American getting a Sim card in Europe?

Verizon has the $10 a day travel pass but they also have a monthly version. I think it's $100 for up to 30 days. So obviously, if you need it more than 10 days it's better to go with the monthly pass. And I feel I was able to get it for free during some promotion at one point so check that out too.

I look for Free Wi-Fi locations. I put a VPN (Surf Shark) on my phone for privacy (There is a fee).

Again, if I have it straight, WiFi is not using your data allowance; that only applies when your phone is connecting through cell towers.

I look up stuff ahead of time - either pre-vacation or at a hotel And use WiFi when in a dining establishment…Take screen shots if a lot of info.

Good luck and have a great vacation.

5 GB of high speed data. Then unlimited data at 256 kbps. Not really sure what that is.
Thats a bout a week of normal use at fast speeds......then they cap you off....so no music, no pictures, no video

if you dont stream while on cell...5 gigs should do you pretty well. but tick toc and fail book will cut into that 5gig quickly

Sorry for the late reply, but I've got some insights on your European SIM card dilemma. I've used a European SIM with my iPhone before, and it worked like a charm. Sometimes, it's just about finding the right provider and settings. But hey, if you're not heavy phone users, pay as you go could be the way to go. However, before you decide, consider checking out eSIM cards. They're a game-changer for staying connected without breaking the bank. I recently stumbled upon https://www.europesimcard.com.au/ and it's been a lifesaver for my travels.

OP Here. I don't have Verizon, I have Xfinity. $18/mo for 2 phones. If I use International pass, it will be $10/day. If I used it every day, that would be $170. I can avoid using it during the cruise. So, $70 for the pre and post cruise.

I'm leaning toward pay as you go.
can you just book each day as you need it??? I would go with that... most places have wifi hot spots,, hotels, starbucks, malls, stations etc.... do you have whatsapp or FB messenger? those work on the boat for simply texting. so family can get a hold of you there. worse case give them the ship contact infos for real emergencies.

I assume you will be in London or major places in the UK, wifi everywhere same with Denmakr... Try a day and see if you need it.

I would save pay as you go for land excursions as some ports may be off the beaten track.. (norway etc)

Please tell me this is a joke. Please? No really, you can't be serious.
In Germany they say Wlan ( vay-laan) and dont use wifi but if they did it would be weefee

and they dont say cell phones they say either "mobile" or "handy"

I always use e-Sim Nomad when going to the US and very satisfied with it, can’t image traveling without it anymore. Can be used in Europe too.
