Kite show 🙃

Sounds like what someone says when they are trying to get you to chance a blind date with someone.

I love kites, I was kinda excited .......... now I think the theater is cursed.
I'm admittedly pretty cynical about Disney's newer offerings but I did actually feel some optimism about this show. I wasn't expecting anything spectacular, just a cute, fun diversion to spend 20 minutes on.

Epcot Forever did absolutely nothing for me (Illuminations all the way!) but I enjoyed the kites. Kites are fun! How do you screw up kites?

The big kites in this show just look like the characters died and now someone is flying them around the lake. Seriously. They look like floppy corpses. I just can't.

We were at the show today. I think some of it was not performed. There were Simba and Zazu kites that never too flight but were docked. And yes Baloo ended up in the empty stands… we couldn’t figure out if it was a mistake. I was super excited to get the chance to preview this show and came out of it feeling like it’s a good addition but hopeful they’ll work the kinks out by Friday.608697

It seems like there's also an entire Lion King "section" as well as a Nemo "section." Are these usually performed all together for a show of like 30 minutes, or interspersed throughout the day so you could watch up to 3 separate 10-minute shows? Does anyone know?

I read to not get too excited about this show and equate it to a cavalcade going by in the MK. I thought Rivers of Light was a one and done. I will stop and check this out but keep my expectations low.

My guess is that AK will now start selling kites as souvenirs!

Could you imagine those HUMONGOUS barges in that lagoon. It would fill it up.?

But then it would be easy to see the screens.

It makes me sad to think of those barges at Epcot sitting there all day ruining the view.

The people with the poles......are they a new design or are they from the Nemo show?

True and they'd work better than the Rivers of Light water screens.

I personally think is obscene what they did to the Epcot lagoon. It completely ruins the entire World Showcase view. Just huge piles of junk trashing the water.

Well, people love the puppet style, including me. They clearly are not of the same designer as Nemo, he is a legit Broadway designer. These look like a school group project. Cute but not Disney level work.

I felt like I was watching a school play . A really bad, poor planned school play where the costume design carried the show. I like the elephants on a stick.. all the jet ski stuff can go away.

Nailed it. School play level, honestly I've seen better school plays. The puppets etc all look like students made them, the kites are not working properly and anyone with a "seadoo" could zip around pulling a kite. Where is the craftsmanship, where is the engineering, where is the Disney WOW level?

I get it, there is a big theater going to waste ... but they should stop throwing spaghetti at it hoping it sticks. Disney needs to live up to their own standards, not whittle them away.

From what I understand from my FIL who is a crew chief on the show, there are 2 separate shows - a Jungle Book one and a Lion King one that run separately multiple times throughout the day. And, fwiw, it's a show you're supposed to be able to watch/catch in passing... which it seems like most will do based on what I've seen... :scared:

This is a many times a day show, right? I think for that it probably works.

If this is supposed to a send-off show, though, no way.

But anything is better in that spot than nothing.

Got to love the folks with the front row view but don't seem to notice?
