Day Two Sunday 11/26: Rise and shine at 6:30 hop bus to AK. Note to this very special bus driver! She is of latin decent and drove the Boone and Crocket busses on this day. She really had us all laughing very early in the morning! The whole bus was singing songs all the way to the TTC! It was great! Part of the unexpected magic!
First off I want to say it's the most beautiful (zoo) I have ever seen in my life! And I'm a major zoo person! DD, DH and I went on the safari and saw all sorts of animals. Everything they showed us and more. Then jumped the train to the conversation station and explored. There was so much to do there. Two handlers brought a python and DD had front a front row seat. We went into a booth the hear the song of the Rain Forest. That was an awesome experiance. If you haven't taken the time to do it, I high recommend the experiance. DH loved it. Speaking of him, he is a landscape designer and enjoyed the horticultural side of this park as well as the beastly side. He was amazed at the Orchid Trees! Unfortunately about the time we traveled back on the train is begain to rain. It was close to lunch so we ducked into Tusker House! DH had the Beef Stew in the Bread Bowl, DD had the childs mac and cheese, and I had a chicken sandwich. I give the food ***! and the atmosphere as well. The CM was friendly and attentive! The only down side was when I got up the throw something away. When I returned to my table a new family was sitting there and began throwing the rest of my meal away and moving my belongings! We suggested to share the table because by now it was pouring and people were really coming inside! Anyway, it was a great way to meet new people!
Doning our pounchos (don't leave home without one-Wal-Mart $3.00) we made haste for the buses. DH deceided to take a nap back at the motorhome. DD and I jumped the next bus for WL! And guess whose bus we boarded. That's right the singing bus driver. DD wanted to sing so she obliged and soon the whole bus was singing while driving down the road! People clapped when we departed...I wonder why? (When they pulled away they began singing again so I guess they were enjoying themselves)!
We walked in and lost our breath! It is an awesome sight to behold for the first time! Right in the middle of a rustic lodge is a huge, lit, christmas tree 5 stories high! Boughs of greenery hung from every railing. We took the free tour of the lodge, which is definately worth the wait. Then asked for the Kids Pack. It included coloring books, crayons, puzzles, and ...the hidden micky challenge! My DD and I set off on the hunt. I won't tell you where they are, but they are hard to find! We then watched the gyser erupt and met DH for an early dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe!
First the have the best milk shakes ever, and they're bottomless! DD and I were in heaven from the start! Dinner was ****! as was the atmosphere and service! The show was even better! A must do for anyone, newbie or seasoned!
Also, seating for dinner is at 5:00, we arrived at 4:45 without a PS and were seated right away! This is not a restaurant for anyone wanting a quiet evening. Anyone who would like more info please let me know!
We ended our evening at The Grand Flordian! I thought that WF was breath taking. GF was that much more! The tree again expanded from floor to ceiling in a victorian theame. The even hung huge decorated mirrors on it! We wandered around taking in the sights and sounds. The had an orchastra playing holiday music. The gingerbread house is really something to see. I wonder how long it took for them to build it? After some pictures and a relaxing evening we headed back to the motorhome!
I want to tell you this. Another guest stopped me to thank me for bringing the magic back into their vacation (from _ _ _ _)! DD and I had met her and her family on the bus on the way to WL and they joined in singing with us Christmas songs! The rest of the bus eventually joined in too! She said I should work there! I wonder if they are hiring? I have a recommendation now!
Look for Day 3 tomorrow!

LOL. :D That bus driver sounds great. We had a few really super ones too. One answered questions about Disney. Everyone tried to stump him, but no one could.

The Christmas decorations sound beautiful. Sigh. Some day. :)

I'm just a lowly gardener, but I thoroughly enjoy the landscaping at AK and at all of Disney. It seems as if no detail is overlooked.

Thanks for sharing your trip with us.

Lisa :)

Hi,
We are staying at WL from 1/1 to 1/5 with our 5 year old DD. Sounds like the Kid Pack might be great for her. Did you just ask for it at the front desk? Thanks for sharing any information you can.

We asked the front desk for it. It's a small bag full of activities for your kids to do. Nothing elaborate, but something special for younger ones. My DD is 8 and she thought it was great. It contained 2 coloring books, crayons, puzzles like word searches and crosswords, hidden mickey challenge and a couple of other things. The best thing...it's free for the asking!

Hope it works out for you! I felt the WL was beautiful and hope to stay there sometime! Have a great trip. :)
