I didn't realize until I put it away, I made a giant vat of soup.. more than my usual. Or maybe it seemed like more since N had none of it.. he decided it was "weird" and J only had one bowl. I thought it was good so there HMMPH

more for hubby and I for lunch this week.
I love making meals from little tidbits of this and that. In this case the broth was made from the carcass of the rotiserrie chicken, chopped/browned one breast (coupon deal), added organic carrots (free), onion (cheap), spices (cheap), can of organic fire roasted tomatoes (cheap after coupon), can of corn (cheap after coupon).
The most expensive thing was the tortilla chips, because I'm too lazy to make tortillas and crisp them myself. Of course those were a coupon deal too
As much as I find good deals, I have to make sure to create recipes to USE the items before it goes bad.
My newest project.. using Cherrios as a basis for baked goods and other snackage. I found several recipes to try.. instead of graham crackers I will make a crust out of crushed cheerios.
They were free, gotta use them somehow. But I draw the line at some of the creations, Crunchy apple cheerio salad?? umm nooo
