READ POST 1 & 2 FIRST-Rise of the Resistance Boarding Group Planning and Information-*No Spoilers*

It’s interesting how people have different experiences. I was able to click through the whole process getting regular boarding groups about 5 times through one minute. At the one minute mark I clicked back, and everything was gone. No backup groups.

Noticed today that the button on the My Status page never became active (but the main page's button did turn red). I even tried pressing it anyway and got a "no boarding groups available" message. Then toggled back to home, where the button stayed red through several more tries.

I wish there was some consistency in how it worked!

So what is the solution here? This is not sustainable. Literally all gone in a minute?! Do people leave HS if they aren't successful? I'm sure there are lots of people who don't have park hoppers so it's not like they can just hang out at Epcot if they don't get a BG. Based on the wait times I'm seeing this past weekend, my guess is most people just stay and get into other ride lines. I'm just imagining the crowds being oppressively bad in April.... Ugh......

First practice run from home - I was on the My Staus already, refreshing using the pull down, at 7:59 a.m. I got Join Boarding group with 3-4 seconds after that. Is the better approach hitting Find Out More at the dot, then if it is still greyed out, go to My Status, which serves up with a refresh, then start refreshing within the same My Status screen? Thank you all in advance!

This happened to me a couple of days ago. Never saw the Status as "Backup" before they were all gone.

This! They have got to do better with this. I don't know exactly what the solution is but the current system is awful.

That was the same experience I had from home.

My friend is there today. I tried to help from home - but by the time I picked from the list of friends, it said they already had a BG ... my screen had been in regular groups ... bt they got back up 81. Does that seem odd?

first time practicing from home today since my trip is coming up in less than 2 weeks.
one thing i noticed is the first time you click through, an extra pop-up comes up that tells you more about the boarding group that you have to click OK after you click join and before you select your party. that adds extra latency first time you go through this, so im glad i did this practice run and would suggest everyone to do so. After that, i did get through about 6-7 times.
but every second counts!

My nephew's hockey team is in FL this week for a tournament and one of the families was heading to DHS today. They are not Disney people so they had no idea how crazy this was going to be. I gave my sister some pointers on how to get a BG to pass along to the family and I just heard that they got BG 23 today. They are so impressed with my Disney knowledge. Lol!

This is the only system available for the current condition on the ride. That's it. There is honestly nothing else they can do until the ride becomes more reliable and they can switch to the more traditional standby queue
I think that the amount of people ONLY going for RotR is small, the park arguably has the best thrill rides on property, along with stage shows so most will be disappointed or even upset but they go about their DHS day
The demand is huge and the ride is just not performing at peak level. Disney doesn't want angry guests and they are doing everything they can to try and find the kinks.
The guest has to also take some accountability. A WDW is not a vacation to go into without some preparation. If you research and see how the system is working, you and your group decides if you want to attempt it or not, none of the Disney offerings are guaranteed to perform on the day you visit, they tell you that, you, as a guest, must come into the parks with realistic expectations. If this system looks bonkers and not worth it, then plan on that

The only time I’ve ever gotten a pop up was after it switched to backup groups, telling me that was what I would get and describing what a backup boarding group meant. I’ve never gotten a pop up right at 8:00.

It's possible that, by the time the BG was assigned from your attempt, you may have also been at a backup number. With things going from regular to backups to gone in mere seconds, undoubtedly there are folks that think they'll get one category and find themselves in the next within that lapsed time.

Yeah it happened only the first time, right at 8, so i don't think it's the backup one. that said, i did not read carefully.
I will try with my backup phone tomorrow to see if I get the same.

I get that. In the confines of the Dis Bubble, sure seems like this is just a maddening proposition. But maybe most people are sort of "eh, if we get it, great - if not, there's plenty of other things to do." I know Disney isn't doing this deliberately. But one would think, after 2+ months of operations, plus now running it on the other coast, there are sufficient data points to try to figure out why the ride is breaking down so much and how they could adjust things so that more people can ride. It's crazy to me that it's harder now to get a boarding pass than right after it first opened. Yes, fewer operating hours - but that goes back to my point about increasing reliability. Also, I wonder if people really did plan their trips to a "slower period of time" (LOL) or after the land had been opened for a while and now there's just a giant influx of pent up demand? It's quite astonishing how crowded the parks were this weekend.

Disney LOVES this. Park full of hungry people at rope drop who stay all day? They’ll never change it.

Couldn't disagree more. There's no way they "love" this. I can only imagine the lines at Guest Relations day in and day out as they deal with unhappy guests. Yes, the few thousand who do get a boarding group and get to ride are mostly happy (although even they can end up being frustrated when they get in line multiple times and the ride keeps going down), but there are so many more people at DHS each day who only get to experience the crazy crowds and never-ending lines for everything (food, attractions, meet and greets, shows, etc...). This is not a pleasant experience for pretty much anyone, but most especially it's not pleasant for the CMs who work there.

Hoppers are almost a must have if you're going to make multiple tries to ride. We have AP's but I'd do it now for sure if I were buying tickets. I think that's why the crowds are so awful these days at HS. I wish there was a solution, just don't know what it is except time.

Don't you think if there was a solution they wouldn't done it already? Every day, every hour CMs are breaking down backstage because they are getting yelled at every minute, managers have to come out and basically become therapists on the job, entitled people expecting things that cannot be provided roaming around screaming, entiicing others to revolt (I know it sounds dramatic but I have seen people do this at the park)

As to the crowds, again it goes into planning. WDW trip requires planning. People expecting lower crowds have not researched properly, frequent visitors such as myself and many on these boards and others have said there's no low crowd time anymore, we have said the crowd calendars are not as accurate as they used to be. Many people started visiting the parks in the early 2000, remember 9/11? that killed the crowds for a good 7 years, people came and the parks were empty and everyone thought that was normal, Disney has worked very hard to bring the crowds back with year of a million dreams, free dining and other incentives. It is your hard earned cash, YOU have to decide and plan and have realistic expectations.
A couple of years ago people were complaining about how DHS was a half day park and now that the crowds are back people complain about how they need 2 days. Decide for yourself if it's worth it or not.
