Yo Ho Yo Ho a Tipsy Life for Me - A November '17 Dining Adventure - Complete 5/27

Coming out of the woodwork to make a comment!! (Long time follower of your TRs!!!)

and I have to agree about the lunch at LTT - we LOVE LOVE LOVE that salad for lunch....we go in early/mid-June when it's hot hot hot and that salad is so refreshing and tasty! and then I also don't fee so bad when I partake of that OOEY GOOEY deliciousness dessert!!

We have 2 teenage boys and then have no problem eating a big burger and fries or the turkey at lunch but that salad is just YUM!!

thanks for being a great entertainer!!

:love::hyper2::cheer2:

Oh, I so should have. I remember when I was a kid we'd go to Bob's Big Boy and my Grandma would load up a ziplock bag full of sugars and creamers. I so should have pulled one of those with all the yummy goodies.
Just don't put the sushi in those ziplock bags!

My little pirate got her matey on for the first time and did two Pirate Adventures. We'd never done this before and Casey loved it!!!! Definite must do for all the lil matey's out there.
Where does one lil matey find this?

However, I am disappointed that "field greens" now basically just means iceberg lettuce. Now granted iceberg lettuce is green and does grown in a field, but over the years they have replaced a spring mix with just iceberg. I'm sure this is driven by cost, but as an iceberg lettuce hater bring back the good lettuce!
I am with you on the iceberg lettuce. It should only be used for lettuce wraps!

Aww, Casey looks so cute with the country crooner! We haven't had lunch at LTT in eons, or dinner for that matter. The salad looks good, but I can not order a salad when we go out to eat, ever, as my main course. Harry loves salads and ordered them a lot on our most recent WDW trip. I'm like, seriously? We're at WDW and you're ordering a salad? I truly admire all of you who can eat anything healthy while at WDW, lol! We're taking our just turned 5 year old grandson to WDW next January for his 6th birthday, so I'll have to keep that pirate adventure in mind. I didn't know about it for our December trip when we took our other two grandsons, darn it! They probably would have loved it. Oh well, they'll go back in two years, so hopefully will get the chance to do it then.

I'm getting caught up (again) and ermergerd...how excited I was to see your take on the CG brunch!!! I want to eat everything listed on the buffet portion and every entree. Every. Single. Thing. It all sounds fantastic. And that fried chicken sounds really good to me too even though it seems like a silly thing to get at such an expensive meal. But that french toast though. And carrot cake pancakes??? I can't wait to see what is on the menu when we go in April. I was so bummed about it being cancelled due to the hurricane during our September trip, so it was the first and one of the only ADRs that I booked.

We still haven't been to LTT because I always feel like I don't want such heavy food in the middle of a hot day at MK, but the salad is a reasonable choice that I'll have to keep in mind, although I also hate iceberg. At least it's an excuse to get the toffee cake which I've never had and that qualifies as Disney blasphemy.

Yeah beer :drinking1in the MK. Now if only I could get one in CCH. The salad looks good except for the dreaded iceberg . Like you I am not a fan.
LTT menu looks like another victim of the WDW shrinking menu syndrome

Give Me Liberty or Give Me Beer

From there we headed for lunch, but not before running into our favorite country crooner.

There was blood on the saddle, blood all around....

We eventually made our way to Liberty Tree Tavern where soon the family from the Commonwealth of Virginia was seated in the George Washington room (fitting since we live about 30 minutes from Mount Vernon).

And who can leave Liberty Tree without one of the best desserts on property.
View attachment 297389
Ooey Gooey Cake, Ice Cream, Chocolate, Caramel, and Toffee. Yes. Please. And Thank You!

You can't go past Big Al!

We haven't been to Liberty Tree in years. In fact, we never tried lunch there and I don't know why. A relaxing lunch in a comfortable, air-conditioned bit of Liberty Square sounds perfect. That Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake should be enough for us to race back and grab an ADR immediately! :D

Give Me Liberty or Give Me Beer

I'm already laughing :rotfl:

We were in the corner of the waiting area and literally no one would move that way. I thought maybe Jason had forgotten to shower after his half marathon, but we enjoyed the space nonetheless.
img_4446-jpg.297378

Maybe that's the secret!

