Any winning 4* Priceline bids 12/6-12/9?(Disney World Vicinity)

Bid 4* property WDW area (on 11/22) for Fri Dec 21 and Sat Dec 22 $45 + bonus $5 per night. Got MOWC which is considered 'upgrade' to Resort Level property. Was very happy with these results but then grew concerned after paging back through other bids and getting the impression that many people feel disappointed upon getting this property. Long story short is that we are now back to being quite pleased about it because we've learned many good things about it from people posting here about recent stays there and there is an indoor pool which is a plus for us because our kids love to swim & weather can be unpredictable at this time of year. We were not 'particular' towards any of the 4* properties we may have received (either swan, dolphin, wyndham palace or MOWC) so we were very happy when the bid was accepted and after that brief bit of doubt we are, again, happy with the results.

Joe&coNY,
I'm not quite sure why the MOWC gets such a bad rap. Of the 3 5* Priceline hotels I've stayed at (MOWC, Wyndham Palace & DD Hilton) I still like it the best. The rooms are very comfortable and the pool rocks! The only minus is that DD is not at your doorstep. Oh well ... I only walked to it once when at the WP and twice when at the Hilton.

I got WP through hotwire last night for $60 for 12/22. Priceline had rejected a $61 offer.

I got the Marriott World Center for $75 plus the $5 bonus through biddingfortravel.com and think it's a good deal on a great property. The dates are dec. 6-10. However, for those dates, Marriott is now running specials like $73 a night for a regular room or $101 for a huge 1 bedroom "villa" with full kitchen, washer/dryer, living room at it's Grande Vista resort on international drive. The grande vista is wonderful and is surrounded by water and golf courses. Plus when we were there, we practically had the pool to ourselves. The world center also has a AAA rate of $109 and it's also very nice.
Hope this helps.

priceline seem to be a good place for great deal, but I have some question about it in my head !!
1) when you have a great deal, ex: 50$ for swan & dolphin, does the room and service are the same, even you have a great deal ?

2) does this system is "trouble free" ?

thanks
thats my two questions !

Mario if I interpret your questions correctly (my French Canadian may be off a little)

1) Are the rooms and service through priceline the same as if you reserved youe room through the
hotel directly?
My answer is yes I've used priceline and the room is the same standard room without any special view. I requested a room away
from the elevators and ice machines and my request was granted and I asked about parking my car at a hotel near an airport
once and they let me park in a secure gated area for a week at no charge.

2)Is the system priceline uses without any problems?
My answer would be that I've used them twice without any problems and I'm using Priceline for two nights on the way to Disney next week and two nights on the way back. I've reserved rooms at half of the best rates I could find on the internet and they are good hotels. Ramada, Hyatt, LaQuinta Inn. For as little as $25 a night. Priceline gives you a confirmed reservation that you can comfirm yourself with the hotel if you wish and they give you a number to call should there be any problems once you arrive.

I hope that answered your queations. Good Luck.

P.S. you can go to www.biddingfortravel.com to learn more and some good bidding techniques.

;O) yessssssssss,

I agree, the service is the same. I have read how some people think they're treated differently because of their rate but that's never been my experience. I also loved the MOWC and the service was superlative. Never are you not aware that you are in a 4 star hotel!

I've been bidding on hotel rooms for the last year or so. I've probably bid on a hundred nights. So far, not one person who I've bid for has had any problems! I personally only had one. Last year I bid on a hotel in Washington D.C. The Marriott charged my credit card for the $26 rate although PL had already paid it. I straightened it out with one phone call so it really wasn't that bad.

I also noticed that the front desk personnel seem either confused when they process a PL reservation, or put out because they have to do something different. Not quite sure why.

Other than that service seems to be the same, room quality is the same, and the hotel amenities are always the same. Why spend well over a hundred dollars a night when you can get the same hotel for $50?

I'm off tomorrow to Niagara Falls for a girls getaway. We're staying at a 3* hotel for $25! Lowest published rate is $79. It's a great hotel and I can't wait to hit the casino!

Some warnings about Priceline. You MUST go to the link someone posted above and READ READ READ! Once your bid has been accepted, thats it! They charge your card immediately and there are NO refunds or cancellations! Being informed is the only way to go.....

Just wanted to put my two cents in regarding MOWC, we stayed there for one night after our last trip and got $75 per night with priceline. I thought this hotel was nothing short of spectacular looking! The rooms are a bit small, but they are beautiful! The restaurants are pricey but the pool does in fact rock! I think you got a GREAT deal for the price you bid! Have a GREAT time!

I am so tempted to try priceline for an upcoming 1 night stay in NYC. However, I have been told you can only get a room with 1 bed. Is this true?

Yes and small ones at that :(. Many hotels only offer 1 queen or full bed.

I'm a huge Hotwire fan, and I heard on Bloomberg this morning that they just received a whole slew of new 4* super-luxury rooms in NYC, being that tourism is so depressed. Check that out before you bid on Priceline, and you can get some idea as to what's available.

Thanks for the info, danacara.

I tried them once for NYC but I was leary about booking a PRICE instead of a name.
