Favourite chocolate?

To each their own. Ghiardelli Chocolate (which originated in Italy) is mighty fine, and so is Lindt (Switzerland.)

I care more about whether it's milk chocolate vs dark chocolate. Again, it's a matter of personal taste.

I'm not the biggest chocolate fan and do prefer dark chocolate. Ghirardelli is probably the best for what I'm willing to spend on it.

Kinder and Milka are all I can eat. And that's even with me not being fond of any chocolate.

I love Cadbury Dairy Milk. Don't care for Lindt- I find it to be too buttery tasting. I like dark chocolate with a raspberry filling.

Dark chocolate usually Ghirardelli or Lindt. I have some milk chocolate around the holidays usually Lindt but prefer dark chocolate.

The company originated in San Francisco but the founder was Italian and apprenticed in the candy making business before heading to Peru. But the current Ghiardelli is owned by Lindt. It's in their history although it doesn't mention the 20 or so years in Peru.

I rather miss Sharffen Berger. I mean - it still exists as a brand, but Hershey bought it and closed down the operations. I'd been on the factory tour in an old Heinz pickle factory in Berkeley, California but it was on a weekend when they weren't doing any production. Hershey also bought my favorite confectioner, which was Joseph Schmidt Confections of San Francisco. They didn't specifically make their chocolate, but they bought their bulk chocolate from a Belgian supplier and made the most amazing egg-shaped truffles. It took a few years before Hershey shut them down because they apparently lost a lot of money.

Sees, Cadbury almond bars, Toblerone, Lindt, Dove....

See's doesn't make chocolate though. They're a candymaker. Their supplier is Guittard which has a factory really close to See's Northern California factory. I remember when they packed a sheet in their boxes that showed some of the ingredients including from Guittard and C&H.

Dove is actually Mars. And Mars chocolate quality is actually quite good, as in good enough for higher end confections like their Ethel M division.

It is kind of sad that Nestle left the US candy market.

Thankfully or maybe unfortunately I’ve never had chocolate I didn’t like. I do love anything that is dark chocolate and orange or dark chocolate and raspberry but I’m not picky.

I can take or leave chocolate but, when we are near Rockefeller Center I splurge on a small bag of Teuscher chocolates. They literally melt in your mouth, so good.