Jenny posted a horrible photo of me with way too may chins so you'll have to head on over to her report for proof :car:

Oh, no she didn't! That would be fully censored if it were me!

Yea…iceberg lettuce is NOT field greens. I would be >:(

Overall Liberty Tree continues to be a great lunch option at MK. I'm still disappointed the menu size is so small since they added the all you care to eat option, but you can't beat a relaxing meal with beer and ooey gooey toffee cake!

That looks good! I made a reservation here for April :-)

My little pirate got her matey on for the first time and did two Pirate Adventures. We'd never done this before and Casey loved it!!!!

So cute!

This gal, also from the commonwealth of VA, has the same T-shirt as Jason! Lol

I guess I’ll be adding a pirate adventure or two and maybe some ooey gooey cake to the next trip!
Did I know you were from VA? If I did totally forgot. And not only does Jason have that shirt, but he also works for Potomac River Running :-)

I loved an earlier version of that salad that lacked cranberries. I also got mad when they took away their awesome fried white cheddar curds and then the mozzarella sticks. Glad you enjoyed the salads! Oooey Gooey Cake! That cake is amazing! Glad you guys enjoy it too! Glad you got your beer!

Enjoy work today ;)
I never had the cheddar curds or the mozzarella, but was very disappointed when they reduced the menu so much. The are obviously pushing the AYCTE option, but what about the rest of us. At least there is beer :-)

I worked a whole hour on Monday. :P Just had to go in to process furlough notices for my staff. Proved fortuitous for me as I was sick and would have likely pushed through work, but got a day in bed instead

Ooooh, excited for your next installment ;)
Me too! It was the best night of your trip.

Beer in the MK ... I never thought I’d see the day. Seems like it’s been a non-issue. I still have yet to experience it, though, so will have to make a plan to fix that. That iceberg lettuce does look a little sad but it’s nice to have a light option. I hate when I eat too much and it makes for a sluggish afternoon. The pirate adventure sounds really cute. Glad Casey had such fun with it. You guys packed a lot into your day. Don’t blame you one bit for being ready for some food and wine!
The beer has definitely been a non-issue as far as I can tell, so maybe they will expand it :-) Can you imagine a nice adult beverage while enjoying the fireworks. My kinda night.

The salad definitely hit the spot and was a good option to ensure we had lots of food and wine room!

Ugggh! This is by far one of the worst things about CBR. :( Entirely unfair if you end up in one of the sections that are last on the bus route.
I have no idea why they have split buses with 4 stops on one side and only 2 on the other. Clearly some simple math would prove out another option. We were close to the other stop so it was a non-issue for us, but I felt bad for those that didn't figure that out.

Aww man, that seems like such a lame substitution! I'm sure it's cheaper, but is it really cheap enough to justify such a greens downgrade? :headache:
Most definitely not. Especially when they have raised the price a few bucks too!

OMG Kari!!!! You totally looked adorbs in the photo we took together!!!!
Your adorns is my chins, but thanks you :P

Truer words were never spoken ;)
:-)

This just made me hungry for LTT. I have an ADR for it the night before I do the Princess Half. I ate there the last RunDisney event I did so it's like a tradition now. I didn't know they had started serving beer though. Good to file away.
Good luck on the half!!!!! LTT sounds like the perfect carb overload before a race

Coming out of the woodwork to make a comment!! (Long time follower of your TRs!!!)
Welcome out of the woodwork. Hope you didn't get a splinter :-)

and I have to agree about the lunch at LTT - we LOVE LOVE LOVE that salad for lunch....we go in early/mid-June when it's hot hot hot and that salad is so refreshing and tasty! and then I also don't fee so bad when I partake of that OOEY GOOEY deliciousness dessert!!
Cheers to the salad lovers :drinking1 I'm totally with you on a hot day, it hits the proverbial spot and ensures lots of room for ooey gooey!

hanks for being a great entertainer!!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoy. Please stop by and say hello again

Just don't put the sushi in those ziplock bags!
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Though I have a feeling Casey would probably try this

Where does one lil matey find this?
It is in a small building just past pirates and before you get to Golden Oak Outpost. You should definitely have the girls try this. I have no idea how we missed it for so long, but its a ton of fun and they stops along the treasure hunt are all interactive. We ended up going back a few more times over the course of the trip.

