I have very rarely had a wait at Poly for anything. Our last trip was one night at POR and it was just awful all the way around. From long waits to mis-information, the cold didn't help my mood though.

Me: "How can I to get to POFQ?"
Each person I asked (at least 2): "Just go to the bus stop and get on any bus."
I thought we could walk or one of the buses went over there, but I needed direction and confirmation. Oh well, who needs a beignet anyway. Lunch at Satu'li Canteen it was and I treated myself with an alcoholic drink.
Oh.My.Goodness. Same exact experience at POR trying to take a bus over to FQ. Ten different answers from 10 different CMs including a bus driver! It was pouring rain so trying to stay dry.
This was our first time having to wait so long at the Poly. There just weren’t many CMs working. IIRC, only 2 for a decent line and again, the entitled fam cut me. So I was super ticked after that.

I tried that on my recent trip (later in the evening after all the parks had closed and such) but they only had 2 people working the desk and I stood there for 30 minutes. I was sooooo frustrated since what I wanted to do should have only taken like 3 minuets. One woman in front of me was trying to coordinate picking up some packages and the other guy was checking in and had a million questions about RotR BGs... and the cast member was giving them so much wrong information. I just bit my tongue because I was ready to flip out, lol!

This is the second straight trip where I had that experience (it seems they are really cutting down on staffing at the desks) so I'm all in on paying as I go now, lol! I'm glad your experience has been different though :D I miss the days when there were a bunch of CMs at the desk waiting to greet you at all times of day!

EDIT: I wonder if there's a difference here at the convention resorts (since my experiences are at YC and CR) where more "business type" people are checking in later in the evenings and aren't skipping the desk vs. other resorts where there's more people doing online check-in. Food for thought...
Have you ever tried calling the front desk and paying with the card over the phone?

So we booked that room at POR with a CIP because we don’t currently have a lot of gcs. Are we able to call before and have them switch the payment method to a gc? I wasn’t sure how if this works or not since we paid the amount already

Have you ever tried calling the front desk and paying with the card over the phone?
I haven't but honestly, I've not found calling the front desk that helpful since you aren't really calling the front desk. More often than not, I just get told to walk over to the front desk...

Now that I've gotten used to just using a GC in the park, it's not a big deal at all to me. I get the receipt with my current amount that is left and I actually like that. It works well for us also because my kids each have their own GC with their spending money. No more trying to keep up with who has spent what. I just use their GC for their purchases and I keep the latest receipt so we always know what they have left.

OK fellow frequent travellers- I need support, not related to credit cards.

really looking forward to this trip, but I’m also starting to get really freaked out by this whole virus thing and second guessing going to Disney with its large crowds and many international visitors. I spent the week leading up to our prior trip freaking out about this flu, and I know I do deal with irrational anxiety that I’ve improved at managing but still gets to me sometimes.

who wants to reassure me? Would you take your family to wdw in 2 weeks knowing you had a 2 year old with asthma, 2 parents in their 70s and a pregnant sister? Ugh. I’ve been good until now, but it’s starting to get to me.

to make this cc related- halfway done with my cip msr.
Try not to worry. My dd19, who has a pretty compromised immune system illness is down at Disney working and while I am a bit concerned, I think everything is okay at this point. I think all will still be well in 2 weeks. In a few months, IDK, I may be panicking a little and considering asking her to quit the program and head home. But for now, I'm just not panicking and I don't think anyone needs to. As others have pointed out, the flu is a much bigger concern for us here in the states.

Air Italy has suspended operations and is liquidating. Hope no one is affected. I just started looking at their nonstop SFO-Milan for next summer. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

According to the CDC, as of January 31 st during 2019/2020 the flu has killed over 10,000 people in the USA only and hospitalized 180,000. That is just in the USA alone. Estimates are that the death toll will wind up between 10,000 and 25,000 just in the USA.

Meanwhile, Coronavirus has caused about 1100 deaths world wide. Only 13 US citizens have been diagnosed with Cornoavirus. 1 US citizen has died of it and they were hospitalized in Wuhan at the time. Both the CDC and WHO state that seasonal flu is more of a threat than Coronavirus.

February is a peak month for flu season and unfortunately everyone you described is at high risk when it comes to the flu. Have they all had their flu vaccine? I'd be more concerned about the flu than coronavirus. Writing his makes me think I should get a flu shot myself. I'm going to WDW again this weekend and I have asthma. I'm bringing my mom in a few weeks and she is over 70.

If planning the trip during peak flu season with a family that are at high risk when it comes to flu didn't cause you irrational anxiety, then neither should coronavirus. Just use the same precautions as preventing flu. After touching public surfaces, do not touch your face, wash hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds.

thanks everyone for the reassurance. Logically I know all the things you say are true. It’s the irrational part of my brain that sometimes wins.

I need to stop reading the news. Even real news places tend to have click baity headlines that freak me out.

