Anyone have children who have attended the Alice Tea Party?

Please tell me about this!! I think my daughter (who will be 5) will love it. Do you think 5 is an ok age to attend this tea party? I think I read somewhere that the minimum age is 3 .....I have another daughter that will be 1 1/2 weeks shy of turning 3 - do you think they would allow her to attend? I know the cut off has to be SOMEWHERE, but it is a shame that she will miss the age by so little.:(

My DD has attended the Tea Party 3 times (July, 2000, Dec 2000, June 2001) and she LOVES this party!!! It is so cute - the CM's are wonderful with the kids. No parents can stay - although some parents have waited outside the room. They have little finger sandwiches, and their own "tea"pot (apple juice), and they decorate a cupcake (your finger is the knife!) Allison has such a good time at the party. Last summer, I spoke with one of the mom's who had 2 DD attending the party, and she said one of the girls was about 3 weeks shy of 3, and she attended and had fun. I guess as long as the child is willing to stay without you being there.
I usually walk around the GF, or we go have lunch at the GF Cafe, then go get her when its over. If you peek in the window, the kids will yell "No Peeking"! It really is a fun time - we're going to go again in October!

I've also heard that if you send them in with a camera, they'll get some great pictures.

My daughter went when she was seven. She had a wonderful time. When we first arrived she was afraid to stay. The cast members were great. I got to stay in the room, out of the way of course. Ellie relaxed and really had fun. Some of the best pictures from that trip are from the tea party! We are going back to WDW in August and even at 10 years of age, Ellie can't wait to go back.

DD had just turned 10 & was afraid she'd feel out of place & be the oldest one there. (We'd seen pix posted on the Web & they all seemed to show little girls only. She finally decided she didn't want to miss out & went. She was the oldest but had a wonderful time! There were quite a few boys there also.

That day, Alice couldn't make it & the excuse they gave the kids was that she had gotten stuck in a rabbit hole. Mary Poppins came instead. That actually turned out to be one of her favorite parts - the discussion of why Alice couldn't make it. DD also really liked getting her picture taken with Mary and the Mad Hatter & White Rabbit.

DD took her camera with her, but there was only one picture on the roll when it was developed. There were quite a few children with cameras . . . I think there may have been too many for them to do much, so I wouldn't count on it.

Most of the girls that day had dressed up - as in dresses, purses, hats, etc - to go to the "tea." There were several smaller children there that day also (as on the Pirate Cruise) and the CMs paid extra attention to them, as well as encouraging the older girls to "help out."

No doubt about it...she will love it!

My daughter went at age 5 and again when she was 6. Her father was a nervous wreck leaving her there alone but you don't have a choice...there is no 'observing' allowed (they make a big deal about that also...which the children love!). They are very safety concious... you need a copy of your receipt in order to pick your child back up. Make sure to send a camera (and autograph book) along with your daughter and they will take a picture of her with Alice and Mad Hatter. Both times my daughter went we made lunch priority seatings at the Cafe at the Floridian and ate while she was at the party... and it worked out great.

It's one of those events that the children love...but doesn't seem like that big of a deal from an adults perspective.

In regards to your almost 3 year old...if you think she can handle COMPLETE disconnection from you...maybe you could...well...give her a new date of birth.

;-)

My 2 DD's went to the tea party in Dec. My 7 year old had a wonderful time but my 3 year old was hesitant at first until she saw the table set up with cupcakes and teapots. The CM's suggested that I wait outside the doors for a few minutes to make sure she was ok. They will give you a beeper if you think your child will not enjoy staying. I figured I was fine seeing how my daughter was with her older sister and 2 other friends we were on vacation with, but when I returned to pick them up a CM was outside the room with my balling child. She said it had only been a few minutes that she was crying, but I hated the thought of her not enjoying herself. So if your not sure how your younger one will react-get the beeper...it is free.:D

We too had left a camera, was hoping for a table shot but only had 2 pictures taken, one of my 7 year old with Alice and White Rabbit and the other was of the other 2 girls my daughters were with. My little one was outside crying at picture time. I did get two beautiful bouquets of flowers though.

I would give it a try with the little one, just get the beeper and be prepared for the chance it may go off. You just might be surprised.

My kids DD(then8) and DS(then5) also loved the tea party.
Their favorite part? Getting to eat dessert first!

My five year old niece went and was a little overwhelmed. There were a couple pushy, nasty girls who literally pushed others out of the way and cut in line that were there, and my niece is a little shy and definitely non-confrontational. She did like it, but it was far from the best part of her trip. She might want to go back when she is older.

There was a lot of character interaction, she sat right next to Tweedle Dum and LOVED that part of it. He had her giggling non-stop with his antics!

My 7-year old LOVED it! Alice (or Allison as my daughter has always called her... you know Allison Wonderland!) couldn't make it (rabbit hole problems) so Belle came. Belle is my daughter's favorite so she was thrilled. Plus it was the same Belle we saw at breakfast in the castle that morning and she remembered my daughter.

While she was a her tea, my husband, older daughter and myself went to the GF tea. It was fabulous! I highly recommend it to anyone who wants an old-fashioned experience while being pampered to the max! It was one of my highlights of the trip!

I think the price is $24.95 per child. You have to make PS's for the party and they take a credit card in advance. Just call the usual PS line. It fills up quickly and it doesn't run every day.

DD15 went when she was 6 years old and had a wonderful time. I watched for a bit (out of the way of course), but the CMs did a great job of integrating all the children and making them feel included. I went out to the GF pool bar and had a Margarita. A nice treat for both of us.

My four and a half year old daughter loved it back in December 08!

It's actually just over $42 per child.