I am with you on the iceberg lettuce. It should only be used for lettuce wraps!
Amen Sista!

he salad looks good, but I can not order a salad when we go out to eat, ever, as my main course. Harry loves salads and ordered them a lot on our most recent WDW trip. I'm like, seriously? We're at WDW and you're ordering a salad? I truly admire all of you who can eat anything healthy while at WDW, lol!
I'm obviously in Harry's camp. I love a good salad, even at Disney world :-) You'll probably not be shocked that Casey takes a salad for lunch to school almost every day. And her "salad" is just lettuce with olive oil and salt.

You most definitely should take your grandson. I have no idea why we'd never done this before, but I'm so glad we finally did. It was so much fun for all of us!

Oh no I can't believe you had to cancel because of the hurricane. What a bummer. But so glad to hear you are going back. You. Will. Not. Be. Disappointed. I can't wait to hear all about it !

Yeah LTT can definitely be heavy, but I'd trudge my way through just about anything to get that cake. You should go and just order that!!!! You would not be disappointed.

Yeah beer :drinking1in the MK. Now if only I could get one in CCH. The salad looks good except for the dreaded iceberg . Like you I am not a fan.
LTT menu looks like another victim of the WDW shrinking menu syndrome
I'm hopeful they start to expand beer and wine in MK to the other restaurants. It doesn't seem to have been an issue for anyone and as we all know, Disney is all about the all mighty dollar.

Dare to dream because, it could come true! A beer would taste SO GOOD with the fried shrimp/fish or my favorite tuna sandwich.
Sign me up, though I'm still disappointed they got rid of my favorite lighthouse sandwich :drinking1

When did they start serving beer? Had I known I would have made an ADR there the night of our MVMCP.
It was whenever they let beer in all the MK restaurants, which I think was a year ago or so. Funny when we were there a few trips back a manager stopped at our table and asked how our meal was. I said good and she asked what would make it great. I blurted out beer, so I like to think this was my doing :drinking1

Oh yum! I think I need to make a reservation here just for this.
Yes you do!

Its definitely a great spot for lunch, you should definitely get an ADR. They are also available last minute all the time.

I'm already laughing :rotfl:
:thumbsup2

Oh, no she didn't! That would be fully censored if it were me!
Oh yes she did. My chins are still angry :-)

That looks good! I made a reservation here for April :-)
Awesome! I didn't realize you all were going in April too, I was just tracking on your October trip. April is gonna be here before you know it!

Hi, just found your dining report and you guys are my kind of family, only with all the drinking and none of the running. I'm now trying to decide if my son wants California Grill for brunch on his Birthday in December. Thanks for the awesome report can't wait to read more.

That dessert is the bomb! I want one right now. I remember it fondly. The Country Bears are so funny, the first time I saw the show I just sat and giggled and thought what the bleep was that, ha, ha!

Greetings everyone!!!! I've been down with a cold most of the weekend
Hope you're better now! Ricky and Chris both have horrific colds right now and my sinuses are screaming :scared1:

We headed to ride Ariel first thing and ran into @Jenny Sanders and her family on the way
SO glad we got to meet her on that trip, too!

and did our best Hulk Hogan impression.
 love this picture of her lol

From there we headed for lunch, but not before running into our favorite country crooner.
I'm so happy this guy is out and about all the time now!

Jenny posted a horrible photo of me with way too may chins so you'll have to head on over to her report for proof :car:
:rotfl2: ALL my chins accompany me in ALL my pictures

LTT is probably my favorite TS in MK now that BOG s*&t the bed in August. I'll be having the salad and Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake in March and most likely a beer to wash it all down :drinking1 Last time we ate there I had a Mimosa which wasn't bad and I do like my Mimosa's, but that one was particularly pulpy.

