Our family just went for the first time this year, two boys ages 13 and and 17. Hubby and I want to go back next year for our anniversary, without kiddos, but our older son wants to go back with us!! He loved Disney more than our younger son, so we may have to take him with us.... Not the perfect situation, but I'm just tickled that he loved it as much as hubby and I did!!!

Have a hubby wife only trip then a mommy son trip. Best of both worlds.

I'm so glad you guys made this thread! My DBF and I are both 25 and are getting ready to go on our first Disney cruise next weekend. I have been to DW 3 times and I know he's been to DL once I can't remember about the world. I have convinced him to stay at a resort for 3 nights next September and do 2 park days before our 7 night cruise. I'm trying to plan it so that we can be there on my birthday! I can't wait to see everyone's tips I'm already a little overwhelmed but excited with all the planning that goes into this vs a cruise but I drive DBF crazy vacation planning so I know it will be a blast!

Castaway Cay Serenity Beach is awesome. We can't go to Florida and not go to Disney.

3 of my last 4 trips were YC, WL and CBR. :thumbsup2

I share your dream of trying them all once. :)

(Next up - Csr)

DH and I loved Coronado Springs...

That resort is really a victim of the "conventioners reviews", IMO... We actually loved it just as much as the Polynesian Resort (and I thought it was the best pool and hot tub).

I would love to hear (read) what you thought of YC, WL and CBR!

I loved them all equally, but differently (just like children, lol).

I have to evaluate each resort 2 ways - with kids and without. I've come to realize that the Deluxes will be for when DH and I go without kids, and perhaps when the kids are older. Right now, they are not for my kids. The 2 main reasons being:

1. lack of food court/QS options. We use the food court at least once a day when with the kids. There was no food court at all at YC (had to walk over to BC and it was more like a store with 1 food counter in it, and we only had breakfast there so i'm not sure what the offerings were for lunch or dinner). And Roaring Fork at WC was tiny, only 2 windows. Again, we only did breakfast there so not sure what lunch or dinner was like, and we were there early for breakfast (like 6:30-7:00 a.m.) so I can't imagine how crowded it must get in there at peak times.

2. Pools. The pools at the Mods are much more fun for kids. Exception being Stormalong Bay obviously at BC/YC. My kids would have been underwhelmed at the WL pool. The pools at CBR and AoA were WAY more fun for them.

So those are the 2 negatives for me for YC and WL, but only if I had gone with the kids, which I did not, so it worked out fine and I still love them both. The pluses:

WL's GORGEOUS lobby, we spent a lot of time there. It is just amazing. The ferry to MK and also FW which we took one night to look around FW. The waterfall, geyser, rocks, etc. All beautiful.

YC's location - being able to walk to EP and walk around to the BWI and boat to HS. Lobby not as spectacular as WL but still nice. Lazy River, pool, etc. obviously!

Both have nice restaurants. Loved Whispering Canyon and enjoyed Captain's Grille.

CBR - loved it. I booked preferred and was in Martinique 25 I believe (rusty memory) so no issues with being far away. ODS had a blast in the pool, very fun. Nice big food court, lots of different options, loved that. Loved the colorful decor all around as I love all things Caribbean (not crazy about new interior decor, looks much more somber). Loved being able to sit out on the deck by the water and eat (picnic benches). We had a great experience with the buses. I swear every single time we walked out to the bus stop, our bus was JUST pulling up. Stopping at the other CBR stops was a non-issue. I don't even know if we were the first or last stop, it was such a non-issue that I didn't even notice. i feel like we were always out of CBR pretty quickly so maybe we were the last stop?? I had much more of a problem with the WL buses since we had to go over to FW or GF to pick up, and then sometimes stopped at the water parks? That was a huge PITA, I felt like we were on the buses FOREVER.

I think as far as the "disney feel", AoA is mine and the kids' favorite!

hi everyone! New here. I'm planning my 3rd trip with the BF, we don't have kids (and don't plan to--we can barely manage two cats!!). We're going in February. I'm the planner in the relationship, and I enjoy the planning and anticipation of the trip almost as much as the trip itself, whereas the BF does not like to talk about a trip for 6 months before going (??? how weird) because it stresses him out. I dunno. Anyway, I joined the boards so I could have fun anticipating and getting ready without driving him crazy.

I don't have any questions yet, just wanted to introduce myself!!

You are in the right place.

