2017 Epcot International Food and Wine Festival: August 31, 2017 - November 13, 2017

Re posting my earlier question as I think it got lost in the alcohol discussion stream. Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this...

"Our Epcot day is Friday Day 2 of F&W. thoughts on crowds, should we switch our Epcot day to Thursday day 1? We are not 1000% into the festival maybe pop in to check things out here and there. But don't want the crowds to put any dampers on our park day and strolling thru world showcase.

What would you do?"

I'm not sure there will be much difference between the first Thurs and Fri. I was there on day 1 last year and remember the heat as an issue more than the crowds. The DIS did a vlog from day one - you might get a sense of crowd level from some of the shots.

Is it worth it to get eat to the beat concert reservations. I plan on seeing Sugar Ray on a Mon night. Also when do these deals come out?

What's the Avocados booth? I haven't heard about that.

I hadn't heard of it, but I'm really excited about it also. That's because DDIL will be us, and she's from an area of Mexico supposedly known for its avocados. So maybe now we can get her to go to the F&W-up until now she had no interest in it, even though we'll be at WDW in late October. DH and I have been trying to figure out how to squeeze out a little time there.

Attached is the description of the 8 or 16 coupon lanyard from last year's passport.
When do these lanyards come out? If it was priced at $109 last year, what are the chances the price will rise? Thanks in advance.

Not sure when they will come out. Usually they will announce the prices and if they will be coming back in the next 2 weeks. The sampler package was $59 plus tax for 8 tabs and $109 plus tax for 16 tabs.

I was doing a quote with the prices from last year with food and drinks and came out to about $120 or so with stuff id like to try. I just became a new AP holder and was wondering are there any discounts an AP holder can get for the food and wine booths or no.

No discounts at the booths. You can get discounts at the deminars during the week but not on the weekend.

At least that is my hope, because I really liked the craft beer at the Odyssey last year

I did too. Not only the beer, but the Piggy Wings at that booth was one of my favorite booth snacks.

If they have them again, I'd expect them to become available on the first day. Last year, they weren't something you could pre-purchase. And if I know Disney, they will be a few dollars higher in price.

You'll be eligible for a $2 discount on most of the beverage seminars and culinary demonstrations Monday through Thursday, at least that's what was offered last year. There is also typically a "gift" offered for AP holders at the festival. Last year, there was a glass tumbler with the F&W logo etched on the bottom. I believe you had to use your AP for three days during the festival to be eligible for the tumbler.

I have to ask: what on earth is a "piggy wing"?

Last year, I wondered if Disney had found pigs who could fly. LOL! They are cut from the shank, that is, thigh, of a hog. I thought they may come from the ribs, but Google proved that idea incorrect.

@patster734 I also loved the piggy wings and the craft beers in the Odyssey building. The air-conditioning in there was very nice in the middle of the day. We got a table and seats and had the wings plus a few beer flights. Really an enjoyable spot and I would stayed longer and drank more beer, but I was with a couple of ride junkies itching to get on Test Track.

I'm debating if I should try to get into the Preview Event. I have to be on the Space Coast on July 14th for something so I already booked myself at Saratoga Springs for the evening of the 14th and 15th.

I did the preview event before many years ago and enjoyed it but not sure if I want to spend the $145 this year since this trip is unplanned.
