I love credit cards so much!

We get that a lot. Everyone thinks I am younger than I am, but I also started having children younger than most these days.
So yes she is my daughter. Our kids’ ages span 2-19.

I started younger too. Never, ever regret that decision! I loved being a young mom. I get the 'you look too young to have an 18yo on a daily basis'. I honestly don't think anyone would think that I looked so young unless they knew I had an adult child lol.

I'm guessing you have the same experience as me. All of the moms of my dd's are much older than me, and all the moms of my ds's are younger than me. I've never had a 'mom friend' my age.

After some serious research I believe I will benefit the most from opening a new CSR over the Platinum Amex and Citi Prestige (I will touch on this later).

I am interested in the benefits of a premium travel card and would like to keep one open. I am not opposed to the loophole of applying to both Sapphires on the same day. I can definitely charge the $4,000 intro for one card easily, but the second may be a little tougher. I know I will be purchasing two new iPhones and a new Apple Watch once they are revealed in September and most likely released in October. I do not think I should apply to the Sapphires until later this month to ensure the Apple purchases can be included for the 3-month promo on the second card.

I also enjoy flying JetBlue and seeing as it is not a Sapphire airline partner, I am considering the JetBlue Plus Barclaycard. One trip with my family and the saved baggage fees will more than cover the $95 annual fee. If I take 3 or 4 trips annually, that adds up. I know the CSR travel credit would cover some of this, but it is my understanding that any travel including a hotel deposit would use up the $300 travel credit.

What would be my best approach to opening these three cards? It is my understanding that the double Sapphire trick really only requires 1 hard pull on your credit since it is the same day. Does that mean I can apply for a third card sooner? And at what point would I want to change the CSP to a different Chase card? Am I missing something or is there a better plan out there?

Back to Citi… I currently have 2 Citi cards. They are very boring and lackluster: Citi Dividend card (retired) and Citi Forward card (retired) that recently changed into a Thank You Preferred card. I would ideally like to change at least one of these, but they are my two oldest lines of credit and I do not want to negatively impact that. I was hoping I could change/upgrade the Dividend card to the Double Cash card. While not the best, it would have more potential. I was also thinking I could even change/upgrade the Thank You Preferred to a Thank You Premier or Prestige card. This may be a little overkill with two Sapphires, but I figure this could be a possibility and JetBlue is a Citi partner. Am I better off forgoing the Sapphire points and Barclaycard to do this? If only the Prestige had a current opening bonus my decision would be so much simpler!

it depends on your 5/24 status. Most of the cards(i think) u are talking about are personal cards. I would try to hit the chase cards first within the first 2 years(varies on your 5/24 status), after that, u can hit other cards without worrying
for citi, theres also another interesting card u can try to push one of your cards to. its called like the AT&T access more card. Its got a 3x on online purchases that earns TYP points. Would be a cool card to use. As for prestige, the non-existing signup bonus makes it quite a lackluster. According to DoC, it seems like its getting revamped again, hopefully for the better.

Yes, if u double dip Sapphire cards, u will only get 1 pull. if u want to hit another chase card, its best to wait 6 months. you can change your CSP after a year. you can however downgrade it to a Chase Sapphire and then to a freedom card, but its wise to keep it for a year so u stay on Chase's good side.

For JetBlue, i think there is a biz card u can get. u should try to get that one to preserve ur 5/24 until u decide to get out of it.

A few things: If you have a mortgage, car payment etc. you can use Plastiq to pay that bill with your credit cards to help you meet the MSR for the bonus. Yes, it does incur a fee, but often worth the fee when trying to meet the spend on a new card since the bonus for the new card is so much greater.

UR points may not directly transfer to Jet Blue but you can still use your points to pay for the flight beyond the travel credit. I picked some random dates in November on Jet Blue flying JFK - MCO. The RT price was $253. The cost with Jet Blue points was 19,700 True Blue points. Now you can use your $300 travel credit on the CSR to take that flight immediately and it would be covered. Let's say you need to take a similar flight for similar pricing a few months later after you have made the spending requirements for your double dip. You would have 54,000 UR points in your Sapphire Preferred and 54,000 (worth $675 @1.25 pp) in the Sapphire Reserve (worth $810 @1.5 pp). You transfer your Preferred points into your Reserve account so they too can be worth $810. Now you have 108,000 UR points worth $1620.00. You can purchase your Jet Blue flight through the UR portal. It will cost you 16,867 UR points. This is still less points than the Jet Blue card. You will also earn points faster on UR cards than you would a Jet Blue card. Jet Blue is 3x on Jet Blue flights purchased. CSR is 3x on all travel. Jet Blue is 2x on dining. CSR is 3x on dining. Jet Blue points can only be used on Jet Blue. CSR can be used to purchase just about any flight or hotel or cruise. If you product change your CSP to a no fee Sapphire and then Freedom card like @Albort suggested after a year then you can earn UR points at 5x on quarterly bonuses. If you are going to go for a business card, I'd still go for the Chase Ink Preferred over the Jet Blue business card. The 85,000 UR after spend is worth $1062.50 and transferred to a CSR account it is worth $1275. Hope this helps.

