2nd week of June cancel watch thread

Soooooooooo now we know that USO is opening June 5th. I'm like, almost shaking, because I called & moved my June 12-16 trip after getting The Email today. Technically I cancelled it, not Disney. I'm worried that was some sort of strategy on Disney's part, to get people to cancel until they got below capacity. Tell me I'm crazy, please? I'll be bummed if they open the 14th but far less sad than if they open on the 5th as well.

I think you’re 100% safe. Disney isn’t going to open during the dates they already cancelled. They’re not going to rush into this. They’re going to let UO open first and work out the kinks. Disney has much bigger transportation, resort, and DVC implications with their reopening plan.

They're likely already below capacity.

I'll be pretty annoyed if they do open the resorts or theme parks before June 12th (the date they cancelled me). It would have been nice for disney to have some sort of transparency in this process (i.e. if they had to reduce headcount, just say it and ask me to move my date). Instead we were told to rebook at a later date....well at the later dates, there are no specials on rooms and we can't get the free dining package.

It's all about the money - they are realizing if they can only be at 30% capacity for a few months, that they want full price tickets/hotel reservations, no free dining, etc.

2 cancellations so far for this reservation....maybe 3rd time is a charm?

My DVC resi for 6/10-6/17 still up but all my dining through 6/13 canceled.

Interesting, my dining is also only canceled for 6/12 and 6/13 (check-in 6/12). Maybe that's as far as they've gone with cancellations on the calendar? I've been obsessively looking all day... not sure what I'm hoping for... postponing the inevitable disappointment.

I got the "impacted" e-mail and they've cancelled my Jiko reservation on the 13th, but my room-only AKL 12-17th is still showing in MDE, just a matter of time. I think a couple more restaurant reservations are gone too, but I didn't look too critically at it, will make me sad.

I guess I need to plan for universal now, never been, should be fun.

We just booked a few nights at Universal in October - the rates were good (I had a AP leftover from going there for a convention in Feb. that has been burning a hole in my pocket). We love Disney, but you know what - Universal WAS pretty darn fun, in a different more compact kinda way! You'll have fun!

Yeah, the FP and ADRs only get canceled for the days closed on the park calendar, it doesn't go by your resort reservation days.

When they sent me the email about my May trip cancellation they didn’t cancel my FP right away. I went in and cancelled the room and FP about a week before arrival because I had a specific timeframe I wanted the refund to hit my credit card. I don’t know when the FP would have been cancelled if I hadn’t done it myself. I will go in and do the room and FP cancel for June next week, so the refund of my one night deposit hits during next month’s billing cycle. At least I had crappy FP for the June trip, so they won’t hurt as much as the May ones did.

sorry to everyone that has had trips cancelled

Cabana Bay is so great and then you have direct access to volcano bay

Thanks yulilin, Cabana isn’t one we’ve tried yet so I’ll look into it. We did Hard Rock a few times and Sapphire Falls last summer. Between the two of them we actually liked Sapphire Falls better (believe it or not) but we didn’t do parks once that trip so express pass wasn’t needed. We were so totally exhausted with real life stuff that just needed a break so sat at the pool an entire week and did one night after hours at Animal Kingdom (best money spent in Disney by the way).

My kids are Disney exhausted so they really go for me. Truthfully, I think it’s my fault for bringing them so often for so many years.

We went thru this for the last few weeks. There is no declared date/time by Disney.

The cancellations don't come out all at once either. They probably have some formula like APs first, or dining plan clients etc etc They also don't come out at an exact time every day. I see the same situation next week lol. I got my cancellation a Friday still had a long wait otp so couldn't have been alone. Theory's based on not getting a cancellation email are not valid and just confuse alot of people. Disney doesn't have any plans approved or submitted so they have no set opening date lol. If you really are stressed I'd rebook for September. August is is hot and masks most likely will be required still

I received the "impacted" email today for my 6/12-6/15 trip staying at CBR, but I had cancelled it myself last night anyway. All of my ADRs have also been cancelled. I saw the writing on the wall.