I do worry about the flu. That was my big worry on our January trip. We have all gotten flu shots, wash hands (except 2 year olds touch everything lol. I caught her licking a rail in a queue on our last trip). But flu seems like more of a known entity and I guess we all tend to be more scared of the unknown.

as of know we are going. If this suddenly gets worse, we can always cancel. Always love flights booked on southwest points.

I’m much better at being logical in the morning than at night when I’m tired.

I totally get irrational fears. I have an irrational fear of sharks. I’ve purposely sought to learn about them to conquer my fear. It hasn’t helped. Logic doesn’t always help with those types of things. Once in a blue moon, I can conquer the fear for a few moments and go into the ocean. But most of the time it’s a hard nope. Whatever decision you make, I wish you a great trip whether it’s sooner or a bit later.

Thanks for reminding me. I saw it earlier and forgot to register. We actually have a stay on Feb 16 so getting that first stay in is good timing. But no other plans right now. 😢 😢 Will maybe have to push DH into some work trips. haha I don't like to pay for the hotels, lol, so work trips would be better to rack up the points. Though I am actually paying for the stay this weekend at a Hyatt PLACE. I have about 5 Hyatt HOUSE offers on my cards but no Place!! They must know!
And it is not even anything good, stupid Ann Arbor in February, I want warm not Michigan. (haha I say this because I know all the UM love here. lol)

Hey now, you're about to come in just after a storm even. My students are hoping today for a snow day tomorrow, LOL. I'm guessing it's for hockey? We were supposed to stay local for a tournament but it had low numbers....so now I'm heading to Cleveland on Friday....yay! And it's not even my weekend to have the kids AND it's my mid-winter break I'm sacrificing for this. But the ex did the tournament in Buffalo in Nov...so I get to do this one. Where are you playing out of? I will say A2 does have some good food at least ;)

No hockey for us. We are going up for admitted student day at UM. The session is all day Monday and since he had school off anyway it seemed a good day to do it. I will take any recommendations for food though. We will arrive Sunday afternoon so just staying Sunday night.

I shared that offer here on Friday actually - before any of the blogs had even picked it up 🤣

My decision here is quite thought out though. ~$2,400 worth of points at a 23%+ return on spend far surpasses ~$1,900 worth of points at a 7% return for me. :D I would really struggle to devote $25k spend towards one MSR - that’s a lot of other offers I’d be passing up.

I’m sure the new Performance offer is right for some as we discussed last week, it’s just not the right offer for me!

Apologies if this has been asked and answered and I missed it. I saw on a miles and points blog today that Chase is matching this offer for some people who already have this card. People have reported getting a matched offer when they had gotten the card as far back as November 2019. I got my card on October 14, 2019, so I figure it doesn’t hurt to ask if Chase will match the offer. What’s the best way to go about this?

I’ve had $10k spend since I got approved on 10/14/19. Should I send a secure message to Chase to see if they’d give me the bigger bonus if I hit another $15k within 6 months of card opening? I won’t be working towards another SUB until April, so I figure I might as well work toward something!

@Alexle2007 talked about this here. I think you just need to SM and ask.

DH opened this card in December...”he” SMd Chase last week...we received a reply that they would match the offer if we hit the $25k spend in 6 months.
They said to reply to this message once we did and they would add the 30k RR points

I have very fond memories of taking my DW to admitted students day at UM. Ours was in March 2 years ago. She's a sophomore now.

Well, fond memories except for a tire blowing out on I-94 on the way from DTW to Ann Arbor late night on the way in, waiting for road service to come fix it with vehicles zooming by, and getting to the hotel about 90 minutes later than expected. But the school visit part was great, and well done. They fed us lunch, if that helps.

Not DW. DD. DW stayed home with our other DD. Yeesh.

Of course he is named after my mile chasing “second job”.

In reality though our first son was named Parker so we did Miles to have 2 Spider-Man’s in the house.
Congrats on the new addition and love the names reference!

I always check a bag because I am the world's worst over-packer.

This trip I've really gone overboard. I've packed enough to winter here in the South.
I will have to pare down for next trip as it is inconvenient having too much stuff.

Has anyone signed up for the new Hyatt promotion? I'm pretty excited about it since something>nothing and I have about 4 stays booked during this promotion period (15 Feb-15 May).

Me! I was very happy to see that email yesterday since I exist right now on promotions until I can find myself an MSR mid summer. And a few extra thousand Hyatt points are my dream promo. I got 10K on the one I did in December.

Wow. With the last increase I could not make it work I don't even want to look now. I know it will never hurt their bottom line but the increases last time turned this year into a single trip year from what I was thinking would have been 2~3 with an AP.

I haven't looked yet to see the DVC price, but I'm fine since I have a stash. But not fine when I start looking at helping with tickets for all my girls.

UM 💛💙 lol. Ann Arbor is not as exotic as most of the destinations talked about here but it's not so bad! Cute town. Lots of great food.