Soooo who is booked wdw resort only thru chase ur?
My account in the app shows that wdw charged the room cost to my cc.
But I booked thru chase and they took my points. Help!

You are at WDW right now, correct?

I would think that's how WDW would have to account for it as they would not be able to say 'pay us in UR's'. And, they ask you for a credit card when you check in so it will probably all shake out correctly.

Otherwise sitting here wishing I was there....have a great time!

I am sitting here looking at a weekend with no plans other than to mow grass and its just soggy out there!

@disneymagicgirl is making me want to take my annual pass and go to Disney, or maybe just to Florida.

Then, I want to ride up to New England and over to Cape Cod to visit a friend.

And I want to go back to the ocean...….any ocean side place, just so I can hear waves crash.

I have $1850's worth of spend to do, but haven't received my Amex yet so really only $850. I need to take the Chase card down to Walgreen's and see what kind of cards they have. I can buy some gas, Panera, and whatever.

Today I have no fomo, just a restless, want to get on the road, feeling.

Same here with the soggy grass! Just talking about that to DH. Really needs cut but it has rained so much these last few days.

I had to drop DS off at xcountry practice this morning so just spent some time in Walgreens. I bought $300 amazon and a $25 Starbucks. My DH hasn’t been hitting Starbucks as much as he used to. I didn’t see any other cards I wanted.

My trip in January I booked straight through the portal. It just came up as room paid for. No charges on credit card for it at all. Is it on your credit card statement as pending? Or is that just through MDE?

I did last dec, I think I had a hold on my card after checking in that went away (3 night stay) this was before they started showing charges in the app bit I saw it in my chase account

Hello from Virginia Beach! Just caught up here on yesterday’s posts. Having a nice trip, and the Courtyard Marriott at 25th Street is identical to the Courtyard at 37th Street, other than the really nice pool. I’ll post a review after my trip. I have my review of the Hilton Anaheim typed up too, but haven’t had time to upload pictures for it yet.

I just checked my Hilton account and got 15,400 points for my stay in Anaheim with the triple point bonus! This doesn’t include the approximately 3,000 points I’ll get from using my Hilton card to charge it too. Pretty good value from a two night stay! I wish I’d booked a Hilton stay for this trip too since they extended the promotion, but nice to add a little to my Marriott stash since I’m about to burn 30,000 points on a stay.

So...here's my thought this morning. Looking for some experienced opinions...I was waiting to do my wife's double dip until it had been 4 months since our CIP application. I'm just trying to play it safe...I am 26 months into a 4 year churning strategy so I don't want to rush anything.

However...am I just playing it too safe this time? I really would like to get these new cards, haha. Will 7 more calendar days really make a difference? I'm thinking I ought to just go for it next week. For a guy who once applied for 5 cards in 5 days...I sure sound cautious. I don't even know why I was trying to space them out by 4 months...I guess it just sounded good, lol.

Agree do the Chase cards first. If you do both Sapphires same day you apply for one and then use a different browser to open the other application and apply. You have to do it like that since Chase doesn’t want you to have two Sapphires. I think you have to be about a year but then you can downgrade the Preferred to a no annual fee Freedom or Freedom Unlimited.

If you are ok with business cards all the Chase UR cards need to be attempted to get before you are 5/24.

As to the Citi cards I don’t have any but my thought is you could call and talk to them. See what they would offer. I agree if they are your oldest cards you don’t want to cancel.

I got three Chase cards in 4 months when I first started :confused3 lol. I didn’t know any better, and nobody batted an eye at Chase. My only other card before that was an AU on my my mom’s Cap One card, so maybe take that into account. But I think you sound like you’re in a good place, especially since I think you’ve been hitting business only lately. I’m going 4 months between DH’s CIC and double dipping him, but that’s just because the timing worked out better for us in terms of me downgrading my CSP and finishing up a few other MSRs.

I think the only way the 7 days would make a difference is if your statement was just about to close or had closed and then only if you had reduced credit limits recently. Otherwise maybe just go for it.

Easy for me to say though I want a new card but am a little hesitant right now and keep thinking since I hit it so hard this spring should wait a little longer. :)

We paid for our rooms through UR. If you are there still, I’d head down to the front desk and have them figure it out. They should be able to see that you booked through a 3rd party and have paid.

I think you are trying very hard to play it safe cause You are pretty leery of Chase, and rightfully so. I’m about to go for another chase card and I’m having trouble finding my nerve. I don’t think 7 days will make or break your situation. If you are ready this next week, go for it!!

My CIP bonus posted officially. I guess my first billing cycle must have closed yesterday or today. It feels great! So I can just let those points sit until I get the Sapphires and then transfer the points to the CSR for 1.5x right? DH’s CIP will be here before long so I’ll have that to work on too.

We’ll have a few small trips over the next few years, but what I’m really looking to save points for is a Europe trip for 4-5 early summer 2020.
