Hurricane Irma?

Disney CM has just asked us to delete the photos of damage at the resort that we had taken. We weren't doing it to be critical (Disney has been amazing) but rather to remember our Irma experience. We complied out of respect nonetheless. Too bad they didn't get to the person who sent the photo of the downed tree at the Poly to Fox News.
What??!? They can't ask you to delete photos. Wow.

Remember Disney doesn't want any negativity associated with them. They don't want you to remember the damage that occurred because nothing "bad" happens at Disney. That's what makes it so magical.

Did you take them with an iPhone? You can go into Deleted Photos and restore them. I would.

Well, they can ask. They can't make you do it though. They do the same when a ride is evacuated. They do request that you not take photos of backstage areas that you may see. If they see you do it they will ask you to delete them. I don't know that there are any consequences for not doing so though.

That's really strange -- you should tweet about that so the public knows. That's not right

Please get the name of that vigilante CM and report them. That's insane

I was kind of taken aback. He originally approached me and was telling me about other spots where there was damage and then looked at me with a confused look on his face and asked if I worked at Disney. I have a magic band on my wrist and dressed in t-shirt and leggings takings pics with my iPad so I'm not sure how he thought I looked like an insurance adjuster or something. Anyway, I told him I was a guest and he asked me to delete the pictures as that's not the message they want getting out there. I told him I wasn't doing it to spread anything negative about Disney but rather to document what had transpired on our vacation here. It was kind of a big deal...anyway, I deleted them and he thanked me. He was very nice about it but still...

Other than the magic band that's pretty much what a adjuster looks like non descript carrying a iPad. That does sound like Disney too, nothing happened here, nothing happened here. They are worried people see pics and they say " Look at the damage we are canceling."

what resort?

I have never heard of Disney cancelling a reservation if they are at capacity. Your reservation (and all others who are arriving) would have been taken into consideration when they were accepting reservations prior to the hurricane.

Oh, that's a relief to know, thank you!! :) It's our first time at Disney, so we weren't sure what to expect going forward but it definitely sounds like Disney has it covered, lol.

How bizarre! Was it a manager? If not, it sounds like an hourly CM who thinks he's more important than he is. I probably would have pointed out that pictures of the damage have been all over the internet since last night.

No, I don't think he was a manager. Just one of several in a crew standing around a clean up cart outside our room.

For those planning to travel here later in the week I am sure disney property and mco will be back up. Two areas of concern. Evacuees have been told don't return home many went to Orlando to ride out the storm, the hotels are sold out. Second and a larger problem is gas. No gas available and no power to pump the gas. Most of the state is without power so it will take a while to get that back and get gas into the state.
I just wonder how the airport shuttles plan to get the fuel they will need.

Ha. Well, yes, they can ASK. I meant... well, I guess I don't need to explain what I meant. lol

Don't most major airports maintain a separate gas supply? I'm sure they have reserves for this reason

"So the public knows"?

I guess I don't see what the big deal is. Appears like minor stuff like trees down, and one CM (we have no idea if this is what disney is telling CMs to do at this point, btw!) is requesting not to take photos of it. "The public" has a need or right to know this? Meh.

I'd let a manager know and see if this is policy.

I'm seeing a ton of pics online. If it's policy to get photos deleted, they must be missing A LOT of photogs and livestreamers!!

Why? They weren't nasty or threatening. They may have been following instructions or doing what they thought was policy. It's not like they were spoiling the magic for anyone.

That would be a big ol' nope. Disappointing they even asked.
