The Everything Pooh Sized Thread

I would love to try the design a tee for a tee and a sweatshirt. I read somewhere that this store had larger sizes. Can someone who got merchandise there share their experience? Did you bring your own shirt or was there a good selection already there? Is there anywhere I can view the selection online? thanks.

I made a t-shirt a few years ago. I bought a 3X size (not the women's cut, I chose the regular t-shirt cut or maybe it's considered a men's?) and it fit well. It was a tiny bit tight on certain areas I would rather not highlight (spare tire, lol) so I stretched it a bit when I put it on the next day and it was fine.

in 2013 I bought a 4x tee, it fit me well that it didnt show my bulges@ 5'7" and 330 ish..I also never ever put it in the dyer. Still looks great and fit is also good (40lbs lighter so no visble bulges in the 4x)

So this is my second time reading this post, I read it the first time we went to WDW 2 years ago, and I am reading it again now for our september trip. I felt the need to create an account and post, because this thread has helped me more than I can say. I was SO scared the first time we went. Crying, I felt like I wouldn't fit on anything and would ruin the trip for my son and husband. Reading through this thread gave me so much peace of mind, and the confidence to try almost everything. We had the most amazing time! My son is special needs, and wasn't talking hardly at all before we left, at WDW he said more than we had ever heard him say in his entire life, and I was there to experience it all with him. The second time we went he cried going through the gates he was so happy. He loves every minute of it, and so do I!!! So thank you to everyone who posted on this thread, it helped so much, and gave me the push to just go and do it instead of letting my weight keep me from a place that has become our second home, so much so that we bought a DVC.

I want to add my stats and experiences so if there is anyone my size, maybe they will get the same peace of mind I did. I am 5' 4", and at the time of my first and second trips I was 350 lbs. I carry my weight mostly around my middle and in my chest (56 inches) and wear a 3-4x top and 28 bottoms. I have done almost everything at all 4 parks!! I have not done Mission:Space, Sum of All Thrills, or 7 Dwarves. Some seats are a little tight, but nothing that made it any less enjoyable in any way! I ride with my son or husband (who is average weight and height), and sometimes we all even ride together (Nemo, Little Mermaid, a few others). So anyone who is scared, go for it! Disney is amazing, it really is a place for everyone!!!

I buy most of my clothes from Old Navy or Torrid. Bras I get from Layne Bryant, they have an amazing wireless, sports bra-looking bra that is fantastic. Support, control, and comfort. I can't speak for good walking shoes, because this upcoming trip will (fingers crossed) be my first time walking the parks. My husband carries our stuff in a backpack. We all swear by BodyGlide, Aleve morning and night, and using Touringplans to minimize walking but still make good time. Also, this isn't a Pooh Size tip, but I take dry shampoo in the park with me. My hair gets sweaty and greasy and I like to freshen up every couple hours!

I do have a question, does anyone have any experience being my size and riding Mission:Space? My son is so excited and I want to ride with him but I am unsure about the size and the restrains!

Thank you all again for all your contributions in this thread, and I am so sorry for writing a novel lol!

I am 5' 4" and about 320 and My DH is 6 ft and was 372 at the time of our last trip and we both fit just fine on Mission: Space

Just an FYI, we were able to fit together on 7 Dwarfs too and it was very tight but do-able. Not the most comfortable ride to do but it is really short.

We are exactly a month out from our trip and I am confident about everything except Sum of All Thrills which is what DD wants to ride more than anything with me. I know they have a test seat and last time (2012) I did not fit in it, but I think I was bigger then...not sure. Can anyone who has ridden it or not been able to do the test seat post here? I am 5'4" and currently 270 pounds...3x top (mostly) and 20-22 pants. I would just like to be able to give her a more definite doubt it, but I'll try if it really looks unlikely.

I am 6'0" and 345-ish, and I ride Mission Space with room to spare. :thumbsup2 I too carry most of my weight in my torso (belly, chest, and back).

And if your proportions are similar, you should be fine on 7DMT, too! The restraint comes down over your knees and thighs. The seat is narrow, yes, but it's more like a bench seat with a little hump in the middle to divide it into two "seats." If you ride with your kiddo or husband, who won't mind sharing some of their space with you, then you'll be just fine. Cozy, but just fine! :cutie:

I want to second that you will be fine on Mission:Space ... the space is tight for everyone, but the restraints are fine and very forgiving. Obviously, everyone carries their weight differently, but I think you would also be fin on 7DMT! Its not really comfortable for anyone, but the restraint need only pull down over your thighs and you are all set! Enjoy your trip with your family!!

First of all, I got a little teary when you talked about your son. I am so happy he enjoyed it and I hope you have several more years of magical memories to go on. Just a bit of background, I'm 5'7" and probably about 320. Just a smidge smaller. On my last trip (January 2015) I rode Mission: Space and I felt fine in terms of fitting into the ride. For comparison's sake, I was a bit smooshed in 7DMT, but it's a bit short that my knees forgive me. Good luck with the walking around and don't do what I did and push myself for 10 miles at the beginning. It took me out for two days.

