thank you for this! Ive tried Incognito and gotten nothing but the 75k offer but decided to get serious and do everything you suggested - 125k! (Faint dead away) now I’m using up all these 2020 credits like the smart churner Y’all have taught me to be.

Congratulations! I'm glad it worked out for you! Thanks for lifting my spirits

ETA: if your grocery store sells Disney gift cards, and you’re 100% sure you’re going to use them, you could buy them with your CSR earning 3x/points (until Apr 30) and use your points to erase the purchase. A great way to use URs to pay for Disney and potentially earn extra points in the process

Thanks for the reminder. DVC Dues season is coming up, so I'll either use my CSP (1.25x PYB) or my wife's CSR (1.5x PYB).

ETA: Easy to transfer points to wife's CSR. Just needed the card number and last name.

There is no maximum limit. You’re only limited by the amount of points you have 😉 I personally just erased enough charges to bring my closing balance to $0. But you could likely erase so many purchases that you have a negative balance. In that case you can either use your CSR with a negative balance for all new purchases effectively bringing your balance back to $0, or I’m pretty sure you can call Chase and ask to be sent a check? Someone else may want to speak on that though.

Thanks so much! We currently have 187,000 points available and enough purchases to cash that out. That’s after booking a trip for next year (2022) for Portofino withour rewards. We ideally would like to cash out the points with PYB and set aside the money for airfare and park tickets. If we are issued a check for the PYB, will we end up having to pay tax on the money we receive?

If you cash out all of your points leaving a negative balance on your CSR I would think getting a refund from Chase wouldn’t be taxable. I believe it would be treated the same as the refund of a purchase not income earned. If anyone else here knows differently please let me know. I personally wouldn’t expect to be taxed.

If we want to try the mattress run for Globalist, do we have to check in in person or can it be one farther away? No cheap $50 Hyatts here.

Curious why you would consider using the CSP when you have a CSR in the family? If the points are on the CSP, you can just transfer them over.
Haha, before I read your post, I added to my original post that it was easy to add her card to my account and make the transfer to her CSR.
(now I just have to trust her to not spend my points on something frivolous :D )

Stuck on what to do on the card front, so I opened a Citi bank bonus acct instead LOL, I hope this works well. Citi IT is always so great, let's hope I don't have to deal with them.
Tried a local bank too and was denied, but then got an email saying there was an error and to call them. So maybe tomorrow I can get that one too.
Anyone ever done a bank bonus that does a hard pull?

Good luck. I had a tough time with their chat responsiveness when I wanted to close my account. They have all sorts of restrictions on getting money transferred out, both frequency and $ amounts. Saw this today when logging into my credit accounts - Effectively immediately, as a security measure to protect Citibank accounts, the limits for the next day Inter Institutional Transfer service have been lowered to $50 until further notice. You can continue using the standard service to send IITs for amounts greater than $50.

This is very YMMV. Multiple DPs suggest that you have to make an appearance at some point in the stay. You might want to call the property you are looking at and ask them. I'd say something like you are booking and paying for the room "just in case you need it and may or may not be there at some point during the stay" or something along those lines. I'd clear this with the Front Desk Manager or GM, document everything and send the person that you spoke with an e-mail confirming the conversation.

Lol what does that even mean?

On Dec 1 DH had the annual fee post on his last remaining biz card, CIP. I know data points are all over the place, but what do you think would be the best odds for approval moving forward--cancelling the last one and starting from scratch or keeping it open with its nice $14k credit limit and only a few streaming services charging each month? Just finished up other MSR, so we are about ready to apply again anyway. We have a couple rentals but no 'structure', so biz is legit-ish.

I'm not sure it would help you to close, and lose the CL. Downgrade to CIC (which is 5% for cable, internet and phone with no AF) or CIU (1.5% everything) and then apply. The public offer for CIP has changed to 100k points with $15k spend. CIC and CIU also have different offers.

