The walking dead amc #2

I get what you're saying, but... IMO...
  • She seemed fine accepting the help while they were slaughtering everyone else
  • She doesn't say anything about keeping him as a bargaining chip
  • Seems like poor strategy to assume that a lieutenant would ever "convert" and not be a danger (Dwight being an exception as he put himself on the line and is proving himself at great risk); unless you're going to build a giant apocalypse jail and want to expend resources keeping them alive, seems like lieutenants need to go
  • And she just looked appalled -- which was just too silly to me

True, but out of the lieutenants Gavin did seem the most likable one. He at least tried to be decent when collecting the savior's goods from the Kingdom. Not saying he was an a okay guy, but Ezekiel at times during last episode tried to give Gavin a second chance, I think knowing Gavin was probably only doing what he was doing because he was being forced by Negan. I do agree with you about Carol looking appalled, but again maybe it's because she has seen Morgan go from one extreme to the other. I do agree the writing is all over the place, I'm trying to go with the flow, but they do make it hard lol.

All excellent points -- and I agree completely with these things! :)

I just hope they bury that stupid hat, too.
Funny that you say that... as soon as we knew Carl was going to die, my kids and I were talking about this. My son said: "Well, he'll have to give Judith the hat." And we all nodded, "Yeah, of course." :rotfl:

It was not a vote of support for the hat, just a statement of what we all assumed to be fact!

I thought the dreamy old Rick visions were Carls hope of the future. So he is basically hoping for peace. That is why Eugene was there, and Negan.
From a Q&A with Chandler Riggs on AMC's TWD blog:

"Q: What did you make of Carl’s fantasy? Is it possible?

A: I honestly was super surprised to find out that it was Carl’s fantasy. When we were doing the flash forward in Episode 1, I was like, “Man, this is going to be awesome!” I didn’t expect it to be Carl’s dream. The fantasy being Carl’s, I think, makes him more of a wise and intricate character. He sees what life could be like versus Rick just killing Negan. Carl’s idea is a life beyond that and a life where everyone is living happily – not just the Saviors being dead, but them being a part of Alexandria and Hilltop and joining forces to fight the common enemy and not each other."

Interesting that you mention that re: Morgan in his "clear" mentality and whether this will be connected to his transition to FTWD.

We thought that whole scene where Carol and Ezekiel are looking at Morgan like he's CRAZY because he's about to kill Gavin was absolutely NUTS. They all just got through killing everyone else there -- but Morgan is nuts because he wants to kill the leader of that group?
OK -- so the intestines thing was a tad... extreme ;) ... but not more than a lot of stuff we've seen characters on this show revert to.

But this feeling so contrived probably has Gimple finger prints on it as well... perhaps this serves as an awkward excuse to have Morgan exit the show as you suggest.

I do watch FTWD -- last season was actually better than the others. All bets now off since Gimple will now have some sort of role there where he didn't before. I'm unclear on the timeline now. FTWD started before TWD started, but I'm not sure how to track how much time has gone by... we don't have Judith's age to gauge by over there. :)

Carol is a stone cold killer. She may not like it, but she does what has to be done. This is the woman who killed Karen when she feared she would infect the prison with that illness, she killed the smoker lady (can't remember her name) in Alexandria when the Wolves attacked and the woman was injured. (she killed her to prevent her from yelling out) Not to mention LIZZIE! Carol doesn't shy away from killing anyone she thinks is a direct threat, but by her prior actions, she's also not one to leave loose ends or be moved by too much mercy for people. She wouldn't bat an eye in normal circumstances if Morgan killed someone to "clear" the area.

I hope it's not another stupid writing direction (Gimple, I'm looking at you!) to drastically change a character's character (lol you know what I mean) to progress the story. I sincerely hope we don't see Carol approaching Rick at some point talking about Morgan being a crazy danger who has to go. (like Lori told Rick about Shane) Best case scenario has Morgan leaving to a. get back on the cheese maker peace path, or b. that he can't live in peace with the remaining Saviors after the war is over and decides to leave. I just hope they don't kill him off in this timeline.

What a sad episode. I felt bad for Chandler Riggs and how he seems to have been jerked around.

I'm also getting a wee bit bored of the the Negan story line.
Time to wrap it up and move on. Truly the shows crowning glory season was Woodbury. Aside from that I much preferred the troop when they were Nomads.
I agree.
Many fans are upset with the way Negan has been written. He is supposed to be 10 times worse than the governor but is nowhere near that in the show. They are supposed to wrap up the war soon, but they really missed out on making Negan a really good bad guy.

I am wondering if they are making Negan less awful because he is going to stick around as part of the "family" eventually. If we HATED him, it would be hard to keep him around and justify him being part of the gang. I think, anyway.

I really like JDM and how he plays Negan. I haven't gotten to that part in the comics yet to make a comparison -- I bought them after I was disgusted with the mid-season finale and didn't care anymore if they "spoiled" anything on the show!!

The war needs to END ALREADY, but I must admit that if I could keep watching JDM WITHOUT it being stupid story-wise, I wouldn't complain... still is hard to imagine the road between where we are and Negan living in harmony with the group...

I'm also a big fan of JDM, but they do need to wrap this war up. I'm not sure how they could possibly make Negan someone they can trust, maybe Carl's death affects Negan in a way where he just surrenders or realizes what he has done and begs for forgiveness. I don't know, really not sure how they can possibly make that work.

I just wanted to also add, is it possible Carl wrote a letter for Negan and if he did, is that maybe the way the writers can make Negan someone they can trust??? Negan definitely had a soft spot for Carl. It actually seemed like Negan almost consented to Carl when Carl was talking to him on the wall right before Carl double crossed him.

Has anyone been keeping up with Lauren Cohan's contract issues with AMC?

And there's some interesting tidbits in this article below. Be warned, there are some spoilerish parts. Including what Gimple had to say about Morgan on FTWD. I just found this article tonight.

I had seen the info about Lauren Cohan a few days ago. Personally, I don't think she is going anywhere. She is just negotiating. She want's more money, and I think she will get it.

I hope so! I know she's signed for a pilot and there's no guarantee it will get picked up.

Not sure how much of an impact it would make, but I would LOVE IT if there is a note to Negan!!!

How do you all read this...

“...potentially to return to The Walking Dead, reprising her fan-favorite role as Maggie on a recurring basis should she is able to make a new pact with AMC.”

Is this like on a soap where “recurring basis” means cycling in and out, or some episodes here and there but not nearly close to all??

Thanks for posting — interesting!

Gimple... “Now an executive producer on both TWD and Fear...”

At least he says the showrunners are really running the show... but he’s still involved and he hired the new FTWD showrunners... fingers crossed, I guess. :-/
