Walt Disney World's Typhoon Lagoon is experimenting with self-serve refills of its $9.43 souvenir mugs for soft drinks, coffee and tea.

The "bottomless" mugs, all 32 ounces of them, were previously refilled by employees at the water park's snack bars. Refills have been, and will continue to be, unlimited but only on the day of purchase.

Disney says a new computer bar code stamped on the mugs will be read electronically by a device at the self-serve fountain, thus reducing wait time in the refill line.

Disney says the current "length of stay" refill policy now allowed for souvenir mugs purchased at a resort hotel's food court won't change -- even if self-service is eventually introduced.

we did this at blizzard beach - I'm not convinced the mugs were 32 oz though - they look big, but most of it is insulatoin, we thought they didn't really hold a lot of soda, which meant you had to keep going back to refill them.

if you already have a mug, you can buy a new sticker for $5 ($10 for a new mug)