2020 Goals:
- Complete MSR on DH’s CIP
- continue to amass URs
- Continue to amass MRs
- Get Hyatt cards and try for Globalist status (Besides late check-out and maybe a room upgrade, Explorist doesn’t get you much)
- Enjoy our 2020 nearly free travel!
It looks like I have achieved all of these goals plus some. Although travel looked much different than what I have planned.

That's wonderful!!!

She applied Early Action so she'll hear in February. She really wants to go to GA Tech now (probably a long shot) and I think VA Tech is her second choice but maybe UVa is.

Thank you! Good luck to her! Yes, she really wasn't sure when she was going to hear from them but started reading on Reddit about past release dates, apparently. Definitely a relief! She's very excited and I am one proud aunt! Also very relieved, because she had also been accepted to University of Alabama and received a good scholarship offer, but I can't just zip down there on a Saturday for lunch with her. :rotfl:

Congrats to your niece!!! If you are familiar with UVA and the area can I ask you some questions about it? My DD could use some info (graduate degree programs) and not being able to visit places is making it tough to get a feel for some places.

Thank you very much! I see @havaneselover volunteered and I definitely recommend her over me. I'm only very broadly familiar with Charlottesville, and have actually never set foot on UVA's campus since it wasn't on my list for colleges. Don't think you can really go wrong with a degree from UVA though!

Well I have been having fun today. There is something dead in my basement. Our guess at this point is it's in my ducts. The ex came over and spent 2.5 hours in the basement. He found one dead mouse, but doubts it was that one as he said it'd clearly been there for awhile (found it in the ceiling tiles). I thought the smell was garbage on Friday, but today I realized the smell was just as bad, if not worse.

The BF is flying, and I didn't snag his keys before he left. If the smell gets much worse, I'm gonna head to my mom's house. I think it's in the ducts as it's super strong in the basement, but I smell it everywhere. I'm not sure who handles this. So I'm calling my HVAC company tomorrow. I did hop on groupon tonight to snag a duct cleaning for like $50. I can cancel in in 3 days. So once my furnace company tells me what's up, I'll see if the duct cleaners can do this. This might make me finish my spend on the Bonvoy card. Not that I'm looking to do that. UGH.

Nothing like my house smelling like rotting chicken!

Well, I ended up pulling the trigger and getting the 125,000 AmEx Platinum from the mailer DH had received, so we now both have it. I have already used his sax credit, so I'll share how I used both of them in case it will help anyone.

For mine, I got my niece some ugg slippers that she had been wanting. I personally think they are crazy looking, but she wants them, so I get to be the good aunt lol. They were $100 everywhere, so I ordered them from Sax yesterday and got free shipping from shoprunner and 15% back through rakuten, so I'm looking at them as $100 - $50 AmEx credit - $15 cash back =$35 for a great gift (plus $50 toward my spend and points earned).

For DH's card, after I applied today, I got the card number immediately and signed up for the promotion. I went through Rakuten again (12% today) and got DD2 some Ray-Ban sunglasses that she wants. They were $165 :crazy2: - normally, she would never get them from me, but it's Christmas and it's part of her budgeted amount, so I'll go with it. They had a deal today for $50 off $200, so I found some socks that were $35 a pair (again :crazy2:), but I got them to get an extra $15 off of the glasses. So, this purchase was $165 - $15 for the discount greater than the socks - $50 for the Amex credit -$18 cash back (plus a free pair of socks that should be out of this world)! = $82 for the exact glasses that she wants.

The second purchase wasn't as great a deal, because the glasses were a bit cheaper on Ray-ban's website and I know there's a CC offer for spend through Ray-Ban, but the cash back percentage wasn't nearly as high, so it still came out as a savings. Not as high as the slippers, but overall, I"m happy because looking at their prices, everything is crazy high and most of the brands they carry aren't ones my family uses.

I just calculated if I would have purchased through ray-ban they would have been: $154 - 4% Cashback ($6.16) - $30 AmEx offer = $117.84, so basically I saved $35.84 of my $50 credit over and above my other options. I'm pretty pleased with that I guess.
