gotten sick. IN fact they have a sale of different colors , and plain ones. so no logos. You can also machine wash. and dry on low. We love them and don't wear anything else on longer outings. We also use hand sanitizer like freaks, wash hands often, use wipes all the time and social distance 10 to 12 ft. ( we're all nurses.).
Don't forget, even if you are vaccinated, you can still be contagious until the vaccine kills off anything you might have picked, and we can still transfer via touch.

For face masks, DH got one from a CM friend that is the same type as what the CMs wear in the parks and it is the only one he can stand all day. Basically Disney offered to sell some with different prints to the CMs and a friend ordered some, but only one in his size actually shipped. Now if he could find more of the same mask, it would help.

As for cantagious, they have just said that the vaccines are something like 98% effective at preventing asymptomatic infections 2 weeks after full vaccination, meaning you are highly.unlikely.to be contagious unless you have symptoms, then you should stay home anyway as you are sick.

My DW and I will be fully vaccinated on April 11th. So, on April 12th we will head south to Orlando for a few weeks. Have three park reservations and renewed our Silver APs in February. I just want to sit on Main Street with a coffee and watch the world go by. We have gone inside a restaurant once since last February. Cant tell you how much my DW is looking forward to that!!!!

Not that it would stop me per se, but keep in mind that even though you get your second dose on the 11th, you do not have full immunity for roughly two weeks after that.
Again, that certainly would not stop me from traveling.

Also, be aware that many have reported having a reaction to the second shot, including chills, fever, etc. I had just a sore arm again with the second shot, so hopefully it will be the same for you.

As to mask wearing, I found wearing a mask insert like this helps:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B...7&pd_rd_w=HcH1n&pd_rd_wg=aitXn&ref_=pd_gw_unk
It gives you a small breathing space so you don’t have the mask constantly hitting your face as you breathe in and out.

Yes, I had a really severe reaction. There is no way I could've gone anywhere the day after my second Moderna shot, I had severe flu like symptoms. It may not affect you, but best to be prepared just in case...and with the temp I was running, they would not have let me on a plane.

Agree with you. April 11th is the end of my two week post 2nd dose timeframe. I receive the 2nd dose on 3/28. My wife receives her 2nd dose one day before me.

We flew on Jetblue and they never took anyone's temperature, but I can't imagine flying on a plane feeling like that.

Same here. Second dose was a doozy. I'd do it all over again a heartbeat if need be, but I was down and out for a few days with flu like symptoms, too (fever, chills, body aches, headache).

I copied this from Mayo clinic, their information comes from the CDC and NHS

"Keep in mind that if you’re fully vaccinated from COVID-19, your risk of getting COVID-19 might be low. But if you become infected, you might spread the COVID-19 virus to others even if you don’t have any signs or symptoms of COVID-19."

please continue to wear your mask, and wash your hands while in the park and hotel frequently! hand sanitizer is good if that's all you have. I also carry wipes, and wipe off the bar on every ride we go on.

They are still evaluating it all, but it appears this won't be necessary in the long run and CDC has officially said that those that are fully vaccinated can meet indoors without masks.

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/201...e from one other,severe illness from COVID-19.

Now, obviously in public, they are still evaluating guidelines, as the study that discovered that the vaccines are up to 98% effective at preventing asymptomatic infections is only a few days old.

Although, you should always wash your hands frequently anyway, even before COVID. I wouldn't mess with wiping bars off, not worth it given how little time we now know the virus actually lingers on surfaces. But we tend to not be germaphobic people on a normal basis, I know a lot are. But I think the days of needing face masks are indeed numbered no matter which side of thinking they work or don't work you are on.

first of all, I'm going with CDC guide lines. and secondly you can't pick and choose. they can meet withother also vacinated, in small groups. like family members all vaccinated who are not in contact with a bunch of folks that aren't, and who follow guidelines. Too many people read what they want, keep the info they agree with and trash the parts they don't want to believe. please stop it.

Just a reminder, we are not going to debate things related to Covid as it’s not a DVC topic.

Lets get back to the thread topic! Thanks all.

You've only got one life to live. Nobody gets to do this again, and tomorrow is never guaranteed anyway.
Exactly and going could cause her to lose her one lufe. Im not willing to risk it when there are so many other SAFE things to do. Not worth her life.

with the problems Disney is having keeping masks on people, perhaps the science could be a topic, not politics, just the science, from medical people, and the CDC. just saying. Keeping all my fellow Disney lovers safe is important.

Feel free to take the discussion to the Community board. But, it’s not a DVC topic and therefore we ask that it not become an off topic part of our threads as it ends up turning into arguments and debates and then warnings, infractions and deletions have to happen.

Thanks!

The problem is that nothing you or anyone else says on a chat room is going to change behaviors as they relate to mask wearing. So keeping discussions relevant to the thread topic keeps these tiresome debates from breaking out.

I was just curious how others are feeling and handling thoughts like this?
We've been on two vacations for a total of 1 month during the pandemic. Two weeks of that were at WDW. We obeyed the rules, we were neither extremely careful nor extremely careless. None of us ever got infected on the trips. Honestly, I think it's just as safe as doing normal things at home like work and grocery shopping. We are fairly active at home, so the trips didn't change our habits much, just our location and activity enjoyment level.

Best wishes for your future plans. :)

We are more than two weeks past our WDW /HHI trip and feel well. We are returning home right now from a trip to Dollywood TN. We saw the same sorts of behaviors there as in WDW. Generally, very satisfied and do feel ready to travel. In three weeks we fly to Houston. That’s the last barrier we can control. Cruising is something else we are looking forward to doing.

We're going in May and will all have been fully vaccinated the month before. I'm not looking forward to the mask wearing and am going to investigate those that leave space to break around the nose. I am looking to seeing my friends, eating in some fun restaurants, and swimming in great pools.
