Looks like a great day ... take it easy days are my favorite. Looks like a beautiful town and some yummy treats. Very cool that you got to try some local delicacies. I'm trying to imagine what roast chicken chips would taste like. Hurrah for more spa time - it looks so beautiful and relaxing. I love how Steve enjoys it too. LOL on second lunch -- no calories on a cruise!!
Nothing like a good ol' "take it easy" day on a cruise...even at port! It was nice that it was sandwiched between two very busy port days.
It was a lovely day and the port was very small - the town also seemed very small but we only saw a small portion of it.
Roast chicken chips are just very savory-tasting. You know Chicken in a Biscuit? It has similar seasonings but with rosemary, that's how I can best describe it. I would have really liked it without so much rosemary.
Loved the spa - I really sought to treat myself on this cruise by saving up all my Disney gift cards I got for birthdays and such, hehe.
Steve loved the unlimited crab legs at Cabanas. I think he always got some every day, even if it were just by himself.
What a nice, relaxing day! I'd have done the double yogurt, too! Besides, it's healthy, right?
It looks healthy, so it MUST be healthy right? This also applies to jams, strawberry milkshakes, and desserts with fruit in it, like pie.
Is all of Canada beautiful? I'm starting to think so.
Yes, it apparently is!
Sounds like a lovely time at the spa, excited to hear more about your day!
I'm so glad you got in some good quality Canadian junk food!! Especially the garlic fingers...nom! Sounds like you had a nice relaxing day.
I haven't been to Sydney yet (we're actually going in a few weeks for Nathan's work) but Nathan's been there quite a few times and I know there's not a whole lot going on there outside of the expected small seaside town stuff. Sometimes there's some cool Celtic music stuff going on in the summer. If you're ever back in Cape Breton, there are some beautiful hiking trails from what I've heard on parts of the Cabot Trail. And there's the Alexander Bell house/museum in Baddeck. But I've never done either of those things.
All I really know about in Sydney is the giant fiddle. lol
It was all really tasty and good! Thanks again! I hope you enjoy Sydney! I'm not sure what else there is to do there but at least we saw the fiddle, LOL.
Yeah we were thinking if we ever to this itinerary again that we'd do one of the excursions that included a hike around the Cabot Trail. Not that I hike a lot though, I'm more of an "enjoys to be driven around" type tourist, haha.
You had some absolutely gorgeous weather that day, you lucked out!!
It was a beautiful day! We had amazing weather in all ports. We were lucky.
Oh my god, Roast chicken potato chips are my fave lol I actually HATE ketchup chips (how uncanadian of me!) I agree though, you need to like the flavour of rosemary haha
Haha yeah I wasn't expecting the flavor of rosemary though. But I guess a lot of roast chicken does have rosemary in it, so that's probably why I don't eat a lot of roast chicken, unless I have a chance to at least smell or taste it beforehand. Ketchup chips are fine to me. They are kinda like BBQ chips. I am a chip purist for the most part though and I like to eat plain chips most of the time.
That fiddle is enormous! Almost towers over the ship
well, not quite!
Yeah, it's really interesting why they chose to build a giant fiddle, but I guess they needed something touristy for the area.
Ok, I'm really curious about these chicken potato chips. I'll have to remember to keep an eye out for Canadians in my cruise groups.
I know, I was too! It's like Chicken in a Biscuit but with rosemary undertones...does that make sense?
Yay! I'm so glad you got to try a Donair! I love roast chicken chips, but they are a bit of an acquired taste.
They are hard to find outside Atlantic Canada so I always stock up when I'm there.
It was fun to try everything, thanks again for the recs!! It's definitely interesting. I eat steak-flavored chips from the UK and I really like them, so I thought I'd like these too.
Sounds like a lovely low key day in Sydney!
It definitely was a lovely day!
