ANNUAL PASSES ARE BACK!!!

I don't think it really renewed on 3/2 though. What you see in MDE is an expiration date, that meant it expired on 3/2 and thus the new expiration is also 3/2. If a pass crosses a 2/29 date, then you get a bonus day, but I don't think that is relevant to the expiration dates.

My previous pass was activated on 3/2/2022 with an expiration date of 3/2/23..no leap use day in that.

Now, my new pass has an expiration date of 3/2/2024.

Had I not renewed it, I would have been able to use it on 3/2/2023.

Unlike my daughter who had her first date of pass use on 10/7/2022 but it expires 10/6/23

The is probably has been asked somewhere in the previous 1k posts but didn’t show up when I searched.

Regarding park hopping with a Sorcerer AP, one article I read mentioned you couldn’t park hop to MK as your 2nd park on weekends. I didn’t see this exception in the fine print at bottom of the Disney purchase page. Is this outdated info or still a policy?

Thanks in advance for any clarification

That is only if you don't have a park reservation already, I believe. Starting April 18th, APs can enter any park after 2 pm without a park reservation except for the Magic Kingdom on weekends.

You can park hop to MK, you just can't enter after 2pm into MK without a reservation unless you are hopping.

You can park hop to every park every day. APs don’t need park reservations for any park they want to visit after 2 pm.

The exception is MK on weekends. you must have a park reservation somewhere, in order to enter MK on weekends.

Basically, you have to start at one if the three other parks with a reservation, go there first, and then you can park hop to MK.

Starting April 18 AP holders can enter any park without a park reservation after 2pm, EXCEPT the Magic Kingdom on weekends. You will still need to hold a reservation to enter MK and or another park then hop after 2pm

Ok. Thanks for the clarification. We were worried we couldn’t hit up MK in the evenings after visiting another park

I activated a new Pixie pass on Feb 7, 2023 (verified by records of another appointment I had the same day in Celebration) and my MDE says it expires Feb 6, 2024.

However, that does not cover the leap year day, Feb 29, 2024.

My DD activated a pass on Oct 7th and it expires Oct 6th..but mine renewed on 3/2 and expires 3/2/24

Could it be any more confusing?

I hope that if your daughter renews her AP, the new one starts on 10/7/23 - if it starts on 10/6/23, she's being charged for Leap Year, getting 365 days exactly!

She will be renewing it for sure because I am paying half the cost!! Lol.

Cheaper than me helping her with day tickets when she decides last minute she wants to come!!

But, I will say that this was a Gold Voucher renewal that was set to expire in the 23rd of October thst she had never used..and the CM let her pay the difference and start a new pass. So, in the end, she is still a winner!!

Just curious, and sorry if it's been asked repeatedly, what's the current price for Sorcerer Pass renewal?

I have tickets as part of a package for May but haven't paid the final payment yet. Were yours already fully paid?
It's unlikely you can upgrade package tickets before arrival. However, since you haven't PIF yet, you can cancel the tickets off your package making it a "basic package" which is a room-only following package terms for PIF/cancellation. Then purchase the APs.

I believe this is correct, though other than maybe a few Pixie passes activated in the past month or so I've only seen a couple of reports.

In the past, an AP was valid for essentially 1 year + 1 day -- it expired a year to the day that you activated it for first use. For example if you activated it on 4/14/2022 it expired on 4/14/2023 (366 days). In the past year or so since the new APs were put in place, that hasn't been true. Newly activated passes have only been valid for 365 days (activated on 4/14/2022 expired on 4/13/2023). This doesn't impact renewals, which automatically expire the same day following year so it's always been 365. However, I do expect leap year to give everyone the extra day - new passes and renewals.

$823 + 6.5% tax = $875.50, with PhotoPass downloads = $965.96
Are renewals always discounted? I'm looking at an Incredi-pass.. If I buy for $1399+tax this year, will next year be discounted? Is it a percentage? I'm guessing the rack rate will go up

Generally, the renewal price is 15% off the new-pass price. That's been constant for a number of years now - but of course isn't a guarantee for the future!

And Disney does tend to increase prices once or more a year. They increased all the AP prices earlier in 2023, even though they weren't selling any new APs (except FL Pixie Dust), because it automatically increased the prices for renewals, which they were still selling.

Oh that is good to know. I assumed it was always the same.

We're all the way from Idaho and DVC members with two trips planned before the SP was announced and now a third with potentially a fourth after the pass was announced. We're now trying to figure out how many trips we can make. It's amazing how the pass for us as first time pass holders has created a new demand to get to the parks.
Same here. We honestly only had one WDW trip and a Carnival Cruise planned this year. We were going to bank the rest of our points and maybe try to go to Aulani & WDW next year. But now that we are new AP holders, I’m rethinking this whole plan and want to figure out more WDW trips this year. In our case, since we already have 2 long trips planned, we will have to make a couple short weekend trips as we can. I’m so excited though!!

This is why I always thought Disney looking down at AP holders because their average daily spend is lower is short sighted. I'm sure there are some locals who pop in and ride a few rides and never spend much in the parks. But there have to be a lot of people like you who probably spend a LOT more overall with an AP than without one.

Then again what do I know? They have ridiculous amounts of data they use to calculate all this, and I'm just some dude on a message board. But what I'm 100% sure of, is even if AP holders are "undesirable" guests, you don't say it out loud, lol. That's a bad look, Chapek. Very bad.

Our first visit to Disney World was 12 years ago and we’ve been hooked ever since. We were about broke back then, but I knew I wanted my children to get to go to the one place I always dreamed of, but never got to go as a child. I scrimped and saved, sold on eBay, did more online surveys than I can count to make it happen for my family. As we got older our finances improved and it was easier to afford to go. We have spent tons of money going over the years. Now my kids are grown up and have kids of their own. I felt such happiness last year when my little two year old grandson got to see Mickey for the first time and when he got to ride Dumbo with me. After that trip, I finally convinced my husband to purchase DVC because I knew I wanted to see my grandkids grow up going too. There’s just something so special about WDW to me. And I think being an AP holder now, means I will spend more money there because I will go more often than once a year, plus my kids and grandkids will be coming along too sometimes, which brings in more money. We don’t pack lunches or bring a cooler for the parks either, we eat out for every single meal while we are there. So they are definitely still making money off of my family, even if we have an AP.

We had success Thursday AM, after just a couple hours of dwarves. handed the mouse TONS of money, and now re-evalutating and changing all of our plans for this year. Already changed our planned resort only June stay from SSR, to now a split between BWV and AKL, and may change it more. Now on to the park reservations.
Just to be clear, we wont' need them at all if entering parks after 2PM? (except MK on weekends)
and if we did have a reservation, say for Epcot, but then just showed up at HS without having first gone to Epcot, would that be ok? or just cancel the Epcot and show up at HS?

Any park, except MK on weekends, you can enter after 2 pm without the reservation.

If you book something else, and don’t go, just cancel it…no one yet knows what the system will do when you get if you haven’t tapped into the first park,

Right now, that is required,,,and will continue to be the way it is for ticket holders…but it’s possible CMs will have a way to deal with it once this starts.

We plan to just cancel if we don’t go to what we have reserved for the morning! Weekends for visiting MK, you have to reserve another park first, enter, and then can park hop after 2 pm…or, you need to reserve MK that day.
