I think I’d cry if I traveled to see the lights only to figure out I need a special lense. Thanks for reminder. I’ve always wanted to see the Northern Lights and will still have to travel to see them. I’m too far south to see them this time. ☹

if u join a northern light chaser tour, they usually have them on hand. There was only one available when i went. The funny thing was i was taking them on my iPhone and everyone else was like ***, my high end camera cant take them but a simple iPhone can lol.

its worth heading up to Alaska if you get a chance. really fun up there. i would do it again.

i took these by hand, hence why they were blurry. i was just happy being able to capture them on a simple iPhone.

@LilSweetPeaPhoto what grade do you teach? Both of my daughters are teachers and one is a new teacher who just started a month ago. She only has 2 classes in person and the rest are online. She said the same thing - it’s not easy teaching into a screen and not even being able to see her students without cameras on.

I still don't understand this no-video thing. How do they take quizzes and tests? Say a simple spelling test.

It was my understanding that all expiring free night holders are going to receive an email and she said they were still working on the terms. I asked if that meant I was getting an extension and she said yes. When does yours expire? Mine is end of this month.

Also, don't know how long the extension will be.

Good luck with the fridge.

Mine is set to expire 12/31. I guess I hold out hope it's extending. The BF and I would be using it like 12/28 otherwise, LOL

I teach HS, Engineering and Architecture. I start my 23rd year in Jan, only 3 more to go! We've been online since March. My students are BEGGING to go back in person. I not sure which will be worst TBH. It's not going to be fun with all the restrictions and guidelines and teaching 1/2 in person and 1/2 at home. UGH.

The cheating is off the charts. My own daughter went from failing every class almost last year to getting all A's because of all the cheating. Torn as a parent but honestly since she knows what she wants to be (dental hygienist) I know a lot of what she needs to know she'll be learning more so in college. I also teach HS and never give tests and quizzes when it's a normal year. So for me testing isn't an issue.

Basically most everything is open book although sometimes they have to pledge that they didn't get help.
I know one of their tricks is to hand in hand-written assignments. DS dutifully transcribed his writing into the computer (and he doesn't touch-type). But was rejected as she need to see his handwriting (which is atrocious, but that's another topic)

Thanks @SouthFayetteFan for all the SW updates. I did get my flights for a hopeful trip to Glacier NP this summer. Are you guys as tired of hearing this as I am of saying it!?! It has to happen someday. Right now I have three options in my spreadsheet. 1. Glacier + Banff + Jasper (have to open the border for this to work out); 2. Instead of Banff/Jasper if the border is closed, spend more time in Glacier/Whitefish and Idaho (Sandpoint or Coeur d'Alene); 3. If I am still not comfortable flying; Drive to Glacier, adding a stop at TR NP in North Dakota.

Back to my flights. I have never had this before. I booked and when I was reviewing the email confirmation I see no plane change (stop for 1 hour in Denver). I saw the stop when I booked and noted the time as I wanted to make sure it was long enough for a break and get to the new gate (don't have to do the new gate now). Somehow I glossed over the no plane change part when I was booking. I assume and really hope that they let us off the plane, right? I avoid the plane bathroom and will need a break after the 3+ hours from CMH to DEN.

Booked my SW flights for a possible June Disney trip, not too hopeful on this one but have the flights booked in case. Also called to see if there were any incentives to stay with my SW Performance card and the lady said no so asked what I would get back form the AF that posted 11/1 and she said 100% so just canceled it. Totally spaced calling on this one with auto-pay. Never did get to use any of the upgrades ect on the card.

In my humble opinion she’s choosing a FANTASTIC career 😉

My 13 year old DS also has atrocious handwriting. Reading this makes me A) 🤣 and B) feel better about myself as a parent 😉

Alaska is my realistic option to see the lights, Iceland or the Nordic lands would be my aspirational trips. I had heard that an i-phone would be an option, I’m hoping that Santa upgrades me from my 6Plus to at least an 11 pro! :rotfl2:

I hope you get to go. For some reason I tend to remember incredibly random things, and I still remember your great Disney hotel debate from last year, or was that this year? Feels like a lifetime ago. I have no idea why I remember that, when I can’t remember what I need at the grocery store 😂

I’ve been on flights with SW where they just tell people who are traveling on to stay on board long enough for them to count those that are contin on and then you are welcome to get off and take a break. They also tell you about reboarding but honestly I didn’t pay as much attention to those! I hope you make your Glacier/Banff trip. I’ve been wanting to do this trip for years but at this point I may just wait till just DH and I can go. Dragging a moody 15 & 11 year old around while I ooh and awe my be best avoided. :crazy2:

Oh wow! My other DD teaches HS French. They were online from March to the end of the school year. But this Year is in person. But only half the kids come 2 days a week and the other half the other two day. This keeps the number of students in school lower. She has very few remote kids since all of the students are only in school 2 days a week. My other daughters school is in person every day but only half the kids are there and the rest chose to be remote. She just started working and stepped in as a long term sub. It has been a challenge!

The trip was supposed to be this past June then was moved to July when we "thought" this would be over by then. Was just a pain because it was three reservations (One Hyatt at MCO and two Disney where only one I could do anything with on the website). I sure hope it works out, I really need to get away. Work has been incredibly busy that every attempt to take PTO has been interrupted so now I have an excessive amount that I had to get a VP level approval to carryover. So now I have more than I know what to do with for 2021 so I sure hope we can travel!

I kinda dropped off here and following all things Disney with putting in 60+ hour weeks at work. DW who'd banned me from planning trips for a year and a half has been giving me the "Did you hears?!" I am that far behind.

My sons' handwriting was so atrocious I was convinced he would become a doctor. He did end up working in a hospital.

My oldest daughter writes as if it is calligraphy - every letter is perfect and stylized.
