Gen Xers in Canada are making AstraZeneca cool :)

It's been a fun week on social media now that many provinces in Canada have opened up AstraZeneca vaccinations to 40+ since we had unused doses with the previous 55+ restrictions.

With so much of social media and the news filled with reports of vaccine hesitancy, this lighthearted #GenXZeneca trend has been a breath of fresh air. And the memes are hilarious! I posted a link in a different thread but it's too good not to get its own thread. Love this grassroots movement that will hopefully help in overcoming some vaccine hesitancy

A vaccine with minuscule, don’t even worry about it risk? Puh-leeze. This is GenX. We ate Pop Tarts for breakfast and got babysat after school by Y&R. We spent decades on oral birth control. And now we’re crashing all the pharmacy websites for that sweet, sweet AZ.


Everyone: Is AstraZeneca really safe?
GenX: Bring it! We survived no seat belts, lead paint & always rode our bikes straight down the hill without helmets. Gimme that damn needle!

I'm in for sure. I'm solidly GenX and found a pharmacy to get that sweet, sweet AZ into my veins within about 48 hours of it being approved for 40+ in BC.

All I can say about my willingness to sit in that pharmacy chair to get my shot...

This is very cool, although some of those eligible for the AZ are millennials
My best friend turned 40 in February and she’s a millennial who just got her shot yesterday.
It‘s actually funny because most people who think of millennials think those in their 20s., meanwhile they can be 40! Anyway ... Loving this nevertheless. I’m turning 39 this year, and hope it’s my turn soon too.

In NS they haven't opened it up to below 55 yet. Maybe that is due to supply though.

I'm 41 and getting mine Friday morning. If you had told me a month ago that the 40+ group would be rushing to get vaccinated and the 55+ group avoiding them I wouldn't believe you.

Sounds like your son is GenZ like my three boys (21 and 19 yr old twins). All three will be rolling up their sleeves for whatever they can get, as soon as they can get it.
