SURVIVOR 35 • Heroes v. Healers v. Hustlers - "Come on in, guys!"

But how about cocky Devon deciding not to practice and just zen on the beach LOL.

Huh, I didn't see it as cockiness at all. He knew he was stressing himself out and felt that having faith and confidence in himself would be the best way to go. He'd been making fires back at camp so knew he could do it. I thought it was kind of like deciding to sleep before a final exam vs. staying up all night cramming. That's how I saw it anyway. Plus I'm sure they edited it down to look like he didn't practice that much.

Plus, didn't the flint break or something?

Yep, and he said he took it as a sign that he needed to just trust himself and have confidence that he could do it. I was bummed that he didn't even get a fire going. I really liked him, though I didn't think he should be the overall winner.

I wonder if they could really pull this off. Seems like a big liability issue to have them "really" out in the elements having to get their own food and shelter. Maybe there's going to be a shorter kid version spinoff that's similar but adapted for kids?

Yeah. Throw them in the Mall of America, with no cash, credit cards or electronics of any kind.

Not liking the new format of free for all questioning. It gets dominated by a few people. I like the old way of each juror having a crack. And what's with the shortened reunion show? All we really hear from are the ones who lasted the longest and we saw the most of anyway. It would have been fun to catch up on some of the earlier contestants. At least I thought an update on Cole and Jessica was in order, unless that relationship went nowhere.

Wonder who would have won if Devon won the fire challenge.

Did Jeff ever get back to the girl who he had site down who she thought would win? If not what was the point.

yes he did..and her vote was Ben. I didn't open this thread till now, as I hadn't watched the finale till just a little while ago. I picked Ben as the one I wanted to win from day one, and was so happy to see that he won!

Thanks. I must have gotten distracted.

Nope, there is more to the game than winning challenges.

Correct! There have been countless players that dominated the physical challenges and didn't win. I was livid that Brad didn't win last season but that finally made me throw in the towel on the importance of immunity challenge wins. Their importance is just to get you to the next stage of Survivor. As far as jury importance, very, very low!

I wanted Ben to win, but i think the producers did, too. There were just too many planets lining up for him that made me smell a bit of BS. All those idols that seemed to appear after everyone else stopped looking (Mike swore up and down he looked everywhere), the twist at the end that seemed like a feeble attempt to keep someone in the game.

Plus, I don't understand all of those people who had run ins with Ben voting for him. Perhaps they were persuaded behind the scenes.

Regardless, Ben needs the money more than the others, plus he fought for our country so I'm glad he won. If I'm honest with myself, I think Chrissy outplayed everyone.

Paco, can you refresh my memory who James is , or at least what season he was on so I can Google him? Thanks!

And then of course when that still didn't work to get him in the final, they created the final twist in the game. I don't know, the show is losing some appeal to me because it's just so obvious that it's manipulated by the producers. Oh well... still entertaining...

The reunion portion of the show was mostly commercials and ads for next season - which does have an interesting premise. Not sure if I'll continue watching or not.

Technically, that twist was already in place BEFORE he narrowly lost the final challenge.

It's not supposed to be a popularity contest. Yes, there is the social aspect of the game, but the goal isn't to convince everyone you're the most likable - it's to convince everyone you deserve to be in the final more than the other(s).

Gaffes? meh, so like a second chance for people that messed up.

I was thinking last night - it would be really cool if they did one season soon with absolutely no idols at all - but don't tell the players, so each tribal Jeff still says "if anyone has a hidden immunity idol" so they're still looking and still trying to fake each other out - but no one actually gets any. Could really mess with their heads and their gameplay.

I believe that it will be all new players. But there will be all of the 'ghosts' of things that people did wrong in past seasons- like going home with idols in their pockets, giving someone else the immunity necklace and then getting sent home, etc. The season is called Ghost Island

I went to bed shortly after they announced the winner. Did they do any fan questions? Was Ben's tattoo addressed at all? The one always covered up.

Theoretically. Just like those idols were placed BEFORE Ben didn't win the reward challenges. :) Giving in to my conspiracy theorist side, they could have had multiple "twists" written up and ready to give to the winner and chose that one based on what happened in the challenge.

Not much was covered in the reunion portion of the show. I think Jeff only even asked Chrissy one question and the rest of the focus was on Ben, his family, his military buddies, commercials, and promoting next season. They didn't even ask about the status of Cole and Jessica's "relationship" unless I missed that part. I was surprised.
