New D23 Expo Superthread! (6/24/2019)

That was so not fun! I dread the Guest Services lines.

And? Sorcerers were just as shut out. Good times!

That would really be a pisser to pay all that money and still not get stuff. I guess I don't see the value of the Sorcerer's package then. I'm just familiar with what the VIP package at Destination D gets you.

We do get panel reservations at all four spaces, so that is a huge plus. The early shopping day/merchandise is nice but not everything is available nor is every store open.

Today we were in with everyone else for the Talent Pass and Store Pass opportunities.

From what I’m seeing...lots of angry people.

Where can you park Overnight? The convention center parking doesn't have overnight parking

My neighbors just said they had the same issue we had, so did the neighborhood Doc. We were Online at the start. No reservations available. Glad some got them but 4 us, flying 1290 + miles for nothing flattens and curves back the ears. Hoping we can at least see and do something fun at expo but we r definitely one n done. Skipping out to Universal has cheered everyone up here. Neighbors up for that too. We r gonna need a bigger bus...bringing our wands.

I think everyone needs to remember that this is the first year they have done reservations. You will still be able to get into panels and wait for stores. You just have to wait in line, like we have for the last 5 expos. I’m not sure why people think they won’t be able to do anything now.

All - as I posted earlier I am one of the lucky ones - in hindsight. I am so SORRY so many of you good folks did not get in and felt so frustrated. I was trying to give updates so you could have an idea of what some of us were seeing. I assumed all of you would get in eventually.

I am going solo this year and wish now that I had chosen to add a friend so I could take some of you who I know personally.

I will have my Lime Green Mickey Head with HydroGuy on it and hope to see you all again. And make some new friends.

Those of us who did not get the passes they wanted (or basically any) think that we won't be able to do anything now because we really don't know.

There are rumors floating around that standby will just be filler for passes that don't show up. Is this true? I don't know, but D23 has not answered any of those people posting those concerns online. People claim to have been told that info by D23 phone cast members.

I'd like to see Disney+ on Friday at 3:30. Did not get a pass. How many passes did they give out? No idea. When should I get in line for it? No idea. Will probably end up spending my entire day in line because I don't want to miss it and I don't even have any idea how many seats are going to be left available.

So lets try to take it a bit easy on those of us who are panicking.

I totally understand being worried about that and not knowing. I just absolutely don’t believe that the only standby spots are for people who don’t show up. There’s no way they gave away 100% of the seats. Especially since gold members get priority anyway.

Of course D23 should be way more transparent so people actually know what to expect. But par for the course with D23.

This. I know we don’t know for sure, but I’m with you. I highly doubt they’ve given all of the seats to passes. I’m figuring it will be like the years past, only we’ve done the passes online instead of in person.

Edit: Plus, there is so much to see and do on the show floor, you could actually have an amazing time with no panels. I’ve never done it completely, but I definitely have done expos with very few panels.

For those asking, I do not see any of my reservations in the app at this point.

Me neither. I’m wondering if they’re working on it. For most of the afternoon, it just had the message saying reservations were full. Now the little circle is turning around and then it errors out.

And I just went back and checked again and it says the reservations are full. I have my confirmation email though, so I’m not really worried about it.

Is anyone's reservations showing up in the app?
I'm sure once they stop redirecting to the reservations portal they will come up. In fact, I saw my reservation flash on the screen for a sec before being redirected.

I used Spot Hero to reserve a spot in the Anaheim Marriott's valet garage as it's 24 hours. I'm not sure if that lot still has spots, but I think the Clarion Hotel lot still does and is also 24/7.

Will call, guest services. REALLY feeling for the front line folks who have no control but face all the heat.

Before the reservation system was announced, I figured that if my sister and I got to the expo by 3 am, we had a shot at getting seating if we wanted for Hall D23. Now, I expect that the Gold Members Line will be filled by then. People on Twitter and Facebook are talking about being able to still purchase memberships and get the perks right away at the expo using letters issued to them by D23. This makes me wonder if, even at 3 am, we have a shot at D23, especially for HA seating.

I am trying to be positive for my sister, but it is very difficult. She currently is having trouble understanding time differences between EST and PDT. I am afraid she will adjust quicker than me to the difference in time and those 3 am entries will become a no go.
