Plans have been filed for DVC expansion at Caribbean Beach Resort

There's an article on WDWNT that claims CM's at the resort have been told that a ten story DVC tower is coming to the resort along with the destruction of the Customs House and other changes. (Wonder if the bus drivers have also been informed?)

If accurate, a ten story tower would certainly be visible from World Showcase and also possibly Future World.

IF they are building a tower (which seems pretty definite at this point regardless of this article) they WILL build it tall enough to see into WS for Illuminations, and if they build it tall enough to see in, it certainly will be tall enough to see from the park.

Illuminations isn't gonna last forever kid...

...the reality is that's cost cutting/cheapening of parks move too.

Towers take up less Space and have lower maintenance costs too...and eliminates what used to really be a strong point of the Disney properties and of particular importance at Caribbean: landscaping.

Agree that Towers are cheaper, but to me it's more about trying to make it upscale. DVC isn't about "low rent" anymore, it's about "Deluxe for slightly less than deluxe prices" Isolated buildings and pretty paint and plants aren't going to cut it for today's DVC.

DVC was never about "low rent"...it was "here, take me $10,15,20k upfront and I promise to keep buying all your stuff"

Talk about nonsense...you said it. What is "luxury" about Florida condominium style towers? It's not the four seasons in Sarasota or Naples...bay lake is "luxury"?? Only if you've never been in it...I suppose.

Caribbeans highlight was the grounds...that's what I'm saying. I think it's too spread out and I think moderates are a complete ripoff since they doubled the prices...but the frequent thing brought up by Caribbean fans was always the grounds. Not the "deluxe" location.

You're drinking the DVC elixir on this one, Pete...sounds more like "they say it will be deluxe so I guess it will be"

This new transport system...if built...will sell it. But the DVC is gonna be corner cut into oblivion and this will be the most overpriced DVC in history: my prediction. The ends doesn't justify the means. You can't "unkill" someone.

Breaking the Saratoga record that we fought would never fall...like batting .400...

And I don't believe Disney has any relationship left with Graves. Believe it or not, architectural features can be copyrighted...I wouldn't be surprised if some on the S&D are in fact.

Well that wouldn't be very smart. Swolphin already intrudes on world showcase as it is. That architecture isn't exactly Caribbean either.

Well, I know they made the Tower of Terror the color they did as it blends in with the Morocco pavilion

Looks like this tower would be largely inline with the Germany Pavilion - which would mean the tower would have a light tan/whitwashed type look potentially with red roof

However the swan and dolphin doesn't match thematically so who knows what they'll do.

As the story goes: Eisner was livid at the plans/construction of the Swan and dolphin and had little leverage...and he would have insisted the match for tower of terror.

Based on what I read in Disney war wasn't Eisner a graves fan? They had a competition of sorts for the design and Graves is the one who came out on top.

He was a fan of graves...and rm stern...but as the legend goes, his fight was more with the developers..graves did the "following orders" routine.

which I don't know about a lot of different Caribbean Islands but I could see some of the architecture from Puerto Rico (Old Town area and the fortress) fitting in
