Room service called. They had tried to deliver the tray I had ordered the nite before but we were all sleeping so soundly we didn't hear the knock! I had ordered an assortment of danish & crossaints, cereal & milk for DS, and juice and coffee. It was truly enjoyable to sit on the verandah and sip juice and coffee as we headed into Nassau. It was very overcast and looked as tho it mighte storm any minute. We went out to the aft deck on deck 7 and enjoyed the scenery as we completed docking. We were the only ones out there. Every time we went out ther on Sunday & Monday we had it to ourselves. The teens discovered on Tuesday.

DS headed off to the lab; he had the counselor beep me when he arrived as we agreed. We had reviewed his navigator in depth so he agreed that he would stay in the club most of the day so DH & I, sister and BIL could go to the casino at Atlantis.

I checked on DS right before debarking the ship about 11:30 a.m. The plaza area where you get off the ship is pretty tacky and desolate looking. Planter boxes with nothing planted in them and lots of broken concrete. I guess DCL can't do anything about this since they aren't the only ones using it.

Before 9/11 taxis and shuttles could come right down into this area to pick up passengers. Now you must walk about 2 city blocks before you are first approached by local taxi/van drivers.
BIL & sister stayed at this point waiting on a shuttle van to take them further out into the main square. (BIL has difficulty walking). They ended up waiting close to 30 minutes. DH & I walked about 2 more blocks into the square where all the taxis are waiting. There was a band playing island music right before
the square entrance. Most of this walk is under cover. It still looked like it might rain any moment. We were besieged by hairbraiders. Politely decline if you are not interested and they will leave you alone. BIL & sister arrived on the shuttle just as it began to sprinkle. The van driver we had connected with was trying to line up more passengers, he was talking to a large party (8-10) and they were trying to negotiate their rate to $3 when BIL spotted a beautiful white limo. Sister said wonder how much so I asked - he said $40 for all of us. BIL jumped at it - sometimes in his situation comfort is more important than cost. DH laughed at me because I had been so intent on bargaining with the other driver as he followed BIL to the limo. This made the van driver angry. BIL gave him $10 and thanked him for arranging the shuttle to front for him. (We later found out this was complimentary - you just had to be patient if you wanted to use it.) We enjoyed the limo ride to Atlantis which took about 15 minutes and the limo driver gave us his phone number to call when we were ready to leave. The van driver approached us again in anger -- we just ignored him and entered the resort.
The rain stopped just as we arrived. The clouds disappeared and it was beautiful the rest of the day.

Atlantis is gorgeous. We all found different games to try -- I like the 25 cent video poker myself and we played for about an hour. We had lunch at one on the restaurants just off the casino, enjoyed wandering around the deck overlooking the marina (DH picked out the yacht he would buy if he ever wins the lottery!).
Lunch was a little on the pricey side for burgers and salads - about $60 but the service was great. DH has always wanted to play some of the table games so he and BIL and sister each layed $100 on the blackjack table and played at $15 a hand (Yikes!!) I figured they'd be done in 10 minutes so I wandered over to the deck overlooking the beach area for a few minutes. Well much to my surprise they were all winning so I left them alone and wander off again. I sure didn't want to jinx them! Came back about 30 minutes later and they were still all on the plus side. It was about 3:30 so decided to call it an afternoon. Went to guest services in the casino and asked them to call the limo driver. While waiting on him saw a fellow win $6000 after playing the $1 slot for only 10 minutes. Boy was he excited!! Limo driver arrived and we returned to the square in Nassau. The courtesy shuttle was right at the gate so no waiting; we went straight back to the ship.

Checked on DS as soon as we boarded and he didn't want to leave the club so sister & BIL went to their cabin and DH & I went to get ready for Palo's. DS beeped that he was on the way to sister's cabin and called when he got their. We left for Palo. Sister took DS to the pool and BIL just rested in their cabin til time to go to Triton's. They enjoyed Triton's and we loved Palo's.

We were seated at a window table and able to enjoy the sun set over Nassau and watch as the lights came on all over the island. DH couldn't decide between two entrees so Quinn brought him the Chilean Sea bass and the filet. DH was in heaven. We had the chocolate souffle for dessert. He brought a plate which he written "Happy Anniversary" on in chocolate syrup and decorated with other colors. The couple next to us was on their honeymoon - he did the same for them. DS came by the room to say good nite - he stayed with sister and BIL that evening. Hey this was working out great! We enjoyed the rest of the evening on the verandah and in the cabin!
