I love credit cards so much! v2.0 (see first page for add'l details)

Just finished engaging in an all-out warfare style cleaning of my home after the flea treatment. Good thing it's only 1200 square feet because I'm worn out. I've basically washed everything that's a fabric in the house and vacuumed the couches and floors and mopped. So help me if I see one bug in this house (though they did say you will likely see them for another 2 weeks).

No you can't change like on Southwest. Which is a huge pain. It is a $200 ticket change fee per ticket. Sometimes you can talk them into waiving it or reducing it, but general policy is $200 a ticket. It should count as credit on Amex though. I think the change fee within 24 hours is up to $75 (that is just for catching an earlier or later flight). If you do that you pay the $200 and then any difference with the new flight. I think that is subtracted from the $200 but I am not entirely certain. DH is now saying maybe we should cancel our December WDW trip so girls don't miss school. If only it was like Southwest! I really hate to eat that cost.

I have generally found that prices are more expensive right at first, but then go down and then go back up and stay up. I know you can buy flights with the travel insurance but I have never done that as it does not seem too worthwhile. The cheapest flights though generally stay cheapest, but it can vary quite a bit. I know cheapest I have got SLC to MCO non stop is $248...but same flights for our spring break trip I just booked is $596.

Glacier NP would be awesome. It is on my list. :)
Thanks for info. That is what I figured on canceling/changing - costly. I’m going to wait before booking to see if prices drop. The Kalispell airport is small with limited flights. That is causing it to be high cost as well. But it will save half a day of driving from Spokane.

Another Delta Vacations question. Is it possible to use this to get 2021 tickets by purchasing 2020 tickets, letting them expire, and buying 2021 tickets, since you can apply the value to the purchase of a new ticket after expiration?

I have already purchased a package for a June 2020 trip to WDW, and I don't plan on cancelling it. I added one ticket for DD5 for that trip but we have the other tickets already. But, we're also planning to go to WDW in March 2021. Here's what I'm thinking about: could I add 3 day flex tickets to my existing package, let them expire, then use the value to purchase 6 day non-hoppers for March 2021?

This is assuming I can add tickets to my package using Delta miles. I called to ask, and the rep said I could, but I didn't actually try at that point since I'm still thinking it through.
My Tickets specifically say value can be used towards tickets when they expire so I see this working. I would probably just add them to a different DME as not to confuse things and accidentally use them when you go In March. The other option would be to upgrade them to APs. With the memory maker and food discount you may come out ahead and use the AP in March 2021

Knew I was forgetting something!

Just me and my husband, and looking at early January.

Great! That should be doable. I always follow Josh's touring plans at easyWDW dot com. He has really handy cheat sheets that have color-coded maps with what rides are FP/rope-drop priorities and really thorough itineraries that work pretty well. Plus his dining reviews are fun.

Park hours in January will probably be fairly short - our dates after President's Day weekend have the parks generally open 9 am - 8 pm. Our plan is to rope-drop whatever priority rides we can't get FPs for, do shows and anytime attractions once crowds get heavier, and then head to bed early after park close. The most challenging park will be Hollywood Studios, since both GE rides will be open by then and you can only pick 1 other ride for your Tier 1 FP. You will need to pick your priorities there and decide what rides you would be okay skipping if you need to. Thankfully the non-GE stuff will probably be a walk-on for a while after park open so you should be able to knock a bunch of stuff out. Plus, with 2 people you should be able to refresh and get more FPs once you are finished with your pre-booked 3.

We were at DL in May and really loved it. FP+ has nothing on MaxPass!

What say my WDW Experts?

I know there is no way I can see everything I want to see in one trip.
  • I am intimately familiar with DisneyLAND.
  • I am most interested in seeing the "big" rides at WDW (except maybe Space Mountain, which I hear is inferior to its DL counterpart).
  • I am not much of a show person, although I do terribly miss Country Bear Jamboree.
  • I want to ride the PeopleMover because I miss it too.
  • I have decided on NO park hoppers (one park per day only).
In your expert opinions, would it be "worth it" (I know it's subjective) to fly out there (from PHX) for only FOUR park days? One day per park?

I can get the flights (I think) for free on American with the miles I will be accumulating from CitiAA (thank you, I Love Credit Cards members).

I have a reasonable hotel quote for POP Century for 5 nights and of course I would have to buy the park tickets.

ETA: Travel party would be just me and my husband, and I am looking at early January.

