And ARRRGGGGGHHHHH,,,,,not seeing my Chase card in the mail today. I am seeing something from Amex which is covering another envelop with a window, but I can't see what it is. Do cards come in window envelops?? This time I hope it is it. I have 2k of bills (insurance, utilities in advance etc) with this card that I want get out of the way. Mail won't be here until past 4pm.

Oh, you don't get each item listed separately? Mine shows Netflix, then another Netflix, then etc and it's like a table with picture listing each piece. There is never any overlap.

Yes, Chase cards come in window envelopes

Normally I do, but occasionally something overlaps another piece of mail. I've seen this several times. I would copy it to show you what I mean but I don't want to have to do all the steps to hide my personal info.

I just applied for CIP2 and didn't get approved immediately, which is rare for me with Chase. This would be my 4th biz card with them - I have CIP, CIC, CIU. I haven't applied for any Chase cards since 3/29, so I'm hoping this gets approved!

That
Chase URs are pretty versatile...they can be cashed out or used as a statement credit...if you don’t find value booking hotels, flights etc through the Chase travel portal or transferring them to hotel or airline partners

Was your DHs SW card opened this May and you have closed it already ?
If so it’s recommended to wait a year before closing a card

He actually got mad at them over a disputed transaction. Long story short, he had a buyer on eBay screw him over and Chase doesn't allow customers to dispute any eBay charges. He may not want another Chase card in his name.

I assume the value for cash redemptions is less than using UR for something else?

The overlap has happened to me before too. Very annoying...

Totally off-topic comment... Today began National Suicide Prevention week in the US.

Unfortunately that day for me was marked by heading to a local funeral home to attend the visitation for a former HS classmate. I am not close enough with this person or family to truly know the details, but all of the indicators of this "unexpected passing" are suicide. It's sobering, unsettling, even disturbing to think that a father of 2 who married his HS sweetheart found himself in such a situation that this was "the only way out". I think of 2 elementary aged boys who will grow up without a father, I think of a wife who has to deal with a gamut of emotions that I can't begin to even fathom, I think of a mother who has to bury her son. All I can do is pray for this family who now has to find a way to put one foot in front of the other and somehow move on with their lives now.

It feels odd to me to be somewhat shaken by this event given that you'd almost describe this person as an acquaintance at this point. It seriously has shook me - How this happens is just incomprehensible to me. If anybody here is struggling with thoughts like this - reach out to somebody. Find help - call the suicide prevention lifeline 1-800-273-8255 or if you aren't sure who to talk to PM me right here on the DIS. No family should have to go through an unthinkable tragedy like this.

This is such an important topic and I really appreciate you sharing with our group. We were lucky that we discovered my son’s intentional overdose in time to life flight him to the hospital and save his life. I remind myself often that finding suicide incomprehensible is something that most of us are lucky to get to feel and that mental illness is unfortunately something that not everyone gets to survive just like any other Illness. But there are many ways to get help and through treatment my son is doing much better! Thanks for sharing the suicide prevention lifeline number (1-800-273-8255) and I also want to offer my help through PM here on the Dis to anyone who might need someone to talk to. There is definitely hope and help!

Ugh what a pain...had he gone through PayPal for the claim first ...but the good news is you have a business....
The cash redemptions are 1-1....if you book travel through the Chase trvel portal and have a CSR...the points are worth 1.5.....if you have a CIP or CSP it’s 1.25

Thank you for sharing! That's one thing that will help with mental health.

Also, suicide isn't because of one thing even if that's how it seems to the outside world. It's also easy for any of us to get down and all up in your head but a lot of us are able to understand that and talk with someone or do something about it. Those of us that don't understand suicide probably never will because of how our brains are wired.

It's also important to remember if you have a friend or family member thats you communicate with somewhat regularily to reach out to them if you haven't heard from them. We never know what someone else is going throuvh but slowing/stopping communication while it can mean they're busy can also be other stuff and they may need someone to talk with.

Thanks for reinforcing one of the things I did for our Oz/NZ trip! Our cruise is out of Sydney so "mom" applied for a CSP, paid $4000 of the cruise fare, earning 68K URs and transferred 60K URs to Hyatt. Hyatt allows member to member transfers with a form (quick 1 day turnaround) so bam! 2 nights at the PH Sydney, which is one of Hyatt's aspirational properties. The cheapest nights for our stay are retailing over $1000/night so this was a great redemption, at least for me.

@mmmears has inspired me to visit The Starry Night in NYC (I'm a Van Gough fan) so at some point I'll be looking at doing something similarly for PH-NYC. "Mom" was just approved for a CIC so I have a sneaking suspicion I know where "her" points are headed.
PH Sydney is AMAZING! You will love it. It's a great redemption as I don't think you can get a room under $1,000.00 / night. We stayed on points and got upgraded to an Opera view room. Location is also fantastic. It was so nice coming back to the room each night after turn down service to the Opera House all lit up across the harbor. One of my goals is to book the hotel for a NYE stay (maybe 2020) :cloud9::cloud9:.

We disputed with eBay, appealed their decision, disputed with Paypal, and then his credit card. By the time it was all said and done, he closed his eBay, PayPal, and Chase accounts. eBay's seller protection is a joke.

Thank you! I will look into my options with Chase.

DH wants to go back to Australia for Christmas 2020 while DS has his break. So now I need to plan it out. I am hoping to make it 2-3 weeks there since DS has off for 2 1/2 weeks he would only need to miss a few extra days.

I looked for the Barclay Arrival + link tonight. I had planned to have my husband get this card to help pay for our Disney park tickets for our next trip. Apparently, they are no longer taking applications for this card. I already have it and we both already have Capital One Venture cards. Are there any other options out there?
There's not too many others with the same kind of sign up bonus value outside of Chase. Mostly you'll be finding $200-300 bonuses, it was a sad day when they pulled that application.

If you haven't looked through already, DoC has been keeping a list of good sign ups to read through - https://www.doctorofcredit.com/best-current-credit-card-sign-bonuses

Could spark another idea. But with lower value bonuses, you'll need more cards to make the same amount which could change future sign up plans. Depending on how much you still need to cover, have you looked into bank bonuses for some cash too? Things like the Wells Fargo CC offer DoC mentioned that can only be applied in branch would be a good time to double up with a new account opening bonus. Between the two that could generate $600-800 dollars towards tickets ( depending on the current WF offers out)

May have to take some time to generate a new strategy since I'm not sure there's a single card that would be as easy to substitute. Unless you took a Chase offer and cashed out the points - but from other replies I gathered maybe Chase isn't a good fit if you want this card for DH. (Sorry if I missed anything, I'm mostly skimming the last few days)
