Oh, gosh--in Chicago? That sounds rough in the winter.
Chicagoans are tough. Lol. Even in the rain and snow, Portillo's people are out there. In our recent 'deep freeze' I can't say if they were outside as much since I had no occasion to pass one but they've been doing it literally 20-30 years. I live in (and grew up in) the town where Portillo's started and they've been doing it that way as long as I can remember.

Does anyone have TMobile service? Are you happy with it? DH wants to move our new iPhones from Boostmobile to TMobile.
I switched from Sprint to T-Mobile a few months back. Despite the fact that T-Mobile now merged with Sprint, it saved me $100 per month. I originally had Sprint for years as it was the only service we could get in our office in the hospital basement. Literally no one else could get phone calls. Since T-Mobile and Sprint merged, their network is bigger and I have had no problems.

There's a reason I only lasted four years in Chicago!!! Honestly it was the longest four years of my life.

It works well enough in most areas, but we hike a lot and DH's phone (att) always does much better than mine (T-Mobile) when more remote.

Thanks! DH and I are headed to change our service and are start using our new iPhone 12s! Our new 3 line service will cost the same as our current 4 line service but hopefully it works better. And it does have international service so that will be nice when we can start traveling again.

Portillos in MN does this too. Although we were in a record cold snap for 2 weeks in Feb, and dh went to pick up the heart shaped cake and they did not have anyone outside that time. Thank goodness, since it was like -8 air temp at that time.

I don't remember living in MN, but it was a place my family didn't last long. My sister (13 years older) says she can't believe my parents' marriage survived our two winters there:)

And I can't imagine what a cold snap in MN is like.

We have T-Mobile after having Verizon for several years. It works well in our area, but we live in a metropolitan area of about a million people. Anytime we go out to the country or hiking though in the mountains, we don’t have signal. My mom who still has Verizon always has signal. So if in a remote or less populated area, it may not work so well. For us it’s been fine, we just have to use offline gps when traveling sometimes.

Trying to figure out the points for AMEX hilton surpass and CSP. Is it better to use the hilton or CSP at restaurants? I get 6x pts for the hilton and 2x pts for the CSP. TIA!

CSP gets 1.25 cent per point with PYB or through the travel portal, so 2x is like getting 2.5% on your purchase. I value Hilton at about 0.4 cent per point, so that's like getting 2.4% on your purchase. UR are more flexible, so that gives it the edge. But if you want to keep spend on Amex to keep them happy (and hopefully avoid the pop-up), the Surpass would be a good choice too.

depends on how u value the points.

6x x .006 (hilton) = .036
2x x .015 (csr) = .03

you will need to change the .006/.015 to fit how u value 1 Hilton point/1 UR point. in the case above, Hilton would be more valuable, however i still swipe CSP for the convenience of UR point.

Does any know if a Disney World charge towards a vacation package is eligible to redeem Altitude Reserve points via "Real Time Rewards" at the 1.5 multiplier rate ?

@gottalovepluto may be able to help answer this one

This one for me would come down to having a very specific reason for accumulating Hilton points. I wouldn’t put spend on a Hilton card unless it’s for MSR, a specific redemption in mind, or attempting to hit 15k spend for the free night. I personally find more value in UR’s. OR, as was mentioned keeping some amount of spend on the card to keep AMEX happy.

It’s funny I grew up in Wa. state where we actually had seasons, but being in Az. for the past 20 years has made me such a wimp 😂 if it hits 30 degrees I think I’m going to freeze to death. 😂 Also our kids being Az. natives are REALLY soft. You should see my son bundle up before school when it’s 40 degrees in the morning. He looks like he’s ready to go skiing 🤣. When you guys bring up the weather I take a look outside and keep my mouth shut 😉