Oh, and I love your avatar :lovestruc

back atcha :goodvibes

haha I'm trying not to be too intense and scare him off! I'm being very good and only asking him about things every other day or so. Yesterday we decided No on the Keys to the Kingdom tour. I'm going to wait a few days to ask about upgrading our hotel if a good %-off deal shows up.

You are in the right place.

Oh man this is so ME - planner!!! Our trip is in February 2015 as well and I cannot wait and cannot stop planning and researching and getting excited.

The DBF has been great - I have asked about the resort several times, had a mini melt down when an ADR was cancelled by a restaurant and we couldn't get it back, have resorted to split resort vacation for now considering DVC is all booked up for that weekend. Though he loves me for it, he recognizes the itty bitty crazy in me over this Disney trip. :goofy:

I love your attitude and this is why I joined the DIS in the first place. It's so wonderful to share excitement with people that just "get it".

Welcome to everyone.

I just realized I could subscribe to threads. It will be easier for me to help/make suggestions to adults from now on...

Especially when it comes to resort. Good news. DH and I like doing split stays. By the end of November, we'll go on a 6 nights "Resort hopper" trip during which we'll stay at 5 RESORTS. The only one we've tried so far on those five resorts is AKL...

We already know Port Orleans French Quarter, Polynesian Village, Animal Kingdom Lodge and Coronado Springs Resort... Now, we'll get to know Port Orleans Riverside, Yacht Club, Wilderness Lodge and Caribbean Beach!

We are also planning another trip in april 2015 during which we are thinking of staying at All-Star Sports and Art of Animation with a strong possibility for Dolphin and/or Old Key West...

I love themep arks, water parks and restaurants but I must admit I have a passion for Disney hotels/resorts. I would love to try them all at least once in my life.

I might be able to help some people when they are looking for reviews or a certain experience. ::yes::

Hope you someday try the CR with a tower room on the MK side. Sitting on the balcony at night was fantastic last year even with they new bus depot being under construction. Just don't book just before NIGHT OF JOY. The sounds during practices past midnight before dawn woke us up.

Hello, Dh and I are 28 and just recently celebrated our 9th anniversary. It kinda snuck up on us, so we didn't do very much, but it did get us talking about what we wanted to do next year for our 10th anniversary. One of my suggestions was going back to Disney World (I haven't even made my first trip yet and I want to go back lol) without the kids. He said he didn't think he would mind as long as he was able to see blue water, which I told him I didn't think would be hard to do.
My question is what exactly is there to do for adults? Any special tours or things like that?
I'm still stuck in family mode from planning our first trip.

There is a Segway tour at Ft Wilderness that is worth investigating. All outdoors multi-terrain!

Even though our trip isn't til next November, I customized some maps and they came in the mail today!!! I did it classic style and I absolutely the rustic look to them....this has me wishing we were going this November. LoL. Putting them up in a big clear envelope with our other travel documents once I put them down long enough, they're just so cute! dde0a....Oh! We got a little welcome packet in the mail too with the magnet on it showing the important dates, has anyone else gotten these? I've been seeing in other forums where some people have and some people haven't.

TJDisneyMama: thanks for your reviews. DH and I are 35 with no kids so I believe there is a big chance we like those resorts!!

Trust me, I wanna try them all someday. CR looks nice... BLT suites look wonderful (but so expensive!) ...

DBF and I are heading to Disney for 5 days in February and I am thinking about getting the Memory Maker... is $149 worth it? I am thinking it might be so we can both be in the photos as opposed to one of us? Just seems a little steep... thoughts? experiences?

Thanks!

I never thought the Memory Maker was worth it. In the past, DH and I used our photopass cards. We took as much pictures as we wanted (with the photograph), then went online to choose the pictures we liked the most (15$ each). Never picked up more than 75$ of pictures (the 75$ was our first trip, later it was more 30-45$)...

You can also ask the photograph to take the picture with your own camera (free)...

IMO, it's not worth it.

I wondered the same thing and was debating if we should go ahead and add thinking they didn't do the photo pass cards anymore but saw that they did. Plus we're bringing our own camera and honestly we won't need a gazillion pictures...I think $149 is too much.

So they do still offer the photopass cards? Good to know!!
Yes, in that case we probably don't need the MM either.
Do we just collect the photopass cards, login once we are home and print/order which ever ones we want?
Thanks again for your replies.
