What do you mean shuttles? If the parks are open earlier, then the transportation from the resorts start earlier.
The shuttles don't start early enough to join in the HS craziness.

Tomorrow the resort buses are scheduled to start 5:15a for the EMH at HS.The shuttles don't start early enough to join in the HS craziness.
Yeah, they are opening at 6AM for EMH Sunday. Supposedly the boarding groups won't open until regular park opening which might be a disaster due to their server capabilities. Right now Sunday is the best day to go with shuttle support unless they change the time they start the boarding groups.Tomorrow the resort buses are scheduled to start 5:15a for the EMH at HS.

I don't know how the CM stands work with mulitple people but doing it via the app is probably the fastest method. Can someone clear up the steps to be assigned to a BG? It appears the first step is getting thru the turnstile so your park pass is scanned, correct? THEN you have the option of either a) going immediately into your MDE app and being assigned to a group OR b) finding one of the CM stands and waiting in line there to be assigned a group, is that correct? If everyone from your family has entered the studios do they ALL need to wait in line to be assigned a group or can one person take all of the magic bands?
I hope they have a good plan because they are going to have a ton of people refreshing the MDE app every second trying to get a boarding group starting at like 7:55AM lolThanks krayzie. I think the MDE app is where “equal access” and “fair” come into play for people who are so worried about someone else being “given” an “advantage”. Everyone, abled or not, can and has the choice to use the MDE app. But it does bring into play the “what if the servers are bonkers because of heavy volume” scenarios.
While I agree that those who can’t handle opening crowds (I am one of them) are at a disadvantage, being able to have special access wouldn’t be an advantage to me. That entire area is going to be super crowded and anyone who needs to avoid the crowds needs to avoid the entire area until things settle down. I wouldn’t even attempt going there. I think Disney goes above what is required by ADA to assist those of us with disabilities. I often wonder how all these people especially those with sensory issues are able to ride all the rides and be in the parks all day long. Just entering Disney on a normal day is sensory overload. Believe it or not, it is often this way for people without disabilities. Disney can be exhausting for anyone not just those of us with disabilities.
As far as mobility/standing issues there is a solution for that - you can always utilize a wheelchair.
Honestly the current system is really not very friendly to those with disabilities. with the boarding group system you have to get into the park super early and wait in some crazy lines just to get in a boarding group. Making people who can’t wait in lines wait in line to get a boarding group is a problem. Everyone with a disability should be emailing disney about it being an issue.
The line to get into the park is the problem. you need to scan in to get a boarding group. i can’t imagine a family with a child with autism getting there at 5am and waiting in that mess to get into the park. If you wait for the opening crowds to thin out you end up with a time in the later afternoon or evening which means you need to spend 8 or 9 hours in the park or leave the park which could be an issue for a lot of families as well. with the way the crowds are and now this system is it makes it impossible for some families to have a chance at experiencing the attraction.
According to the survey people they are considering keeping this for a while. This isn’t my problem personally i got into a boarding group on opening day and went on the attraction. I also saw a young boy in a wheelchair having a melt down yesterday because he wasn’t able to ride it. I don’t see how that family would have an equal chance at getting into a boarding group how are they supposed to manage that crowd in the morning to get into the park before opening? i don’t see that as fair and equitable.
What do you miss if you use DAS ?? Should I try to go a second time after escorting my father with a DIS return??
Navigating crowds is one thing and can be managed and you have alternatives to deal with it. This is a first come first served situation it’s no different than a line that many families can’t wait in. No one is saying that anyone with a disability should get automatic access to the attraction but this system is not friendly to those with disabilities at all. Everyone who goes through the turnstile can get a boarding group those who can not stand for long periods of time or handle the opening crowds are at a significant disadvantage at getting through that turnstile.
Actually reports in the other threads have been saying the land crowds haven’t been any worse then normal from what I’ve seen.
A couple of other things. I can’t speak for others but for myself:
1. How much I can handle varies wildly from day to day. What I might be okay with one day I might not the next.
2. While I have a standing problem it isn’t a sensory problem. Not everyone who has DAS has that. My biggest DAS issue is limiting exposure to migraine triggers.
3. Rollator or an ECV still the better option. Not everyone comes to Disney with company. And I sure the heck can’t push a chair and I know I’m not the only option.
Honestly I wonder if some of this could be solved by a handicapped only line. But then you would have to worry about people who don’t need it using it...
Or maybe have an option that ties the DAS into the boarding system so with a DAS party not everyone needs to be present in the park just someone needs to be there to grab the boarding pass for the party.
Yes! Our trip isn’t until mid January, but I’m so concerned on how to handle this with my son. It takes time to medically care for him before we walk out the door. Getting to the park at 5am is probably not possible for us. I wish they would allow one member of the party get a BG for the disabled. That way he could could sleep a little longer and I could do the waiting for him.Navigating crowds is one thing and can be managed and you have alternatives to deal with it. A follow up question... can I go early and get a DAS pass for my mom? I know she can’t get there early but would like her to experience the ride. Thank you for the guidance and understanding.
I think it would be nice to have a hybrid like how DAS works -- anyone in the party for DAS can get a return time for the DAS rider. Same can be extended to BG assignment. You get the 'runner' in the group to fend the masses in the morning to get a BG #. then once a BG# is secured, a DAS can be applied to that rider. That then allows the DAS rider ride without needing to brave a 5am wakeup.
I would limit the party to 4 given the simple size of newness of the ride. -- and this comes from a planned party of 9 going to WDW this holiday!
In reality i believe this should be true of all BG# assignments. No real reason to draw little ones out of bed and skip breakfast only to have them 'present' at 7AM to scan in and get a later BG# in the evening. But still have to have a little of size too to allow for this -- simple coding work to allow for this, imho.
True - but you get 2 HOURS to get there even if immediately called. That's fair, IMHOThe trouble with that is that they hand out the boarding passes as you come in. So if you are one of the first couple of groupings, you could end up having a boarding pass time immediately or very shortly after. If your family is not even in the parks yet, then you miss out and another family that could have been there has missed out. If you end up getting one for later in the day, you all can go back and take a nap or rest and come back. No one wants to get up that early.

Edit: From the reports we know disney can track prior admissions and multiple BGs on MDE so it shouldn't be so hard to do this:
1. 1 person must line up.
2. Limit 4 per BG reservation
3. No duplicates in BG
4. Limit 1 ride per day per MB/Ticket
5. Each BG reservation gets 2 hours to return to turret to start ridde.
6. DAS allows scan to get into into FP line to bypass any backup currently present in the line.
