Discover the Wild (and Healthy) Side!! – WISH May Lifestyle/Weight Challenge

Woohoo its Thursday!

I'm leaving the office early today for a Rolfing appointment, my first one since coming back from Texas, so about a month. It's going to feel great. The weather is clearing and turning warm, so I won't have anything to complain about for a week or so. I finally remembered to book an appointment with my new doctor, and was able to get in before my June trip to New Hampshire for the crafting extravaganza. I also finally remembered to book hair appointments, and was also able to squeeze them in before vacation.

Let me know if you want me to do the questions for few days @Flossbolna. Disneyland sounds fun! Enjoy

Here is my long report of last 3 weeks, skip reading if not interested in a lot of detail!I am number person and I like to review results every 3. Less than that can be too little as my weight loss is never very linear

3 full weeks since I started my mini refocus. I have done the photo diary for 2 weeks out of the 3. Some numbers

Average steps daily 17500 steps. There is no way I would do as many steps in the winter, I am wouldn't be interested. Perhaps weighting 1 or 2 kg in the winter is somewhat normal and to be expected

5 workouts weekly, 20 minutes each. The minimalist training seem to suit me a lot more as I recover well, have tons of energy to enjoy life and activities with my family and I am feeling slow progress in terms of building some muscle/strength. I love not wrecking myself in the gym and having energy for life, I can't imagine going back to long intense sessions and pushing myself to burn out again and again. I am done with it! I do however wish I had more time for yoga and swimming - it has been busy and with good weather it's easier to be outdoors. I am loving kettlebells and want to learn more exercise in my rotation.

Daily average calories

Week 1 2200 cal total /1725 cal net
Week 2 2030 cal total / 1450 cal net
Week 3 2050 cal total /1300 cal net

It seem very naturally easier to eat little less and move little more as the days go by

Net calories under weekly goal

week 1 - 1197
week 2 - 3081
week 3 - 4237

Total calorie deficit 8417, I should have lost 1.1 kg. Actual loss on the scale is 1.7kg but without a doubt it will be slower if I do another 3 weeks.

Of course some people would say it's slow progress, but enjoyed occasional drink, one or two meals out at least every week, I didn't walk around hungry or tried and grumpy, I ate food I love. I didn't force deficit on week one, I stayed tuned to how I feel.

Estimating few meals out doesn't seem to be an issue for me
It was actually enjoyable to refocus little. There was small winter regain and glad to see it gone.

I enjoy looking at my photo diary as it is good reminder for myself, that it doesn't have to be hard, I can live a life I enjoy and still remain at weight & shape I am happy with it. In fact if I make it hard, as I have done it pre 2015 - I won't keep it up. It have to fun!

To be honest in the winter I probably ate in similar way but didn't walk as much, hence no loss. The small gain within my happy range was after chrismtas and after my lanzarote holiday but reaching the maximum of my range made me go for refocus. Right in the middle of if it, perhaps I will narrow this range going forward. I love May and June! I love summer fruit in the shops. I love the longer days and the good weather. I think it will be annual refocus time for me from now on

I know many absolutely hate calorie counting, but for me it suits me so well! I can't imagine ever going to no sugar or any restrictive form of eating. So much of my food is whole/clean whatever you call it, the occasional treat really doesn't do any harm. In fact, it makes it sustainable and enjoyable for me.

@HappyGrape this would be wonderful! I am back on Tuesday, but I can certainly post now and then. Let me know which days you can cover and I take the rest!

May 19! Staying in Africa

I find watching people having fun is just as enjoyable as looking at the dancers. It reminds me of having fun, moving in way that you are happy (without fear of looking silly), it reminds me of the nice weather & sunshine, about feeling connected to my family and the world around me and being in the moment. About what a good life feels like

Friday Question Is there anything you can do that supports your health and fitness but also bring you some happiness this weekend? Nice walk with a friend, good meal, a silly dance? What can you do to have some fun while moving towards the goals you have

It's nice a warm here in SC so I plan to go swimming a few days and hopefully one of those days my nephew (7) will get to come.

Pokemon is having an event this week where you will get more stone type pokemon and when walking with your budding you will get candies faster. We have planned several walks in different parks this weekend. We all play so it will be some free family fun stuff.

Gardening - yah! Really looking forward to getting things cleaned up and looking spiffy. Saturday evening I'm supposed to be going to a birthday party a work friend is having, but the logistic of getting to/from are turning out to be a challenge. She lives across the Sound, so it involves taking a ferry from the downtown ferry dock just at the time the Sounders soccer game is getting out. Or last night it occurred to me it might work to take the ferry from my neighborhood and drive a bit on the other side... looks like that would be less than 30 minutes so might be doable, but I'm leaning more towards not going. There's a FitBit Challenge Day Saturday and I'm in a couple challenges with different people, so I'll need to get out for a good long walk as well.

