I do M.K. a bit differently as I've been there 50 or more times.
Crowds for the Party night have been increasing over the past few years.
I'm thinking of doing an non party night and throwing the Dessert Party in for a safe to me spot to see the Fireworks show with some hot tea and treats.

Priority safe spot for fireworks (yeah I was once accosted by a very drunk park goer during fireworks,,,).
Max 5-6 rides
Mainstreet shopping.

I'm also looking at
Ferrytale cruise
I think I can get a DVC discount on this
**Look Tinkerone I'm thinking about a Cruise*** Hugs Hon

I look forward to when my son is older and/or I can go solo and do all the things I like lol. But for now, we do rides, rides and more rides. Then we eat, and do more rides. Sitting still for a dessert party is not something he'll do. We don't even stop for the fireworks if he has his way. Someday I'll be able to see the whole show from the front of the castle lol.

It's a start, lol.

This looks interesting. I have looked into the small boat fireworks package. It doesn't include desserts as such but has some snacks and sodas/water. What I like about this is it would just be our group and since we are a group of 7, it would save some $$.

But the dessert one....looks so fun.

Mel, we did that one time. It was the BEST. A drink before we got on the boat, and Mickey bars as we got off (naturally, it goes without saying that this might not happen now). The food and drinks on the boat was great, the fireworks were awesome, and we were the only one on the bus back to our resort.

So update day....
Not really a whole lot to report. Things have settled in much more the second week. Schedules seem to be more consistent. She only has one long day each week and it's a looooong one....8am-11pm. The rest of the week it's very on and off. She will work maybe 2 hours then have a 2-3 hour break, then work another 2 hours etc. Port days she has most of the day off and then works from the late afternoon through the evening. Last Saturday a small group went to Epcot for a little less than 3 hours....they had to leave by 12:30 to have plenty of time to get back to the ship. I thought they were crazy to do it but apparently a lot of crew do it. One of her friends has a car at the port so I guess this will be a frequent Saturday morning thing.

I'm in peak packing/work stress mode. I know when it's kicked in at the point that I stop eating and can't sleep. I was wide awake at 4:45am today. We fly Thursday night after work so I've got to be completely ready to go Wednesday night and still need to squeeze in a full work week before I leave. I'm hoping to leave work by 3pm Thursday...we have to drop off the dog and head to the airport at 4pm. Yikes! Yesterday I bought DH a new pair of dress pants to wear for formal night and dropped them off to be hemmed.....I guessed at the length, hope that goes well. I still need a pair of shoes to go with my dress....I've bought 5 pair and the ones I really like don't fit well. So when the heck am I going to have time to find a pair AND return the ones I've got now. On the upside, DD gave me a list of things she needs and all have been ordered and will arrive today...thank you Amazon.

That’s so fun and exciting! What a cool opportunity for you all. I’ve been following your stories - I hope it ends up being a wonderful experience for her!

I follow a pro figure skater on a cruise ship on YouTube and it’s kind of fun to see behind the curtain. Although, I worked at a ski resort in my 20s and it’s not that different. Just a different form of water 😅😂

Would it be manageable if we did parks until 12pm, resort/pool until dinner, then back to the parks?

We changed our annual family trips to August once we no longer wanted the kids to miss school but have done trips May, June, August and September, all equally as hot. We picked late August as a last hurrah before going back to school and it interfered less with summer sports, jobs etc.

Your leave the park plan is what we usually follow. It will rain every day in the afternoon, usually 30 minutes but less than an hour, sometimes as early as 1pm but always by 4pm. It can throw off pool time as pools close once lightning is in the area so you could return for pool time just as they are closing. Some of our group likes to go straight to the pool from the park during break, others would gamble and eat lunch first. It's also a great time to nap and explore resorts and resort activities depending on where you are staying.

Occasionally, we stay in the park through the day. The key is to not spend a long time standing in the heat, get enough water and air conditioning (restaurants, shops, indoor attractions, buses and monorails all blast the air conditioning). One of our daughters has a problem with the heat so is inside more, the other brings a sweater to the park as Disney air conditioning is cold.

We usually go back into the park around 4-5pm (the rain takes some of the heat away) to catch last cavalcades, shows etc.

So in our opinion, manageable, definitely! Unbearably hot standing in the heat in the afternoon, definitely!

. I scored my Xmas DVC reservation whether I keep or rent we will see. This Xmas will be discovery cove sea world Busch gardens and hopefully enough airmiles to order MVMCP tickets for the crew. I always like to have stuff to plan.

I'm throwing this out there as a plea for anyone & everyone who is willing to send out positive thoughts to whatever your higher power might be, in whatever form that might take - our trip is coming fast and furious and the possibility of needing to postpone due to my mom's health is crashing down around my ears. So much uncertainty surrounding the entire issue that I'm almost immobilized by the weight of the situation. I'm forcing myself to make parks reservations and ADRs so we don't get stuck, everything other than the flights can be pushed forward if need be. I know that Disney has a great track record for non-refundable things like the After Hours events we've booked on compassionate basis, we have a room only reservation that I can easily or move, hotel at YYZ is refundable until 5 days before check-in and I didn't book transportation between either airport yet. Flights we got with miles and if those are lost, so be it.

Just hate not knowing what the next day will bring - no plans yet as to where we're headed. Mom's listed as Palliative Long Term care, needs 24/7 supervision, unable to care for herself if she's not prompted, has a bizarre grasp on time and space but is ODDLY CHEERFUL! She has a brain tumor that is growing at an unknown rate so there's really no timeline available.

We lost my brother just before Christmas. He was a pastor with great faith, he has helped me get through many things.

I'm really sorry to hear that. Unfortunately I have experience with terminal brain tumors and it was very stressful. My brother had 5 tumors. Be sure to take care of yourself too!

Jac,,,please plan all and wish for the best. As you know I see this everyday. As my own dad said when he was going thru treatment,,,dont stop living,,,Things will take their own course and the planning will be a distraction.
Wishing you and the whole family the best.

Jacqui, I'm sorry that you are going through this. It is all consuming. Sending prayers for both you and your mom.
