I love credit cards so much! v6.0 - 2023 (see first page for add'l details)

Has anyone else noticed Amex being slow to credit offers? My daughter used the card on June 10 at Bravo, we had added a $10 off $40 for Bravo, and so far, nothing. Not even the email that the offer was used. Odd because even though Chase seems to take forever, Amex was always within days.

Yeah, I have had a 2 week lag time on cell phone credits and Clear credits on my Business Platinum cards.

Does anyone know if third party purchased park tickets will trigger the Chase Freedom Flex bonus category for entertainment? I know from reading the fine print that direct purchased park tickets will work, but hoping to use discounted rates provided elsewhere.

I know Undercover Tourist codes as Travel on Chase. I think purchasing park tickets directly from Disney codes as Entertainment. If it were me, I would run the numbers both ways and calculate the Cash Back you would earn from both and go with whichever came out cheapest in the end. I need to purchase MNSSHP tickets and I am hoping they'll code as entertainment on Freedom.

Accckkk!!!! I didn't realize what day it was. I need to use my Dell credit. I jumped on the website and tummy need nothing they have in stock. I like the samsung earbuds... but they're over $200
Agree on the smart home devices. We recently got the Nest thermostat. I honestly don't know how I lived without it before. Being able to change the temp from your phone anywhere is priceless (for the lazy).

Yes they’ve slowed down to a couple weeks in some cases. They completely missed my Conrad offers last month and I chatted them over a month after the purchases. They were credited within days of that.

On another note, is August a terrible month to visit Japan? We're from central Virginia so we are used to disgusting summer weather. May would be the other option. I know the weather is better but it can be crowded

I think there's a thing in Aug that causes locals to travel too though maybe not as much as golden week. Japan kids go back to school the beginning of Sept. I just remember from all my googling of it that Sept was better than Aug as far as crowds. As for the heat, hard to say. Whenever it comes up in discussion in the FB group I follow the answers are all over the place but none have traveled in july/Aug yet. But I also see articles about how to keep cool and what to buy.

Just picked up the IHG Biz. I got the 'working on it - we'll let you know in 7 to 10 days'.

It immediately popped to the Chase sign in page where my new card was waiting.

I was trying to wait until end of July but had fomo that the offer would disappear.

YAY me!!!

I also have the $49 card so now I can do my drive down and back to Disney for $148 (cost of two annual fees) using both free nights, or $74 each way. It saves me roughly half the room cost or more. Marriott picks up my other free nights on the road, as I make this trip 2-4 times a year.

Meanwhile I now get the 4th night free option, which I may be able to use by next summer with my points haul. I've had that option in the past - not sure how or if it was deleted as an option on my $49 card.

Now I'm wondering how long Doc's Hilton card offer will last...looked it up - until July 19. That works.

I'm slightly confused about the Hilton card FNC's - which card gives it yearly or do any? I won't be spending 20K a year to get one. I could read all this but don't have time right now.

Closed two Ink cards last week and just applied and approved for a new one. I'll use it to take care of Q3 taxes. Next up is to cancel one of my Amex Biz Platinums once I use the Dell credit.

I've felt the weather in the last couple days was disgustingly humid! Plus thunderstorms yesterday evening.

I've always wondered if I'm missing out not getting any IHG cards when I read others doing so. I'm always just chasing Hyatt stays to maintain or earn status. Currently finishing a mattress run at the cheap cat 1 Hyatt Place near me to get globalist back thanks to the Bilt promo.

I'm not sure if you're missing out, but my P2 had an IHG and we just gifted the pts to our DS for his b'day to stay in a hotel in NYC for 2 nights (which would have cost him $1000) and I just grabbed it for the 175k elevated offer and have enough for a 4 nights stay (3 nights on pts + 1 free) now.

Not sure how long we'll keep them. I'm not sure we stay enough at hotels to warrant doing anything other than getting free stays here and there, we're kind of brand agnostic although I was mostly Marriott when I was still working/traveling and had stockpiled some points, plus got a 100k offer. Now we've tended to use Airbnbs and week long rentals and pepper in random hotel stays.