I feel so much better today, after my Rolfing session yesterday... she worked primarily on my feet and legs and today I feel taller and more grounded, which is a very good thing.

Happy weekend everyone!

So I'm about 19 days late but I'm jumping in! I started Weight Watchers on Wednesday and my goal for May is to stay in my budget each day/week. I already have decently healthy habits but I tend to go wild on the weekends with junk food. I'm hoping the WW plan will help me cut back on the icky stuff and replace it with more filling/nutritional options!

This is such a fun idea- I look forward to keeping up in the following months as well :)

My Wohoo is that I am leaving for Disneyland Paris tomorrow!

Woohoo!!! Have a great time!

There is a 5K at our local zoo tomorrow to support the tigers. I haven't signed up yet, but am debating going and doing day of registration. The race course goes by the tiger habitat and would be fun, but I'm still not sure I want to get up that early.... and it's so hot--- even at 8am! Otherwise, I will be going to Orangetheory which does bring me happiness overall if not in the moment as I see progress being made :)

Oh, just thought of another. Going for a massage tonight! That certainly brings me happiness and helps me de-stress and my muscles recover!

This weekend will be busy but fun... and not without temptation. TWO birthday parties! I am making the cupcakes for one, and DH already asked me to double to batch so he can have some for himself. Definitely do NOT need those around, but this will be an exercise in self control... not that I have succeeded in the past, but we will see Haha!

The other party is at my SIL's house. She is very into her health right now, so I'm not too worried about her party. I know I can count on her to have good healthy options.

Going ahead and checking in in case life gets away from me this weekend - 83% I think I may go over goal and get in 2 extra workouts!

Something is clicking and I am driven to make progress this month despite the set back I know is coming with Memorial Day at Disney. This means getting in extra workouts on Friday mornings. It's not nearly as bad as I had in my head it would be. I am afraid to say out loud that I may prefer it.... I get up, get it done, have energy, and it doesn't loom all day as chore that needs to be done. Being that I barely wake up in time to go, it really only gets to loom as a chore for 20 minutes and then I get to feel accomplished all day. Haha!

Ok ramble over! Have a great weekend everyone!

I think the first month I joined was 19 days late too! Welcome. There are few very successful weight maintainers who lost weight with Weight Watchers around

20th May

Theme park plans. Animal Kingdom is wonderful park - you can go without any plan and still have fantastic time. However if you only have one day on a trip, if you don't live near Orlando, if it's 4th of July or Easter busy, plan will help you experience all the attractions you want to achieve. Or you can wait in line all day and wish you had made a plan

Weekends are great opportunity to review how your week is going, what did you do great and what can you do better next week. It's also chance to make a plan for the upcoming week.

Saturday question -Will you be doing some planning for next weeks to make it easier for you to move towards your healthy and fitness goals? Shopping list for your food? Meal plan or ideas? Exercise - when, what and how long? Special occasions - have you thought how will you manage them, enjoy them and still remain on track

Have a wonderful Saturday All

Make a plan, so you can get what you are looking to achieve! You are worth the effort, and it will be worth it.

I guess my answer to Friday's question is the same as Thursdays. I am going to DLP! Had a fantastic day yesterday with low crowds. We loved Space Mountain which just came out of a massive refurb and got new cars. DLP Space Mountain is more like Rock n Roller Coaster at WDW, it has inversions and onboard music. The music is so much more better and the new cars have really more comfy restraints.

The park is celebrating its 25th anniversary and it's really sparkling with silver and blue!

Today's question: my BF arrived yesterday and is going to stay for the next two months. When he is around, I am doing much better in meal planning. He is trying to lose weight, too, and we both find that planning out dinners is so helpful to not eat crap in the evening. So, he likes having a plan, too. It is really helpful to have support with this!

Happy Sunday All

21st of May

Today I will share a picture of a sign I once read at Animal Kingdom on a building wall. We often blame Disney on taking too long to complete a project or when there are known issues (think rivers of light) we sometimes blame them for not achieving what they inspire to do. But they always go all out in their efforts of making it right.

Positive expectancy is important when we peruse health and fitness goals. Yes, we need good strategy, but most people know how they should eat or exercise. Often in life when we fail few attempts we lose faith that we can, or this time will be different. And we do that, we don't use all are ability to create change! "I will" brings up different level of commitment to "I will try and see how it goes". Past is not equal the future. You know better now, you are different now - give yourself the trust that not only you can, but you will achieve your goals! Your strategy may need to change, your timelines may need to change, but having a certainty that this is what you want, and you will do what you need to do will create an energy to take you through it!

Give yourself the confidence in your ability to make it!
