OK fellow frequent travellers- I need support, not related to credit cards.

really looking forward to this trip, but I’m also starting to get really freaked out by this whole virus thing and second guessing going to Disney with its large crowds and many international visitors. I spent the week leading up to our prior trip freaking out about this flu, and I know I do deal with irrational anxiety that I’ve improved at managing but still gets to me sometimes.

who wants to reassure me? Would you take your family to wdw in 2 weeks knowing you had a 2 year old with asthma, 2 parents in their 70s and a pregnant sister? Ugh. I’ve been good until now, but it’s starting to get to me.

to make this cc related- halfway done with my cip msr.

Wow - that’s a tough situation. I can point out a lot of reasons why I’d be ok with it but I also don’t want to dismiss what might be valid concerns for you to not go. If you know the answer is to go and you really want us to pump you up for that - I can certainly do that!!

We are going in two weeks with a 2 year old and 6 month old. My dad is a very highly esteemed infectious disease doc and he said its fine, so its fine haha But seriously- wash your hands, sanitize surfaces at eateries, bring alcohol based hand sany for those times you can’t wash, and if doing buffets I’d have one person load plates and wash their hands before eating because not everyone handling the buffet line items are washing. Coronavirus is much less of a concern here than flu right now so if you’d go during flu season there is no reason to alter your plans now.

Nice! New single card offer would have saved you some phone time: https://viewfromthewing.com/wow-new...st-companion-pass-and-125000-points-to-spend/
I shared that offer here on Friday actually - before any of the blogs had even picked it up 🤣

My decision here is quite thought out though. ~$2,400 worth of points at a 23%+ return on spend far surpasses ~$1,900 worth of points at a 7% return for me. :D I would really struggle to devote $25k spend towards one MSR - that’s a lot of other offers I’d be passing up.

I’m sure the new Performance offer is right for some as we discussed last week, it’s just not the right offer for me!

I’m going in about two weeks and I’ll be 32 weeks pregnant. If it shows up in Florida I’ll be more worried but at this point I’m not going to stress about it

80% of the people that get the virus have mild or no symptoms. There's only been a handful of the people in the US out of how many millions??? I know a thousand deaths seems like a lot, but what's the population in China? A billion? Thousands of people with underlying health conditions die of the flu every year. Would I take my family to WDW. Yes and double Yes.

I just got off a cruise on Sunday. Considering whats going on cruise ships lately I might be a little nervous about taking a cruise in the near future. I'm not concerned about getting the virus, but the thought of being imprisoned on a ship is pretty anxiety-inducing.

I would have no qualms about visiting WDW. I hope you go and have a great time. I think the whole thing is way over-hyped. I just was watching some of the Netflix series Pandemic that came out in January where they are really promoting a Universal flu Vaccine. Coincidence maybe, maybe not.

Question for @calypso726 or anyone else with two Aspires. If one Aspire is in your name and one Aspire is in P2's name, does P2 have to call Hilton to apply his/her free night certificate or will I be able to call and have Hilton apply DH's FN certificate (since he is like many other P2s on this thread; he's more than willing to have me open cards for him and he tries his best to use the *correct* card when making purchasers, but he is 100% not the travel planner and hates having to call)? Assuming we want to use both our our FN certificates for the same stay, what is the protocol for linking the reservations together?
I'm behind and I saw calypso's reply, but I don't know if anyone else has replied. I've booked multiple nights in my dh's name and they've never asked to speak to him. I also always call the hotel ahead of time to link the reservations.

I’ll be down there next week with DD. I’m thinking we definitely won’t be playing with the Winnie the Pooh wall:crazy2:. I definitely agree that good hand washing will be important. I’m a little more concerned about our April trip.

Oh man - I can’t believe that wall still exists after all of this time. It has to be a cesspool with kids germs!!

Builds immunity lol
Well then I can tell you a few kids I saw a couple weeks ago have A LOT of immunity! I saw a kid licking it 🤣 another kid wiping it with his face because...why not?? And oh the coughing and sniffling!! So much of that! Luckily we always use FP lane in Pooh so we don’t have to be too near the cesspool.

That wall is like my worst nightmare. Even my boys, who are constantly told it to touch stuff, practically lick that wall 😂 It’s like a kid magnet.

Just tell your kid they have to swipe the screen with a magic wipe (Clorox wipe) 😂.

Traveling during flu season is always a risk, as is mosquito season and hurricane season and countless others. Over 12,000 people have died of the flu this year in the US, with over 20 million infected so far. Last year over 40,000 flu deaths in the US. Only 400 people outside of mainland China have been infected with the Corona virus 1/3 of which are on the quarantined cruise ship. Yes, it is a serious concern for scientists and researchers worldwide, but literally 2 people have died outside mainland China.

Yes, the nCoV is new and scary, but please do not let fear of the unknown override reality. Wash hands, avoid people exhibiting flu symptoms, live life the same way you would any other flu season.

Does your dad recommend getting a flu shot this late in the season? I usually, but not always, get one, but when I do it's typically much earlier in the year.

Churning related- my water heater died... right after I dropped a ridiculous amount of money on BSB tickets... so yay MSR... right??

On our aug trip, every time I went by the front desk at POR, it took 30 mins. Same at poly in Dec. Didn’t help that done entitled family decided to cut me 😣 Then just stayed at ASMo. Had to go by front desk 3 times. Every time was a long wait. There were a decent amount of CMs working but it seemed like everyone had problems.
I have very rarely had a wait at Poly for anything. Our last trip was one night at POR and it was just awful all the way around. From long waits to mis-information, the cold didn't help my mood though.

Me: "How can I to get to POFQ?"
Each person I asked (at least 2): "Just go to the bus stop and get on any bus."
I thought we could walk or one of the buses went over there, but I needed direction and confirmation. Oh well, who needs a beignet anyway. Lunch at Satu'li Canteen it was and I treated myself with an alcoholic drink.