Ahoy, joining in here!

Love your trip report - it's given me a few laughs - I love your writing style! :D

Cali Grill brunch looked awesome - have never made it to the restaurant - only because I wasn't crazy about the menu when we went. It's also hard for us to do brunch when we go as we go every August - and we are usually in the pool at noon .

Nomad Lounge looked great - I had never heard of it - those wings looked fantastic!

We did Liberty Tree Tavern for the fist time for dinner this summer, it was fantastic. I could only imagine how much more fun it was with the patriotic characters strolling around

Can't wait to read more! Marina

I have just come back to the boards today after a hiatus. Your dining report is so refreshing: I have enjoyed reading every bit of it! I was always on the fence about the California Grill brunch, but your post has convinced me to try it when we return someday. However, the pixie dust that you got is what Disney is all about. Not only does Disney feel magical, but people tend to come together to throw in a little something extra. I'm so glad you got that experience. It just goes to show that generosity and kindness is still in the world.

I look forward to reading more of your report!

Yes...you knew this! Lol! He works at PRR, No way! Leesburg and Ashburn are my stores! Funny
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: Between my age and the wine its hard to remember anything these days. :P Jason works at the Burke store

Hi, just found your dining report and you guys are my kind of family, only with all the drinking and none of the running. I'm now trying to decide if my son wants California Grill for brunch on his Birthday in December. Thanks for the awesome report can't wait to read more.
Sounds like you are my kinda drinking and no running person :drinking1 If your son is a foodie then the brunch is not to be missed. It really is spectacular and out of this world!

That dessert is the bomb! I want one right now. I remember it fondly. The Country Bears are so funny, the first time I saw the show I just sat and giggled and thought what the bleep was that, ha, ha!
It most definitely is one of the best on property.

We are huge country bear fans in our family too. Casey is such an old soul she loves all the kitchy nostalgic shows like country bears and carousel of progress, without even knowing what nostalgia is :-)

Hope you're better now! Ricky and Chris both have horrific colds right now and my sinuses are screaming :scared1:
Pretty much better. Still have some lingering stuffiness and a cough but the worst is hopefully behind me. Hope your crew is feeling better.

I'm so happy this guy is out and about all the time now!
Me too!!!! Love me some country bears.

Did you say salad? Just wanted to make sure I heard you and vegetables in the same sentence :P

Skippers is definitely our favorite TS in MK, but LTT is a close second. I'd love to go to the Plaza again too, but always get confused what their reservation policy is this week.

Love your trip report - it's given me a few laughs - I love your writing style! :D
Thanks so much!

Cali Grill brunch looked awesome - have never made it to the restaurant - only because I wasn't crazy about the menu when we went. It's also hard for us to do brunch when we go as we go every August - and we are usually in the pool at noon .
Brunch is good, but being in the pool with a drink in your hand is pretty dang good too :-)

We did Liberty Tree Tavern for the fist time for dinner this summer, it was fantastic. I could only imagine how much more fun it was with the patriotic characters strolling around
Is this a thing? Did they used to have characters there????

I have just come back to the boards today after a hiatus.
Welcome back!!!

Your dining report is so refreshing: I have enjoyed reading every bit of it! I was always on the fence about the California Grill brunch, but your post has convinced me to try it when we return someday. However, the pixie dust that you got is what Disney is all about.
Thank you so much, I'm glad that you are enjoying it.

You should definitely try CG brunch when you go back. Its truly a thing of wonder!

I look forward to reading more of your report!
Thanks! Should have another update done sometime this week.

Sooo late to your report but loving every minute of it!

Casey is really growing up. Why can't they just stay little a little longer? :confused3

I hear you on the multiple bus stops at the Mods. While I love the theming at the Mods, the better organized bus system made my move to the Values so much easier to take. And those line chains are little wonders. Just like fences make for good neighbours. Keeps everyone happy & respectful. ::yes::