Would you recommend a newbie go for that limited amount of time, or should I wait and hold out until I have at least a week or even 10 days?
I think you could cover a lot of ground in 4 days. Epcot will sadly be in a state of disarray because of all the future plans and DHS has some really weird FP+ tiers, but I think you could still have fun. I have never been to DL (yet!), but I know there are a lot of exact copies of attractions. Maybe skip those if you have already been on them in DL? I personally wouldn't skip any park because they are all fun and unique, but something like DHS and Epcot probably won't require you being there from open to close with limited attractions. This could really be convenient if you are at POP on the Skyliner because you could take a break to relax at the resort or go to any of the Epcot resorts for a quick bite or to explore.

Stacey and I would agree that these are "must dos" MK: 3 mountains (all "different" than DL) & Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, DHS: Rock 'n Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror, & Slinky Dog Dash, AK: Flight of Passage & Expedition Everest, and Epcot: Test Track? LOL for "big" rides.

I love Stacey!! Guilty pleasure admission... I watch the old must do videos on YouTube sometimes. 🤣

Has anyone ever bought anything from shopalldisney dot com? They have the Eeyore Cuddleez that my daughter wants and I can't decide if the website is legit or totally sketchy.....

You got it right. I booked a Disney hotel within 60 days but it shouldn’t matter. Since your not taking the flight look at ATL-MCO 2 nights at a value. There was mention in the ticket terms that it’s “will call” if you stay offsite. I can’t confirm it and frankly I’d be surprised if that was the case. My tix came directly from Disney and I uploaded them immediately. As far as I can tell they are upgradable and your dates should work! Just in the nick of time
Did you get a separate email from Disney? I just got an email from Delta with my "travel documents" which was more like a receipt, but no tickets yet.

I have a 10 day minivan rental through Alamo on Oahu this December for $377. Being a Costco member, I can add the Costco code (7014627) under the Contract ID for the discount and second driver. I will pay either my Arrival or my CSR for the insurance. I won’t pay until we get there and will continue checking prices to see if they go down.
How far in advance did you book?

I just booked our first excursion for our Oahu trip. It’s a 3hour snorkeling trip with 3 stops. The first stop is with spinner dolphins, we ultimately float with life jackets and the dolphins swim below us. The second stop is with sea turtles and the third stop is supposed to be just a nice snorkeling spot. I’m really hoping it is as good as the TripAdvisor reviews. We will end up cashing out Mom’s UR points but I’m pretty happy.
Can you send me a link? After car rental I need to focus on excursions! I have a general plan, but need to figure out details.

Very excited since I have another Delta Vacation on hold for Italy next summer! Right now, we are booked for 11 days in June flying into Rome and out of Milan. We have 3 nights at the cheapest hotel in Rome, but may change once I figure out hotels or just use it as a throwaway. With insurance it ended up being over $5K so I used 199K Delta skymiles, 66K MR and $183. He said we can use the Delta GCs, so I will probably pay more with all those $50 cards I have.

I did book the 4 of us on 3 separate reservations so that was somewhat time consuming. DH and DD on one ticket assuming they will get upgraded to EC with his Platinum status. Anyone have experience with being upgraded to EC on international flights? A reservation for me in EC and then our other DD needs to come home earlier.

This is such a good deal for us. Nonstop flights were 120K Skymiles (plus fees) or $1,600 each. It is also great that we will earn Skymiles on these tickets. I am seriously considering booking another trip!!

Thinking about the next step for DH.

Card history:

Chase Freedom - 12/16
Chase Freedom Unlimited AU - 05/17
Chase Sapphire Preferred - 09/17 (downgraded to Chase Freedom)
Chase Ink Cash - 03/18
Chase IHG - 03/18
Bank of America BankAmericard - 01/18
Chase Ink Unlimited - 02/19

So he is 2/24. I am thinking about applying him for a CIP. I no longer have one, so I wouldn't get a referral bonus, unfortunately. He already has two Chase business cards, so I am not sure what his chances are for a third? We are planning to buy new tires for both cars, so meeting the spend would be pretty easy.

All of our major trips are covered through 2020, but we are hoping to go to Hawaii in 2021. I am thinking I want to keep the flexibility to pursue SW companion passes for both of us for flights, but I would love to build more UR points to help cover some hotel expenses since we plan to do a split between Aulani and somewhere on Kauai. Thoughts? Thanks!
I say go for it.

So staples is only allowing 1 card per person and credit card needs to be in the person’s name. I have cards with the kids name but the guy wouldn’t let the kids get a gc.

In a positive note made my second trip to Walmart and the cashier said I remember you (I went last week and then yesterday. Kinda scary she can remember me.) now to make a trip tomorrow or Friday. Hopefully it will be easy.

We did a trip that sounds exactly like this when we went to Aulani and loved it! Where does it go out of?

Yes the email came from Disney after the travel documents. I got it just under 24 hours. Did you book at less than 60 days and a Disney resort?