I see a lot of folks raving about the Teva brand shoes. Does anyone know if any of them come in a wide width?
Or is the medium width sufficient for a slightly wider foot?

This is a great thread...Im so glad you started it. I have been out all weekend looking for a swimsuit but had no luck. Has anyone else tried on a swimsuit and left the shop totally depressed? Im dreading swimming this year..I have put on so much weight..I am 50 lbs heavier that last year and havnt had much luck in getting it off. I dont like those swimsuits either that have the foam Madonna ****ies in them or those that look like you are swimming in a mini dress...Im at such a loss right now...help!

I've ordered swimsuits from quite a few online stores over the years. I spent mega money on one from a home shopping store and we laughingly call that my "swimgown". The skirt was literally past my knees (and I'm not THAT short)!
I have had the best luck with WomanWithin.com swimsuits. Get a coupon code from CouponCabin.com and you can save usually at least 30%. I have 2 from them now and my daughter has one and just ordered another. Granted - they may only last a couple of years but I'm fine with that. I like that they have tons of styles and most are at least moderate coverage. At my age, the girls need coverage!

I would check a site like Zappos to see what they say. I had a pair of Teva sandals that I used for years during the summer and I wear a wide shoe. Unfortunately they have since been passed on to those who will get more use out of them so I can't check personally for you. I would definitely recommend them though.

Happy to see this thread! I, like many of you, stressed about fitting into things but was SO HAPPY that I almost never ran into issues on rides, though there were a few that ended up being more hilarious than embarrassing. DH is 6'3", my sister-in-law and I are 5'9" and 5'8" respectively. All of us are big, but my husband carries his weight in his belly (skinny long legs) while my SIL and I carry our weight in our hips, butts and thighs (size 24-26 pants, 18-20 tops).

1. They elected to put the three of us in the front of the boat on POTC. This wasn't a great idea; when we came down that tiny little slide portion the whole front of the boat dipped under the water and absolutely flooded the three of us. It turned out to give me a great testimonial for my eBags Piazza Day bag, which is a cross body bag with an extra long strap that kept everything inside it totally dry during this incident - most importantly, my cell phone.

2. At AK, on Primeval Whirl, they tried to seat us as the ride was designed, two people on each side of the cart. My hips were edging DH out of the ride, so they stopped it and gave each of us one side. I loved the ride, but that small divider in the center was a little rough at some points. Still, I was killing myself laughing on it the whole time.

3. It's a Small World and the now-gone Maelstrom boats were just way too short for our legs. It looks like they are re-purposing these boats for the Frozen ride, so we will plan accordingly.

I'm sure there were other rides that were tight or had crampy leg room, but those were the only memorable ones. I never had a single seat belt issue like the ones used on Soarin', Star Tours or TOT. Those belts expand quite a bit, you just need to remember to snug them up again. DH forgot this crucial step our second time on TOT and actually lifted quite high out of his seat on the falls.

As for clothes, shoes and chafing:
- I wore denim shorts and pedal pushers most days. Some may not like wearing denim in that heat, but they don't ride up and are excellent at preventing chub rub. I did bring a couple of sundresses I got from Gwynnie Bee. Under those, I wore men's boxer briefs for chub rub prevention. This next trip, I plan on Disneybounding, so I am bringing more skirts/dresses with silky bloomers to prevent chafing.
- My shoes were Keen Whisper sandals and Clarks Morse Tour. They suited each other well as breaks for each other, with the all rubber Keens being good for days when I suspected we would get wet and the Clarks squishy suede insoles felt like clouds. I think I will bring a third, maybe 4th pair as shoe fatigue is REAL, especially when you are standing so much.
- Instead of BodyGlide, I used Gold Bond Chafing Defense. It costs about half as much and worked great! I used it on the bottoms and sides of my feet and on my inner thighs. Before I thought of using it on my feet, I did develop a hot spot the first day from my Keens. I used moleskin to protect it from worsening and was happy with the results.

It was unseasonably hot when we were there at the end of April/early May. I know how much I dislike heat, but I wasn't prepared for exactly how much. I got really overheated in AK because I wasn't aware that it is literally the hottest park by design so the animals stay comfortable. We had gotten there for RD and the park was absolutely stunning in the cooler morning air. Next time, we will plan on only going to AK for the very earliest hours for several days, since we always park-hop. I am looking forward to trying Frogg Toggs on this next trip.

I just want to say I'm so glad this thread exists! I have had no trouble fitting on rides at Disney in the past, but I had always feared Expedition Everest. I had read that many have had trouble with the ride, and being a tall and curvy girl, I feared that I'd have issues. To my surprise, there were no issues! I fit just fine and had the time of my life! In fact, I rode it twice! :)

I love this thread. It just reminds me of how normal I feel at WDW. We frequent a local amusement park and there are several rides I cannot get on. I am 5' 3" and 215 lbs, I wear a size 18/20. Yes I am a big girl but I swear the rides are meant for teenagers, it's embarrassing.

Anyhow I love that I have no worries at WDW, I have always fit on every ride, no worries and that's just another thing that makes Disney so great.

I couldn't agree more! This is yet another reason why Disney continues to win my vacation dollars year after year after year. :cutie:
