We are visiting both TL and BB on our upcoming trip and would love some help with what to bring with us. So far on the list I have:

Sunscreen
Sunglasses
Eyeglass straps for sons glasses

Goggles? My kids wear them in the pool- should we bring them to water park?

Water shoes? Are these allowed?

What else?

I doubt the kids will actually wear their goggles at the water parks. If you're willing to tote them, though, there is no harm in bringing them just in case.

Water shoes are allowed but must be removed and hand-held on the body slides. Most kids will just go barefoot through the park instead.

I always bring water hats for my son and myself. I have a visor made out of bathing-suit material, and my son also has a waterproof hat (purchased at TL, actually), but he hardly ever wears it.

I sometimes use a waterproof pouch to hold my cell phone and credit card. Sometimes I just use a locker, instead. It's really about whether I want to take photos or not.

No idea about goggles but if you are staying on site you should bring towels or rent them from the park.
Last time we bought sandwiches and the resort refill cups with us but this trip we are renting a cabana.
Water shoes are fine but must be removed on certain slides and as well no bathing suits w/ metal hardware is allowed.

Goggles -- my sons 12 & 15 like to go to the deepest point in the wave pool at Typhoon lagoon. This is why they bring their goggles. They will spend about an hour in the wave pool, do a few slides, back in the wave pool. They would also use them in the resort pool. Never on slides. I don't think they used them at Blizzard Beach.

Since I don't go in the pools, I am the pack mule for the water parks. I bring a large beach bag with towels, goggles, water bottles, sunblock. While waiting for the park to open, the kids give me their shirts and shoes and sunglasses and phones and they race off to whatever the number one slide is. I find a spot and dump all of that stuff.

I keep a small bag with me to carry phones, my reader, money, camera and ibuprofen. Not much else is necessary.

For awhile I had seen people with those water proof phone pouches. Honestly, I was skeptical - there's just something unnatural about purposely taking a rather expensive smartphone IN the water.

But we bought one anyway. Used it last September at TL. Have to say, we got the most incredible photos and videos. Some of the wave pool action shots in/under the water were really great/unique.

So while I would rather just leave my phone in the locker all day under normal circumstances, I liked the water proof pouch and will definitely use it again if in a situation where I want photos or need my phone in the park.

And I vote goggles as well. My DS usually wants them in the wave pool / lazy river.

I second water proof phone pouches!! We used those at Volcano Bay last summer. Definitely a must have!!! I am so glad to know that the pouches are allowed at Disney water parks.

We bring sunscreen, towels, sunglasses and most of us wear water sandals. DH brings his GoPro camera and we leave the phones in the locker.

Bring refillable water bottles or your refillable resort mugs. Water parks are prime opportunities to become dehydrated. From being in the water, people tend to feel refreshed and don't realize how fast their bodies are expiring.

I'll third the suggestion of the waterproof phone pouch. These things are amazing. I also use it to keep an eye on the weather...if it looks like a storm is brewing, you can check the radar and see if it's coming your way or not. Helped us avoid a horrendous 2 hour long thunderstorm once. We headed to the lockers, changed, and were in our Uber heading back to the hotel just as the skies opened up.

My kids who wear glasses use prescription goggles ($20 TYR ones) rather than wear their glasses. They just leave them on all the time.

Yeah, that's an excellent point about the weather / having that easily accessible with you while in a water park.

Any recommendations for waterproof cases? I have to admit I'm a bit scared to bring my phone in the water.

We drive to park.

Locker:
Wallet/purse, MagicBands, phones

Bag we put on chairs:
Beach towels (odd crappy ones from home so no one wants them)
Sunlotion
Couple bottles of water
Water Camera (which we take on slides etc with us)

When we go with a group we take coolers with drinks and snacks.

At least DS1 and I wear water shoes. The ground is hot and sometimes rough. We don't do the big body slides but on everything else we can keep them on.

Really Helpful! Silly Q- why does magic band go in locker and not stay on wrist? Does it fall off down the slides/wave pool?

any recommendations on where to seek out best chairs with shade if we get there before park open for both TL and BB?

We wear our magic bands. They don't fall off. However, I also tuck a credit card in my phone pouch for the inevitable "our systems are down and we can't process magic band charges." That actually happened on our last trip. I had a Disney gift card that saved the day at lunchtime.

One thing about glasses, I am blind as a bat with out mine. I use prescription sunglasses for the waterpark.

If your son likes the surf pool at TL, then make sure that you have a really good strap for his glasses. I find myself taking off and holding my glasses while I get hit by the wave. They are powerful and can knock you around a bit.

I was not able to wear goggles on the big slide at BB. We could wear them in the surf and wave pools.
