Have you gotten sick on (or after) a ride?

Any motion simulator rides tend to make me green in the gills, but I've never actually been physically sick, just an upset tummy.

Some strategies for Mission Space did help (keeping head still against the head rest, only moving my eyes).

As I have aged, my body ahs become less tolerant of wilder rides (but I still love trying them). My best Disney related story involved Mission Space. I was at Epcot the first week it opened to the public. That was, of course, long before they offered the more "gentle" option. I went to Epcot first thing the second morning of my trip, got one of the old school print out fast passes for MS and excitedly got on board. I was solo that trip and they placed me in a pod with three young girls. Half a minute into the ride, I feel myself getting very sick. The three girls on the ride were screaming with excitement and I recall thinking that I had to do everything possible to make sure I didn't puke on those three young girls.

The ride finally ended, I stumbled into the hallway, collapsed against the wall and sunk to the floor. A team of cast members rushed over to me and brought me water. Apparently, since the ride was so new, I was the first person (at least for that shift of employees) to get that sick on the ride, lol. So they were all very interested in exactly what I was feeling.

Over a decade later, I had convinced myself that the sickness was a one time off day experience and rode it again with my partner. Felt just as bad the second time! So now I only ride the gentle version

The only ride that made me sick at Disney was the old Body Wars ride. It was the same set up as Star Tours (which doesn't bother me) but maybe it was all the blood and inside the body parts plus motion that made me so sick to my stomach! haha

I will say I only attempted orange. I figured how bad could it be? I was wrong. And now I am scared to try green :rotfl2:

It was the tea cups. I usually do not ride them, but my boyfriend at the time begged me to and then made the cup spin the entire time. Needless to say, it ruined the rest of my day and we had to leave Disneyland.:(

Another Star Tours sickly experience here! I felt so incredibly ill after I rode that and was afraid it would impede the rest of my visit. It is strictly off our list for the upcoming visit, as my son is even more prone to motion sickness than I am. I also loved, loved, loved roller coasters when I was younger, but something switched when I got older. I rode some roller coaster at Sea World Orlando (the Manta maybe) and I swear, I got my first ever migraine after the ride. I am hoping that history does not repeat on SM, EE, or FOP on this trip.

Before they changed Mission Space, I didn't feel too great afterward. I didn't get sick, but it definitely got to me. I can do green, I'll never do orange.

Astro Orbiter makes me dizzy.

My daughter (she was 9) got sick on the Jungle Cruise on our last trip. Someone was injured in a boat ahead of us and we idled for awhile waiting for the paramedics. I guess the vibrating of the boat and the tuna from Columbia House didn't settle well. Not a fun time. :)

I will never do Mission Space or the Tea Party. I have noticed as I get older that roller coasters are harder for me to tolerate, especially the indoor dark ones and the outdoor ones after dark. I have yet to get sick, but I do feel a bit dizzy and unstable afterwards.

Okay, Mission Space was definitely one I felt nervous about! Thanks everyone. I'm heeding these warnings  I've thought about trying dramamine/bonine too (still going to bring some just in case), so this is extra helpful.

Mission space Orange spins the vehicles so that your body gets the feeling of being weightless. If you don't state streaight ahead, if you look elsewhere, the trick doesn't work, and you will feel the spinning. And there are some people who do what they are supposed to do but still feel it as spinning, and don't get the weightless-feel trick.

So go on MS Green. No spinning.

These German guys were behind us just screaming- LOUD.

Screaming on Star Tours??

I can feel sick if I'm under or over-fed or under-hydrated. If I hit the sweet spot with that and go on wild rides I'm fine.

I get a bit queasy on Mission Space but I breath through it. I do the ride once with my kids.

I headed to Epcot with the kids last year and my SO stayed behind. About 15 minutes after we left he decided to hit up Epcot. We had FP+ for MS so he decided to go on it. He said they asked him orange or green and he didn't want to look "weak" with all of these kids going on green so he thought it must not be that bad. He did the ride and threw up in the trash cans right after he got off of the ride. He was jacked up for the rest of the night. I have some awesome pics. lol

Didn't throw up . .but basically needed to sit down, have some water and food and chill out for a while:

Mission Space - hands down. I made the bad call of being adventurous.
Star Tours - ONLY if I go on it several quick times in a row. (depends where I sit too).
TeaCups - same .. if I go on it several quick times in a row.

That's about it.

I've never actually thrown up after a ride, but I came the closest I've ever been after Star Tours. Feeling so sick was bad enough, but then I was also upset that I might throw up in PUBLIC, which made it seem even worse!

I feel motion sick even watching on-ride videos on You Tube, so I must be pretty sensitive. The Star Tours thing happened in 1991 though, before the Internet, so I had no idea I was going to react like that.

Got on Primeval Whirl without fully understanding what it did. The park was very slow that day so I didn't get a chance to see the ride in action before we got on. I was not happy when it suddenly started to spin! It wasn't too bad though and I managed it without feeling sick at all.

How is the Buzz Lightyear ride in HS? I heard that one can spin. How much, can you control it, etc?

Both Star Tours and Primeval Whirl are the ones that can "get to me" too. I've never gotten really sick, but I sometimes feel unpleasant and hot on them (usually on the first ride). Afterwards I feel fine though.

Buzz Lightyear is in MK, not HS, and the spinning is controlled by the rider. It's mostly used for turning toward the targets and does not spin very fast, even if you just hold the joystick. I would think few people would have problems with this.

A groups of us got sick on Mission Space. We all felt like puking but no one did. It finally passed. That ride wasn't even worth the discomfort. I think it was the original version, but I haven't tried it since.

I can't ride the teacups.

Body Wars got me sick, but I don't get sick on Star Tours.

I can only ride Space Mountain once each visit. For some reason my head bounces around too much and I always say Never again. But I always go on once a visit for my kids. I have the same issue with Rockin Roller Coaster, though not as bad so I go on that and just suck it up.

Thankfully I've never gotten sick to the point of puking. I love Primevil Whirl.

Astro Orbiter! Yep, I can't ride that either.

I avoid tea cups and Mission Space. Star Tours and sometimes Soarin' make me a bit queasy, but I still ride those anyway. I thought Primeval Whirl would bother me, but it didn't at all--even riding it several times in succession when the line was super short. None of the coasters bother me. I guess for me it's mostly spinning and the visual stuff (Soarin', Star Tours) that get to me.

EE ... the backwards motion is a killer.

Exactly. Tried it once, never again.

It is true for me too, the older I get, the less tolerant I become. I won't do anything that spins, Space Mountain or RnR. Have never even thought about attempting Mission Space. But I can't wait for BTMRR, 7DMT, TT and especially Splash! Can do Soarin' with no problem, trying to decide on FoP. I've been thinking about trying Bonine, perhaps I'll bring some along this time.