Having said all that, I'd love to find a beach IHG in the US and go for 4 nights, lol.

There's an oceanfront Holiday Inn in Surfside Beach (basically Myrtle Beach). I've never been so I'm not sure it's anything to write home about, but I've had it on my radar because it's oceanfront and only a 4 hr drive from us.

We have been to the Holiday Inn Cape Canaveral Beach Resort previously. They have 3 pools, hot tubs, kids splash area, and a short private walkway to the beach. We actually saw a Space Center scheduled rocket take off from the beach which was really cool. We stayed here prior to a cruise, but I would be willing to go back for a few days and enjoy the beach area as it seemed nice.

Ok...I took your advice. Lol. I bought a nest. With tax and everything it was $263. I split the payment: $200 on amex and the rest on DH's CIP for spend. The reason I decided on it is that we really need a new thermostat and I was looking to spend about $50 anyway. This is a huge upgrade... and so credit card points math strikes again.

Any strategy on how to save on Airbnbs? We usually stay at hotels, but looks like Airbnb is our best option for the next trip I'm planning. The best I could think of is 1.25 PYB at grocery store for using my CSR. Appreciate if anyone has any advice!

We have two of these in our house and they're great. Note, though, that there can be compatibility issues. I think it works in most homes but some older ones may not have one of the wires it needs.

Just thinking about Amex...since I was in pop-up hell for so long. I currently have the following Amex (almost all gotten in the last year since the pop up went away). I'm just wondering if I'm going to shoot myself in the foot again. At this point, looking at the Amex cards....At some point I MAY want to get a personal Plat but it would be when I could possibly triple dip it and I'm not 100% sold w/ the AF being so high now. I may want the Delta Plat (personal) at some point if there is a decent SUB. When my diamond runs out I may upgrade the honors or surpass to the Aspire. But TBH I haven't gotten any Diamond perks as of late and Gold gets the same F&B credits, so IDK. But I think that may be it for Amex cards. I know everyone likes the BBP but don't think that's one I need to snag. So I guess I would be okay pissing off Amex, LOL.

Amex Surpass (open 10/17....keeper, I try to earn the FNC every year)
Amex Everyday (open 1/19...keepers as my MR card)
Amex Hilton Honors (open 3/22...keeping in hopes of upgrade offer)
Amex Gold Biz (opened in Oct to pay for my dad's funeral)
Amex Delta Plat Biz (open 2/23...will likely downgrade back to the gold, I had before)
Amex Hilton Biz (open 10/19, closed 11/20, open again 5/23)

I have my union dues post to my Hilton Honors ($90/mo) to keep a spend on it. But I'm only keeping it in hopes I get an upgrade. Otherwise I would close it. I don't think I've ever gotten an upgrade offer on my Surpass though, so I'm not hopeful.

I see no value in the Amex gold biz. I'm hitting myself I did that card. But I was in pop-up hell and I had a preapproval email. I don't put any spend on it since the SUB hit.

The Delta Plat biz, I'll likely downgrade back to the Delta Gold biz. I cancelled that card to get a slot to do the Plat. The only card I haven't done is the personal delta plat. I'll do that some day. I don't think it's worth keeping for any reason. I doubt I'd use the companion pass for $250. And the Gold gets the same discount on miles tickets, right?

I think once the year hits on the Hilton Biz I'll close it again. I have the surpass already for all the same benefits. And I'll have a Delta card to get the "biz" offers that sometimes come up. Anyone have a DP on how often people have gotten this card? I'm on my 2nd, LOL.

The Aspire is the only card with a "free" annual FNC. You can earn them for $15k spend w/ the Surpass and Biz. TBH, I MS on the Surpass and earn it. I normally put my homeowners on the card, and then random spending here and there (groceries if no other card has an offer). But the bulk of my $15k is normally VCG. Now I have the Surpass and the Biz. I'm sure I'll cancel one of them (probably the Biz next year) and focus on only meeting the FNC spend on one of them. Unless my MS game really steps up. The issue is here the Staples all sell out too fast. And I don't like having the VGC from there as it's harder to funnel them. I like the GCs from OD...those I can do $200 loads at WM with and knock out much faster!
