I've stopped making ADRs because of the credit card policy, anyone else?

We have a trip coming up, but I haven not made one dining reservation. On our last trip, I used Open Table or did same-day reservations. Every time I go to make a ressie, I remember about the credit guard guarantee, and I stop. I just don't want the hassle factor.

So we don't get the "prime" reservations, and we take what's available. Or we eat in our DVC villa or go offsite.

Has the credit card policy affected how you approach planning for your trips?

My suggestions Eat at better places and don't bother with the Disney ADR mess. For example several of the better restaurants in Disney Springs are on Open Table. Easier to book and easier to cancel. Or go to the Swan/Dolphin (better food no hassle)

I don't bother with Disney ADRs because the hassle of trying to book them isn't worth it once I get the food :) If they want me to book 6 months in advance I better be getting 4 star dining not, just OK!

Not one bit. I don't see the big deal at all. If you don't cancel you get a small ding on your card. By not cancelling you denied somebody else the opportunity to have a meal there. I get that some don't want that much planning in their day, but then you are at the whim of others that cancel or don't show.

Doesn't bother me. Many of the places I eat at in my region have the same policy so perhaps I'm fine/resigned/don't even think about it anymore.

No

I've been accidentally dinged for being a no show once at Via Napoli even though we ate there. And I still think it's a great policy! :)

I love my ADRs and I love the policy. I don't like the idea of someone making a reservation and then not canceling or no-showing. This prevents someone else who would actually like to reserve a meal there, from doing so. Like a PP said, there's no good excuse for having to pay the no show fee and so, I just hope people realize their negative impact on other families and care about that when making/ keeping their reservations.

The policy has not been a problem for me at all. I have only been dinged once and that was because it was such a last minute cancelation and it was over 5 years ago. I have changed many ADRs day of without being assessed the fee and it was all hassle free.

I am actually in full support of the policy> I carefullly choose our ADR's and will often choose a few extra on my ADR day that my family wants, but I am not sure will work with the schedule. FOr instance, I choose a PPO, or at least I used to choose one, for MK and Epcot, but dropped one as soon as I had my plan in place. I also book a TS meal fro every evening but will drop one as soon as the candlelight processional schedule is released. I have never been charged because I never have blown one off.

I am just fine with the policy. If we decide not to eat somewhere I either cancel the reservation within the acceptable timeframe or I modify it. In all of our years of going to WDW and scheduling ADRs we have never been charged the cancellation fee; yet we eat exactly what we want when we want.

I see no hassle whatsoever with it. Make your adr, go to your adr.

With opentable if you skip enough reservations you can get your account closed, or so people say, and that sounds like a hassle.

The one time we’ve had an issue with an adr (my son got sick after midnight and we had a morning adr) I called and let them know what was going on, and they cancelled it for me as a courtesy.

And I hope you called and got the charge reversed.
