I love credit cards so much!

I did a backpacking trip in Banff, Jasper and Yoho about 8 years ago. It was an amazing trip. You will love it there. I went in August, but during the nights it got below freezing, especially at our higher elevations. Make sure to take some warm clothes, hats, gloves, etc.
Thank you. I will be picking your brain from now until our trip.

I did some research on plastiq and while it does appear to be a viable method to meet minimum spend, it's hard for me to pull the trigger with that fee. I'd imagine going the GC to MO method, then sending the MO directly to my mortgage lender would be cheaper on my end. I'm waiting on a secure message back from them to find out if they accept MO as a form of payment.

Fee free GC typically wont be able to get you ur MO at the PO though. i think Simon mall ones work. any MetaBanks GC dont work anymore. Only time ive seen fee free GC is through Staples... works well if you a the ink cards...
I know another way to dump those GC is through Venmo, where u send the money to someone, they cash it out and give it back to you. Your limited to 6x a half year i think.
Serve is another one... it still work with some GCs at walmart. People say to hit this hard because chances are u will get shut down...
Make sure u have money to back everything up though, i know of many people in the online community that basically gets stuck with those cards with no way of cashing it out... like in the $5k-10k. haha.

Hey guys.
1. Can I secure message Chase to request my Southwest Premier be closed?
2. Also, do you think they'd shift that card's credit line to another card (or cards) if I asked?

The answer to number one is yes.
I don't know the answer to the other.

They will shift all but $500 (typically, but sometimes all if you haven't used it in 30+ days) and close the card out. Sometimes they will request you call, but this is rare.

Ok I see plastiq mentioned above. Never even heard of it before.

I can usually meet spend paying utilities and usual bills. Cell phone & cable/internet are each almost $200 per month.
I usually end up with at least one bog bill, like taxes or insurance, due during the timeframe. Last year I spent 4K over a couple months on my sick pup, which helped meet spend on a couple card. Lucky me :sad2:
Plastiq works well to meet the spend bonus...I will pay a small chunk in fees to get the bigger bonus in the end. It is totally worth it. At one point, my Citi Double Cash was charging 1% (assuming it thought it was a debit card) fee, but I was getting 2% back so that was a huge win.

No need to keep the platinum or prg since I don't fly much. Only benefit would be the Centurion lounge and gold status with Marriott and SPG and Hilton. Can't justify paying $450.00 a year for those benefits.

just did a retention call to Citibank. they gave me $95+1k TYP $3000 in 3 months... or +2 points on all categories for 6 month up to 35k. so its 5x on travel, 4x on dining, 3x on everything else. i took the +2 points offer.
Poor CSR, it was so comfortable in my wallet, now it just got replaced. lol

We're going on our first big churning trip this summer to Alaska! We got four free flights by my dh and I each getting two Alaska Airlines cards (which also come with a free checked bag). We have 3 nights in Anchorage (2 at the beginning of the trip, one at the end) free with IHG points, and at least $2000 of the rest of the spending will be covered by cash bonuses or cash back earned in the last year. :cool1:

Anyone here use MS to meet minimum spends? I've been reading about this on reddit and it appears easy enough to understand. I totally get it can be risky (similar to the way churning gift cards is risky if you get stuck with all your eggs in one basket). I'm not really wanting to do this in huge amounts, maybe just enough to meet minimum spend on a card while DH is organically meeting minimum spend on a different card. I'm thinking of going the money order route, but not sure how I should handle deposits. All these wonderful banks I see folks on reddit posting about with the great bonuses are not found anywhere near me, some not anywhere near my state...LOL. Just hoping to hear from someone who might have experience with this.

I did the same as @havaneselover in terms of funding a new savings account with my CSR. I opened an account at First Midwest. It was kind of a pain but it could all be done remotely and they did not care if I had their branch in my state (we don't!). I did not receive any bonus from them. PNC was only open to certain states so I could not go through them.

You just need to make sure to lower your cash advance to the min which I think is $100.

The 35k spg deal is back. But higher minimum spend requirement. 5k for the personal and 8k for the business.

Wow--isn't that worth 105 K Marriott points? The spend is $3k in three months for 25K and an additional 10 K for spending another $2k in the first six months. That would be easy.

Ok, the BA to book on AA I can explain. You check for the flight on AA as if you are booking an AA award ticket. If the flight is available in the saver miles category then you can book that flight with BA using BA Avios to fly on AA. If the AA saver flight has connections you will need to look for each leg on BA. If it doesn't show up on BA's site, call BA, tell them the website won't let you book it (so you can avoid the charge for a phone booking) give them the AA flight numbers, dates, times etc. and they will be able to book it.

Once in a wile you have to be persistent if they don't see it on their end. Tell them to keep scrolling down until they find it or insist it is there. This happened with friends who were booking AA flights for a family of 4 to go to Hawaii with us next month. I was helping them to use their BA Avios to book the AA flights. Three times they had to HUCA because they agent said it wasn't bookable and I said don't give up because it is and I could see it on AA's side. Finally, they were able to get able to get the BA agent to book the flights.
I still haven't yet done this(tho planning to) so if I see the flight I want on AA, I can just go to BA site and book it online? which will then technically be the AA flight I saw? Or do I have to call BA to book that AA flight I want using avios?

Okay any gurus? Seems from what I can find, the points needed for my trip to Hawaii are above the "saver" level so I can't pull off the Korean to Delta swap. The best I can find is 360,000 for the 4 of us via Alaskan I think. Which is a lot more then I wanted to spend on tickets. Does anyone have any tips? We want to travel from Detroit to Maui. And our dates are 12/23-12/31 (yes, I know....but I'm a teacher). It seems the points needed are the same if we do the trip from Detroit or the west coast. So it's not helping us any to get to say LAX cheap and then use points. Unless I don't know all the methods one can use.

HELP! We really wanted to go away this Christmas....but I don't want to use ALL our points to do it....

Okay, I *definitely want to hear that cruise explanation! The only request I've ever heard my dad make is for an Alaskan cruise. If I could make that happen for us....!!
Honestly it was simple..... Used IHG cc points for hotel one night pre cruise+SWA bonus points = companion pass and free flights+ CSR x2 (spouses each get one, carefully timed between year change for travel bonus)= straight up $900 travel credit on cruise payment- that together with finding a cruise that didn't charge for 3rd and 4th person in cabin.... = $700 (pre taxes and gratuities which were partially paid with the TA deal I got on the cruise also)..... a couple of new card apps/bonuses used, plus some older points I've had....easy. (that IHG card has been remarkably useful for us the past couple of years,I'm keeping it)

I wonder how long it will last.... good deal wish I could get it!
Through 4/5 it says. I'm very tempted. Only thing I don't get is why keep it after a year. There's a $95 annual fee and it looks like unlike Marriott no free night. Am I missing something?
